The hazard

The Monanito Baby Bassinet presents a serious risk of suffocation. The product lacks a locking mechanism to securely attach the bassinet to the adult bed. As a result, there is a risk that a gap may form between the bassinet and the bed, allowing a child to fall into this space. This could force the child into a position where breathing is obstructed, leading to potential suffocation.

The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

From the official product safety notice on GOV.UK, published by the Office for Product Safety and Standards.

Checking yours

The model number to look for is C968 ALA-6-2. If you own a Monanito bassinet with two moveable legs and that number, take it away from the bed.

Why it matters for your bed or cot

A bedside bassinet is only safe against your bed if it stays there. Without a lock, it can drift and leave a gap a baby can slip into. If you use a bedside crib, use the straps or locks it came with to hold it against the bed.
