Risk
This product presents a serious risk of suffocation. The inflatable bumpers can create gaps between the product and the cot side or mattress, where a child under three may become trapped and unable to breathe. There is also a risk of strangulation from the attachment straps, and the bumpers fail to meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005—Office for Product Safety and Standards.
Corrective action
The import of this product has been rejected at the border and destroyed. The product listing has also been removed from the online marketplace (Amazon)—Office for Product Safety and Standards.
What to do
- If you are a professional importer or distributor, ensure no units enter the UK market and cooperate with border authorities.
- Consumers who have purchased similar inflatable bed rail bumpers should immediately stop using them and check for gaps that could allow entrapment. Do not use them until confirmed safe or replaced.
- Even though there’s no consumer-level recall in progress (the products were destroyed before retail), exercise caution with any similar items acquired elsewhere.
