Laybrook FAQs
Is Laybrook really a UK manufacturer?
The beds are made in Bicester, Oxfordshire, and every page of laybrook.com carries the line 'UK manufacturer since 2004'. That date is a trading claim rather than a company age: the business behind the site is Laybrook Group Ltd, incorporated in September 2021; the original Laybrook Limited later went into liquidation and was dissolved in December 2025. Anyone checking Companies House should search under the newer name.
Is it possible to test a Laybrook bed first?
Yes, at the Bicester showroom. That is where the range can be tried in person, so anyone wanting a proper feel before ordering has a trip to plan. One caution before travelling: a bed bought in the showroom is excluded from the money-back guarantee, since the buyer has already tried it, leaving the mattress exchange as the only recourse.
Can a couple with different needs share one bed?
Yes, through the twin and dual models, which pair two halves that adjust independently so one side can sit up while the other stays flat, in widths up to 6ft. Standard doubles are listed as well, but independent side-by-side adjustment is a twin and dual feature, so a couple with genuinely different needs should start there.
Is there a weight limit on these beds?
Yes, and it matters more than on an ordinary bed because the frame does the lifting. The standard mechanism is rated to 18 stone and a heavy-duty version takes that to 25 stone. The spec is fixed when the order goes in, so heavier sleepers should settle the question with Laybrook first rather than discover the limit after delivery.
Can Laybrook make a non-standard size?
This is routine for them rather than an exception. Heights change in fixed two-inch steps and widths or lengths at a fixed alteration charge, taking the bed beyond the standard sizes. The catch sits in the small print: once 48 hours have passed, a bespoke Special Order cannot be cancelled, and getting the size wrong carries a collection and rework charge. Measure the room, and the sleeper, before committing.
