The hazard
The product presents a serious suffocation risk as it has a hood and was marketed for use as an infant sleeping bag. If a baby is placed inside a hooded sleeping bag and left unattended, the baby’s natural movement may cause the hood to cover the head/face, presenting a suffocation hazard.
The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
From the official product safety notice on GOV.UK, published by the Office for Product Safety and Standards.
Why it matters for your bed or cot
3-in-1 products are sold as a blanket, a wrapper and a sleeping bag. Used as a blanket on a supervised lap it is one thing; zipped round a sleeping baby with the hood up it is another. OPSS reported the blue star version of the same product separately.
