I tried the ClimaCool 2000 Mattress in a Furniture Village showroom and came away with a fairly clear view of it: decent value, credible spring count, and a cooling surface that actually made itself known. The king size uses 2,000 pocket springs, which is well above the rough 1,000-spring mark I usually treat as the start of a respectable pocket-sprung mattress. That gives it a stronger case than many hybrids that lean heavily on branding and offer little detail underneath.
The first contact is cool. Noticeably so. I did not have to search for the effect or convince myself it was there. The surface had that slightly chilled feel as I lay back, and it stayed present during the short test. A showroom is still a limited place to judge overnight temperature, since body heat, bedding and a closed room change the picture completely.1
Cooling layer and construction notes
This is a 24 cm deep hybrid with pocket springs and a 4 cm ClimaCool foam comfort layer. Four centimetres is a decent amount of foam on top, enough to stop the spring unit feeling bare while keeping the mattress firmly in the supportive camp. The foam contains phase-change particles and carbon, both used for heat control. The marketing stretches that into year-round comfort; my own read is simpler: it feels cool, and people who already sleep cold should take that seriously.
The cover is knitted fabric, with CertiPUR-certified fillings. It is also described as hypoallergenic and supplied with a chemical-free cover. Those are useful points, although the cover’s long-term wear is impossible to judge from a showroom model that has not lived under a fitted sheet for months. I would want to see how that fabric copes with regular rotation and nightly use before getting too excited.
Care requirements are more specific than the sales pitch suggests. It needs 4 hours of airing before use, then at least 4 hours for the springs to settle and the mattress to reach full size. Slatted bases need gaps no wider than 7.5 cm, or excess dipping can become an issue and may affect the guarantee. No flipping is needed because it is single-sided. Rotation still matters. Easy to forget.
Feel on the bed
The tension is firm, and the label is accurate. On my back, the mattress held me level through the pelvis and lower spine, with a steady feel from the spring unit. On my side, the same firmness became less flattering. My shoulder wanted a little more give than the surface was prepared to offer.
Compared with the Emma Original Lite, this feels cooler at first touch and more braced through the middle. The Emma has a softer, more forgiving character. The ClimaCool 2000 suits someone who likes a tauter mattress and does not want that slow foam sink.
Edge support was neither a disaster nor a highlight. Sitting on the side produced a visible dip, though the border held enough shape for getting in and out of bed. Lying near the edge felt acceptable. A couple buying a double and using the whole width may notice the border sooner than someone on a king.
Motion transfer is harder to call properly from a solo shop test. Pocket springs should limit movement better than an open-coil unit, and pressing across the surface did not send obvious waves through the bed. That said, the real test is a partner rolling over at night, not my hand pushing into a display mattress.
Where it fits
Back sleepers are the natural audience here. The firm support and cool top work together well in that position, particularly for warmer sleepers who dislike being wrapped up by foam. Heavier sleepers may also appreciate the secure feel, provided the hip area feels comfortable during a proper lie-down.
Side sleepers need caution. The 4 cm comfort layer helps the initial feel, yet the mattress remains quite taut. Petite side sleepers could find pressure building at the shoulder. Cold sleepers face a different problem, because the cooling sensation is obvious enough that thicker bedding may become part of the setup in winter.
The weights are worth checking before delivery. Single is 30 kg, small double 42 kg, double 44 kg, king 54 kg and super king 64 kg. Larger sizes will need two people for rotating, and possibly some patience on tight stairs. Sizes run from single to super king, so the choice is broad, but the handling gets heavy quickly.
Decision
The ClimaCool 2000 makes most sense as a firm, cool back-sleeper mattress at a reasonable price. I would put it on the shortlist above many vague “cooling” hybrids, because the surface effect is obvious and the spring count is strong. My reservation sits with side comfort: anyone wanting a plusher shoulder feel should try the Sealy Posturepedic range or the Emma Original Lite before committing to this level of firmness.
