The hazard

The product presents a serious risk of suffocation because it is possible for the product to roll away from the adult’s bed when in use, creating a gap that is wide enough for an infant to become trapped. If the sleeping infant rolls into this gap and is trapped, their airway may be restricted, leading to suffocation.

The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

From the official product safety notice on GOV.UK, published by the Office for Product Safety and Standards.

Checking yours

These bassinets were destroyed at the border. The model number is 858; if yours is a grey wheeled bassinet with that number, stop using it beside your bed.

Why it matters for your bed or cot

Wheels make a bedside bassinet easy to move, and the same wheels let it move when you don’t want it to. A gap between bassinet and bed is where a baby can become trapped. Lock the wheels and fix the bassinet to the bed frame before every sleep.
