Bed and mattress safety recall register

Every UK safety recall and warning we've covered for beds, mattresses, cots and bedding, in one table you can filter.

Reviewed byBecky Reeve, Staff Writer, Mattress Expert
Latest notice13 October 2026

The register lists 16 UK product safety notices for beds, mattresses, cots and bedding, published on GOV.UK between 7 September 2023 and 13 October 2026. Each row names the product, the hazard, whether the notice is a recall or a product safety report, its Product Safety Database reference, and links to our write-up and the official notice.

It covers the notices we've written up, not the whole UK Product Safety Database. If your product isn't here, search the GOV.UK list of product safety alerts, reports and recalls, which is the complete record.

Summary

Counts by the hazard each notice names and by the year GOV.UK published it. Each figure changes when a write-up is added or retired.

Check whether you own one

Start with the label. A notice almost always covers particular models, product codes or batches rather than everything a brand makes, so a matching brand name on its own tells you very little.

  1. Find the identifiers. Look for the model number, product code, batch number or barcode on the sewn-in label of a mattress or topper, or on the sticker under a bed frame, cot or crib. Your order confirmation often shows the product code too.
  2. Open the official notice. Use the GOV.UK link in the register and compare every identifier, plus the sales period where the notice gives one.
  3. If it matches, follow the notice. Do what its corrective action says. That usually means you stop using the product straight away and contact the seller or the maker.
  4. Keep the product and your proof of purchase. Hold on to both until the seller or maker tells you what happens next, since they may ask for the product back.

Some product safety reports record goods stopped at the UK border, and the write-up says so when that's the case. Those units shouldn't have reached homes. If you think you bought one anyway, compare it with the official notice and follow what it says.

How the register is built

Every entry is a notice published on GOV.UK from the UK Product Safety Database, which the Office for Product Safety and Standards runs. A notice joins the register when we publish a write-up of it on the recalls page, and the table is rebuilt from those write-ups each time this page refreshes, so it changes only when a write-up is added, edited or retired. We write up notices for things you sleep on or in: beds, mattresses, toppers, cots, cribs, Moses baskets and bed rails.

Each column is read from the write-up by a fixed rule, with no rewording:

  • Notice date: the GOV.UK publication date recorded in the write-up's summary box.
  • Product: the write-up title up to the dash, with the product category from the summary box underneath.
  • Hazard: the write-up title after the dash, word for word, without the closing "Recall" or "Safety Warning". Each write-up quotes the notice's own hazard text in full.
  • Notice type: read from the address of the official notice on GOV.UK. A product recall notice records a recall from people who bought the product. A product safety report records an unsafe product and the action taken, such as a withdrawal from sale or a shipment stopped at the border, and doesn't always involve getting products back from homes.
  • PSD reference: the Product Safety Database case number from the title. One notice can cover more than one case.

The hazard groups in the summary and the filter match these words in the hazard wording: Fire (“fire”), Suffocation (“suffocat” or “asphyx”), Strangulation (“strangul”), Entanglement (“entangle”), Entrapment (“entrap”), Choking (“chok”). A notice that names two hazards counts once in each group, so the hazard counts can add up to more than the number of notices. Anything that matches none of them is listed under other hazards.

Corrective action, where the product was sold and batch details stay out of the table because the write-ups don't record them in one fixed form. Read them on the official notice. Spotted an error? Tell us and we'll correct it.
