When I pressed into the surface with my hand, it felt nicely cushioned on top but you can still feel that firmer support underneath.
The open coil spring system in the Lynx and other open coil alternatives has an outer steel frame which provides stability and durability giving better edge support and maximising the surface area of usable space. Sitting on the edge, it held up better than I expected for an open coil, but it is still not as solid as a decent pocket sprung mattress. Along with the spring system, the Lynx Mattress includes a cushioned foundation layer made from new-life yarns, something we are beginning to see crop up in other products tied to the Simply Bensons range. The mattress also includes a polyester filler layer that proves popular with the environmentally conscious since it is made from a minimum of 70% recycled plastic material.
Onto the tension and the Lynx is best suited to those looking for an orthopaedic feel mattress with a firm designation that will protect your back and neck as you sleep while not breaking the bank while doing so. If you're a side sleeper though, that firm feel can be a bit unforgiving around the shoulder and hip. The spring system within performs better than some counterparts and has reasonable body contouring with strong resistive properties necessary to fight against your body as it tries to sink into it.

The mattress is available in all popular mattress sizes and offers great value for money. Do bear in mind open coil designs can feel a bit more 'bouncy' and less isolating if you share the bed. The result of the above is a soft responsive comfort layer with a firm base that will help alleviate back and neck problems common with those that would require orthopaedic intervention.
