Like most websites, WantMattress stores a few small text files on your device while you browse. This page lists every one of them, what each does, and how long it stays.

The list is short. Our own code sets four cookies, and none of them contain personal details.

Everything our own code stores on your device is listed below, by name.

Cookie notice

Named visiteda, kept for one year. Set the first time the cookie notice appears, so the notice is not shown again on later visits.

First-visit source

Named first_source, kept for 90 days. Records a short label for where your first visit came from, such as the name of a search engine, so we can tell what brings readers to the site.

Exit message

Named exitModalShown, kept for 30 days. Set when the leaving-the-page message appears on a product review, so it does not appear again within that time.

Comparison basket

Named ASP.NET_SessionId, kept until you close your browser. Set only when you add a product to the comparison tool, and holds a random ID that keeps your compared products together.

That is the whole list. If a cookie ever appears under our name that is not described here, this page is out of date and we would like to hear about it.

Cookies from third parties

Some product reviews embed a YouTube video or a Spotify podcast player, and the AI assistant page runs a JotForm chat window. When one of those loads, its provider may set cookies of its own, governed by that provider's policy rather than this one.

Cloudflare, which delivers the site, can set short-lived operational cookies for security and performance. And once you leave for a retailer's site, anything stored from that point on happens on the retailer's domain under the retailer's policy.

What you will not find here is tracking for its own sake. No analytics platform, no advertising pixels, no cross-site identifiers.

Managing cookies

Every browser lets you view, block and delete cookies, either wholesale or site by site. The guides below cover the four most used.

Blocking ours costs you very little: the cookie notice returns on each visit and the product-page message may reappear sooner. Nothing else on the site depends on cookies.
