Why our sleep experts loved it

Today we’re taking a closer look at the Sealy Bronte Posturepedic Mattress from Bensons for Beds. If you're in the market for a new mattress, then you'll definitely want to keep reading because this one is a game changer. Not only is it expertly designed and handcrafted in Britain, but it's also endorsed by Allergy UK and has been designed in conjunction with the Orthopaedic Advisory Board. In other words, it's a top-of-the-line, high-quality mattress that you can trust to give you the best night's sleep possible.

Who this mattress might suit?

The Sealy Bronte Posturepedic Mattress is suitable for a wide range of people, but it might be particularly well-suited to those who:

Want a balanced level of firmness: This mattress isn't too firm, and it isn't too soft. It's just right, providing a good balance of support and comfort that should suit both side sleepers and back sleepers equally well.

Need a supportive, pressure-relieving mattress: The AlignSupport® spring technology and MemorySense® ComfortCore™ work together to provide deep down support and targeted pressure relief where you need it most, both of which are unique to Sealy and won’t be found in competing manufacturers products.

Want a mattress that's breathable and temperature-regulating: The breathable air mesh border and Intelligent SmarTex® fibres help to keep you cool and comfortable throughout the night, improving REM sleep and allowing you to sleep deeper for longer.

Have allergies or sensitivities: The ProShield® fibres woven into the fabric of the mattress help to keep allergens and dust mites at bay, making it a good choice for those with allergies or sensitivities.

Who this mattress will not suit?

While the Sealy Bronte Posturepedic Mattress might be suitable for a wide range of people, it's not the right choice for everyone. It might not be the best choice for those who:

Prefer a very firm or very soft mattress: If you like your mattress on the extreme end of the firmness scale, then this one might not be for you. It's a balanced, medium-firm mattress that might not provide enough support or comfort for those who prefer a mattress that's much firmer or softer. If you find your BMI is higher or lower than the average, the tension will also likely feel different to your expectations; A medium tension mattress will seem soft to a heavier person for example

Don't want a single-sided mattress: This mattress is single-sided, which means you can't flip it over. While this might not be an issue for some people, others might prefer a double-sided mattress that can be flipped and rotated for longer-lasting support that gives more surface area in the comfort layer.

The AlignSupport® spring technology support layer

The AlignSupport® spring technology support layer is a key feature of the Sealy Bronte Posturepedic Mattress. It's designed to sense your body shape as you relax into the mattress and provide deep down, consistent support in response. The unique construction of the spring ensures that you get the support you need where you need it, and the entire spring unit is also twice tempered for added strength and durability. This layer is the foundation of the mattress and plays a key role in providing the right balance of support and comfort.

The latex comfort layer

The latex comfort layer of the Sealy Bronte Posturepedic Mattress is designed to provide resilient pressure relief and a tailored level of comfort. It adapts perfectly to your body and moves with you as you sleep, recovering its shape easily for long-lasting comfort. This layer is paired with a firm foam layer for added support, and it's also naturally anti-bacterial to help keep your mattress feeling fresh and hygienic. Overall, the latex comfort layer plays a key role in providing a comfortable and supportive sleep surface.

Good for allergies

If you have allergies or sensitivities, then you'll be happy to know that the Sealy Bronte Posturepedic Mattress is endorsed by Allergy UK and features ProShield® fibres woven into the fabric of the mattress to help keep allergens and dust mites at bay. The breathable air mesh border and Intelligent SmarTex® fibres also help to keep your mattress feeling fresh and hygienic.

Pros and cons of a single sided mattress

There are pros and cons to both single and double sided mattresses, and which one is right for you will depend on your personal preferences and needs.

Some of the pros of a single sided mattress, like the Sealy Bronte Posturepedic Mattress, include:

They're easier to care for: Single sided mattresses don't need to be flipped or rotated, so they're easier to care for and maintain.

They're lighter and easier to move: Single sided mattresses are usually lighter than double sided mattresses, so they're easier to move and handle.

They're more modern: Single sided mattresses are more modern and are becoming more and more popular in recent years.

Some of the cons of a single sided mattress include:

They might not last as long: Single sided mattresses can't be flipped over to extend their lifespan, so they might not last as long as double sided mattresses.

They might not be as comfortable: Some people find that double sided mattresses are more comfortable because they can be flipped over to provide a different level of firmness or support.

