Why our sleep experts loved it

We recently reviewed the alternative model to this one featuring the pillow top. This one comes in slightly different with a plush top and so today we will be talking about the difference and the benefits of buying this great product. Fortunately the core mechanics of the iGel Advance 3000 stay the same making it a great mattress for all types of sleepers. It has a comfortable, cooling design with targeted support thanks to those luxurious and plentiful pocket springs. What’s more there is additional durability that comes with pocket springs over traditional open coil springs, making it a great investment that will last a considerable period (hence the 10 year guarantee as standard).

So what is the difference between this model and the pillow top model? A pillow top mattress is a type of mattress that has an extra layer of padding sewn into the top of the bed while a plush top mattress is a type of mattress that has an especially thick layer of padding on top. The extra padding on a pillow top mattress is a bit more moderate than the extra padding on a plush top mattress and so if you really want a mattress that is extra thick and soft, you will probably want a plush top mattress.

But who else is the product suitable for? To start the iGel Advance 3000i  Plush Top is great for people who are sensitive to heat. It has open-cell technology that allows air to circulate throughout the mattress, keeping you cool and comfortable while the graphene infused memory foam reports to be 7 times better at keeping you cool over traditional memory foam. The iGel Advance 3000i is also great for people who want targeted support as the 3000 springs work with the gel foam comfort layer to give a plush feel that cradles you with a supportive hug. Finally you have the medium tension designation against the product, this gives maximum suitability as the firmness on display works for back sleepers and side sleepers a-like.

Who won’t enjoy this mattress? It’s difficult to say, iGel as a brand has got so many things right with this product that there isn’t much left to really be able to criticise. We’re not just saying that either, but when you pair 3000 pocket springs with an advanced high-performance better-than-memory-foam layer, you get a degree of satisfaction that is difficult to dissuade against. The one barrier we would say is around the price point, it’s one that alienates many of those invested in buying a product like this and will leave many in the budget and mid-range sectors missing out on experiencing it.

The overarching benefits of this and the pillow top model are the same, you get an impressive guarantee that beats off many of the sub-bar offerings in the rest of the industry. Same too with the choice of spring system and even the cover with its unique FreshNow™ moisture wicking component adds to what is a great experience.

Reviews for the iGel Advance 3000i Plush Top Mattress won’t come in for a few more weeks as this is a brand new model at time of writing. That said though, we’ve seen this configuration before and it performs exceptionally well in all typical circumstances. It’s a shame the barrier for entry and cost-to-play is so high in this instance as I have very little doubt this mattress can improve most peoples nights sleep.

Suitability

*Assuming average weight, suitability will vary dependant on body type, use the quiz above for a more tailored guide.
  • Back Sleepers
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • The amount of support offered from a mattress will vary depending on the firmness of the tension and the type of support layer used. Based on a person of average build.
  • Side Sleepers
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • If you sleep on your side you typically need a supportive tension that is not too firm, nor too soft. This is because your hips and shoulders need adequate sinkage.
  • Stomach Sleepers
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Stomach sleepers need a reasonable amount of tension in the base support layer to adequately offer body contouring and help prevent aches and pains. Results will vary based on your build.

Performance

  • Breathability
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Mattresses that feature breathable materials help promote airflow and keep you cool making for a more hygienic night's sleep.
  • Turning on mattress
    ★★★★★

  • Certain materials like memory foam can make it difficult to move about on the mattress while you toss and turn. Same too for pillow tops which can create a cloud like sensation which can make manoeuvrability challenging.
  • Stability

I am a hot sleeper and so have always avoided memory foam mattresses. But over the past few years no matter how carefully I have chosen a mattress, they have never given me the support and comfort I need. My back aches, my hips hurt and I toss and turn. So, did some research , went to Benson's , spoke to lovely sales assistant lady and bought the iGel mattress. Have been sleeping on it now for about 3 weeks and I mean sleeping on it. I got the medium which is perfect for me. I also bought the iGel Advance mattress protector and I can honestly say I do not have a pro lem with overheating. The mattress feels supportive. It kind of cradles my hips if I turn in my side but I am not aware of any constant tossing and turning. I wake up feeling as if I have had some quality sleep which is lovely. It is expensive, but how do you put a price on sleep. Things like this are always subjective. I just wish I had risked it earlier, it would have saved me all that wasted money on mattresses that I disposed of quickly because they were not what I was looking for. And the ability to try it out is good, even if there is an admin charge to exchange but it is a good fall back. I can highly recommend this mattress.

