The hazard
The product presents a serious risk of suffocation as the product has no arm openings. This could lead to the suffocation of the baby if they slip down into the sleep bag while unattended, and the garment covers their face.
The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
From the official product safety notice on GOV.UK, published by the Office for Product Safety and Standards.
Checking yours
Go by the Fruugo listing ID rather than the listing name. Winter Sleeping Bag For Baby Newborn is generic enough that the same name turns up on a grey knitted bag reported on Etsy.
Why it matters for your bed or cot
With no arm openings, nothing stops a baby sliding down inside this bag, and the notice says the fabric could then cover their face. OPSS’s later alert on baby sleeping bags tells parents to buy or use only bags with arm holes and no hood.