Q&A:

As someone who is sporty and have struggled with joint pain throughout the recovery and rest, transitioning to the Sealy Bronte has been a game-changer for me. First & foremost, the support this mattress offers is unparalleled, supporting the key areas like the hips and shoulders. It alleviates pressure points & provides even distribution of my weight. I no longer struggle to trying to find a comfortable position the Sealy Bronte fulfils this requirement. The plush yet firm feel strikes a perfect balance, cradling my body while still providing the necessary support. I've noticed a significant improvement in the quality of my sleep since making the switch. Another aspect worth mentioning is the durability of this mattress. It's well constructed. Unlike my previous mattress, which seemed to sag and lose its shape within a few years, the Sealy Bronte remains resilient and supportive, ensuring long-lasting comfort. While this Mattress may come with a higher price tag compared to some other options on the market, the investment is well worth it. Overall, I highly recommend this Mattress to anyone in search of a restful night's sleep and relief from joint discomfort.

The decision to go with the firm option was hotly debated right up until we got to the desk to complete all of the paperwork. We are so glad we chose the firm. We had a medium Sealy orthopaedic mattress for nearly 15 years, which we liked but it was heavy and needed regular turning. With age, that was becoming a 'chore'. So, we retired our Sealy and went with a fashionable memory foam mattress, from Simba. Once bought, we felt we had to stick with it, but after a year it developed dips that would not smooth out and we both began to suffer backaches. Comfort and supportive sleep are worth the investment. We took advantage of a sale discount, spent the morning laying on beds. The firm Sealy pocket sprung posturepaedic with the gel topper makes ALL the difference. The gel topper ensures we are comfortable when we lay on our sides and it isn't so deep that it negates the pocket sprung support our ageing spines deserve.

This is the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on! I suffer with back problems but sleep so much better on this really comfortable supportive mattress. I know pain affects my quality of sleep, so to have such a comfortable mattress has been amazing! I like everything about it - the comfort factor, the fact that it doesn't move hardly when my husband turns over so we don't disturb each other. I can't think of anything I dislike about it. It is expensive but at our time of life (retired) it was an investment worth making! I would definitely recommend it!

This was our third Sealy mattress and my husband and I haven't been disappointed in the comfort of this Bront Elevated. We just bought a mattress this time as our Sealy bed base is still in good condition-even after many years. Like its description, the medium is just right between firm and medium and very comfortable. My only criticism is that is so tall! I am 5'11 and my husband is 6 ft and we find it hard to sit comfortably on the edge of the bed now! Perhaps Sealy should make some lower bed bases to accommodate these new high mattresses!

Decided on the Firm version as slatted base bed and its really comfortable and supportive - Felt firm first week then "normal" as I got used to it - no mean feat with both lower and upper back problems. Bensons staff in Livingston were really helpful and the only store to enquire what base was - slatted frame or divan and advised slats might soften the effect so go firm . This is my 4th Seally mattress - just note that std 25cm deep fitted sheets are a mare so budget for a few extra deep replacements...

My husband loves the support that this bed gives but I cannot cope with the really deep sections on the top layer. I find it so uncomfortable and take ages to get to sleep. It is such a shame because it didn't feel this way in the shop. I think we are going to have to exchange. I don't really understand why all of the tops of these types of beds have to be tufted! I ideally want a firm sprung mattress for support and a flat memory foam/softer flat top but they are always tufted!

This has to be the mattress of all mattresses. As soon as we sat on it in the shop, nothing else came close. The quality and firmness of this mattress is like nothing else. No roll together, you can sit on the edge with no dip. The best nights sleep, ever. My husband took a few weeks to get used to it, for me, a couple of nights. Teamed up with dorma bedding and I could live in bed!

The bed and mattress are very good indeed , that's what we've paid a lot of money for !!!, at the sort of price you'd think that bensons would collect your old head board , devan and mattress which by the way were in a good condition having been bought from bensons a few years before and costing several thousands of pounds.

This posturepedic mattress is great. Very supportive whilst still being soft and comfortable. I have arthritis and my husband has a back disc issue and we hadn't really found a mattress which suited us both.....until now. Would definitely recomend you don't have to give up comfort for support with this excellent mattress.

I have problems with my hips and have struggled to find a mattress that suits. I tried a different one and ended up exchanging it for this and this one has been great and hasn't caused me any problems. I do still have to use a pillow between my legs but my hips no longer hurt when I lie on them in bed.. We went medium.

Have always been very happy with purchases from Bensons and this mattress is no exception. It took a couple of nights to get used to it but now I am sleeping very much better. No way however can I rotate the mattress - it's very deep and heavy - so I am sleeping on alternate sides. I think this should be OK.

Fantastic mattress.. I prefer a slightly firmer mattress and the medium firmness gives me ample support. The fact that the sides of the mattress are firm and does not give when you sit on the edge of the mattress is great. The latex in the mattress is so much better than memory foam.