We have found this bed to be very comfortable to sleep on so no problems there. The only thing we have not liked is the smell from the bed. It is an ' iGel mattress' which appears to be the latest technology in beds! But, there has been quite a strong smell from it, assuming it to be the chemicals, VOC's , within the mattress and how it is made. We have had the bed for two weeks now and each day have pulled back all sheets and covers and had windows open, allowing the mattress to breathe. The smell is beginning to go away, but not too happy at having had to breathe in the smell over the past two weeks.

I'd made a previous expensive mistake- so was very wary - this one is really comfortable, as a side sleeper the IGel helps my shoulder and hip pains, relieving pressure but not too much sink in impeding turning over as for memory foam. I have yet to find out if the claims of regulating temperature ( neither too hot nor too cold) hold true, but certainly I've not been too hot, which I feared. Unable to provide an expert opinion of quality or durability, nor comparison of value for money. But it's worth it whatever for a good night's sleep.

We had a natural fibre sprung pocket spring mattress that had become so uncomfortable yet only 4 years old. Both me and my wife would wake up with backache. Having moved house we thought it was time to invest in a new bed. We tried loads of different shops and different beds. We went for the Igel advance 2500 as so glad we did. It is the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in (all be it, it's only been a few weeks yet) we both sleep soundly and in comfort.

We have had the mattress now for a month and can not praise the comfort or quality enough, It has changed how we sleep and we are very happy with it. It is definitely worth paying the extra and getting the best you can afford. Absolutely love the mattress. Benson for beds were really helpful. The staff were polite and never pushy. They left us to try out the different styles but we're always close to hand when needed. Can not fault them. Many thanks

Absolutely delighted with the mattress and the iGel pillows. Together they certainly keep the temperature at an ideal level for sleeping. We both find them really comfortable and cosy. Our previous base was the ottoman design but we found this exceptionally heavy to lift so decided to go for the 2-drawerr base which we find much more user friendly and are really pleased with how much we can store in them on our King Suze base

First night was not great, in the morning my husband and I experienced aches and pain. Second night morning after was better. As the nights progressed the bed became more comfortable. After 1 week we agreed it was the most comfortable bed we have ever had. We had the soft option and 100% made the right choice after trying several mattresses in store. Good quality made and we feel will be long lasting. Very happy with mattress.

I had a firm mattress prior to purchasing this medium one, yet it's quite firm and have a lovely sleep on it, it does smell a bit, so took a week or so to get used to it, it's better now the smell is dulling down a bit, once that over it's ok, just leave windows open and mattress covers off for a few days and it gets better, other than that an excellent buy and would definitely purchase again

Like that it's lighter than our old mattress although still heavy to move on your own and it has side handles for ease. Has taken a few weeks to adjust to it, still adjusting and getting the odd bad night, feels quite firm for a medium mattress. Have stayed warm with the iGel mattress even in the past few cold nights, will await how it keeps us cooler in the summer.

This mattress is so very comfortable; the best nights sleep we've had for a long time. it was quite a costly item even with the Black Friday discount but we believe pretty good value for the money. It's really too soon to comment on it's quality; it seems well made and well finished but only time will tell on the ultimate quality so have given 4 star initially.

I'm very happy with my new mattress. Really good quality and so comfortable. It was worth every penny. And I have to say Benson for Beds were very good to deal with, from the sales lady, who was friendly and helpful but not pushie, to the regular text messages regarding the delivery date. Everything was done very professionally. Highly recommended.

I liked it a lot but my wife found it got too warm and gave her back ache. It seems like a well made mattress and there was no "roll-together" but unfortunately the gel does not suit us both. The need to have to rotate it regularly is a bit of a pain and coupled to this there are no handles on each end to help with this.
