I came away from the ClimaCool 4400 Mattress with the same nagging thought I had on the shop floor: the comfort is decent, the headline spring count needs interrogating. Furniture Village lists 4400 pocket springs in king size, and that sounds a lot like a layered construction to me. Proper full-size pocket springs take space. Smaller springs can be useful, certainly, but I would ask a sales adviser to explain the build before treating that number as a simple upgrade.
The feel is much easier to understand than the spec. Medium, with a cushioned top and a firm enough border to stop the sides collapsing under you. I liked sitting on the edge. I trusted the marketing less.
Build, depth and the cooling story
This is a big mattress. At 34 cm deep it will sit high on many bedsteads, and fitted sheets may need checking if yours are already tight. The weights also tell you this is no lightweight boxed mattress: single 45 kg, small double 50 kg, double 52 kg, king 64 kg and super king 69 kg. Rotation is required, so plan for two pairs of hands.
The top comfort section uses 6 cm of ClimaCool foam. In the showroom it gave the mattress a plush first contact without turning it sloppy. The knitted fabric cover felt smooth enough, and the CertiPUR certification on the foam is a sensible reassurance. I am less convinced by the cooling pitch. Phase-change particles and carbon crystals may help manage temperature, yet a showroom lie-down cannot prove all-night heat control. A warm bedroom in July would be the real test.
Care instructions are stricter than some buyers will notice. Air it for 4 hours before use. Give the springs at least 4 hours to settle and reach full size. Slatted bases must have gaps no wider than 7.5 cm, otherwise dipping may become an issue and the guarantee position could get awkward. Small print, but not trivial.
How it felt in store
The medium rating feels accurate. Shoulder pressure was handled well during my side-lying test, with enough sink from the foam before the spring unit pushed back. It is a friendlier feel than many firmer pocket-sprung mattresses at this level, and back sleeping also felt stable for a short trial.
The range logic bothers me. The ClimaCool 2000 already gives most people the basic pocket-sprung and foam comfort package. The 3000 felt like a clearer step up when I tried it. This 4400 version adds another headline, another price jump, and not enough extra sensation under the body to make me relax about the spend. That is the problem.
Against the Simba Hybrid Pro, this has a steadier edge and a calmer, denser surface feel. Simba still has the advantage of being easier to judge through a proper home trial, while this store test only tells me how the ClimaCool behaves for a short period. Partner disturbance seemed controlled as I shifted around, but I would want a full night beside another sleeper before making a strong call there.
Who should consider it
Side sleepers get the best version of this mattress. The foam depth gives the hip and shoulder somewhere to go, so the body does not feel perched on top. Back sleepers who like medium support should also find it usable, provided they are not chasing a very firm, hotel-style surface.
Front sleepers should be careful. The comfort layer may allow the pelvis to drop a little, and that can become more obvious after weeks of use. Heavier buyers may appreciate the depth and edge support, although the care notes do say settlement and body impressions are normal and are not treated as defects. Anyone bothered by visible dips should read that twice.
My buying call
I would not buy the ClimaCool 4400 without a plain-English answer on the spring layout. Main springs, smaller springs, stacked layers: get the detail. The mattress itself feels pleasant, and the edge support is a real strength, but the specification reads as though the number is doing a lot of sales work.
My own shortlist would start with the ClimaCool 3000, then I would compare a Hypnos pocket-sprung mattress in the same budget area for a simpler construction story. The 4400 is comfortable in store. I am just not convinced it is the smartest spend in the range.
