Tests & Verdict

Here we collect tests, guides and product reviews so that you can create a picture of what others think about the product. This analysis and review is based on my experience and 12+ years of industry insight.

Hypoallergenic mattresses are absolutely critical for those who suffer from allergies and require a little bit extra care in their sleep routine. Onto the Gel top layer and it's an ideal choice for those looking for much of the benefits of memory foam with non of the downsides around getting too hot and restricted at night.

With a premium product comes a premium price, this mattress is rarely reduced as the cost of it's components is higher than other mattresses in the lineup. That said, the average mattress lasts around 7 years which makes the cost of this mattress per night of sleep surprisingly reasonable.

My partner and I used the Sleepmatch service and were advised to go for a 'firm' rated mattress. We tried a few, having had a pillow-top SilentNight mattress for the previous 9 years, we were suprised to find that we both preferred the feel of this TherPur mattress, which was rated as 'extra firm'. Although we were nervous as we had never heard of this brand, we decided to go for it as we were covered under the 40 night guarantee and the mattress has good reviews online. We've been sleeping on this mattress for two weeks now and we are converted. From the first night, the mattress has been so comfortable for us both and we've been sleeping very well. It's also much lighter in weight than our old SilentNight so it's so much easier to turn and really get the fitted sheets tucked in tight. Cannot say if the ActiGel is doing much to keep us cooler at this stage as it's the middle of winter and the nights are colder anyway! But the mattress itself is great. If you need/like a firm mattress, I'd really recommend giving this one a try. As for Dreams, they were brilliant from start to finish, even price-matching the mattress as it went on sale before it was delivered to us. The delivery was perfect and the guys that delivered were polite and came within the time that they said. Our old mattress was taken away as well. We are very happy customers.

Our old matteress was past its best and we were looking forward to receiving our Therapur Actigel Response 1600. We spent what seemed like a long time trying out various mattresses at Dreams. The sales assistant was very helpful and left us to our own devices and offered advice when asked. So why only three stars? Our first mistake was to assume our slatted base would offer a similar feel to the sprung divan. It doesn't. It has made the matteress much firmer than it felt in the store. The top of the bed is cushioned but under that top cushion are springs that are very firm indeed, and unfortunately for myself it ensures I wake with an aching back especially since I sleep on my side/front. It is also a very warm matteress, to the extent that we immediately swapped our winter duvet for the summer duvet and we also have to sleep with the windows open, and this is in Feb/March. On the plus side we are saving money as we have also been able to turn the heating off in the bedroom. We have had the matteress for the 30 days and will be exchanging it for something softer and hopefully better at dissipating the heat.

With this pandemic being all bad news I must say going to bed has never felt so good, from the moment I walked in my local dreams store and was sized up on the 3d machine that scans you're body shape and sleeping position, apart from going on yet another diet I knew I was in no better place for a new mattress. The bed specialist really knew his stuff explaining the difference between the mattresses that the machine had selected. The service was first class paying extra care to areas that were touched and two metre distances were adhered too. And finally the unsung hero's the delivery guys were fantastic giving me a call to explain they were 30 minutes away and carrying the mattress to the bedroom which was a lot heavier than I expected. So I will finish off by saying Dreams thank you for your 5star service, oh yeah and my TV is starting to pack in, hint hint.

My fianc and I recently paid a visit to the Inverness store to just have a look We ended up on the mattress machine for a personal body scan to see what would be best suited to us both. It was absolutely amazing and the results were incredible. The mattresses it suggested to be best suited to us was 100% spot on. We ended up choosing the one we bought that day and we could not be more content! Its so comfortable and cool, its better than we could have hoped for. Isabella the lovely sales assistant was super helpful, she put no pressure on us whatsoever. She was very knowledgeable about everything which shows great training and customer care. I would highly recommend the store and the product! I can honestly say Ive not slept so well in a long time! Thank you Dreams!

I got this mattress a few weeks back and honestly it's changed my life. I no longer wake up ever couple hours aching and having to adjust my sleeping position. I am a restless and light sleeper, but I definitely wake up more refreshed and no more aches. One amazing benifit that we didn't even realise is that I can violently chuck myself about and it doesn't disturb my partner. At. All. He doesn't move at all while I'm tossing about. He's getting better sleep too! It's a great mattress so far (I know it's early days still) and would highly recommend if you need firm support. Also beware - it is very heavy. We hadn't yet build our frame when it arrived and just having to manover it from the upstairs hallway into the bedroom was a challenge!

Well this mattress is the star of the show! Wow... After sleeping on a medium firm mattress that was 8 years old and sagging, my back pain was excruciating, it was time for a new bed. I bought the Therapur actigel extra firm mattress from Dreams along with a divan base, headboard and pillows. I fell in love with this mattress in store and I've been sleeping on it for a few weeks now, back pain gone! Did I die and go to Heaven? No! I'm just sleeping on my new Therapur actigel mattress. It's firm yet so soft and comfortable, no squeaks or springy feeling. You really feel like you're sleeping in luxury. This was a brilliant investment, start your day with the best night's sleep ever. This mattress also has handles on the side for easy rotation.

Constantly suffered with back pain for months but with lockdown i decided to get a 'MATTRESS IN A BOX', what a mistake. After another month on the sofa and coming out of lockdown i called into Dreams and after three minutes on there fancy new tech bed, this was one of the mattresses it suggested. WOW What a difference. Three days getting used to it and i can finally get a comfortable, rested and full nights sleep. Slighly gives way to your body weight as it molds around you but fully supporting were you need it the most and most importantly keeping you warm withought overheating. Finally i can sleep again knowing i will wake refreshed and withought pain after a full nights sleep. Thank you Dreams.

we decided to get a new mattress, we had been in to store and tried a few before the lockdown and used the dreams bed scanner. it gave us three to look at and the one for us was the firm winner. it is very firm which is help with my partners back pain from old mattress. was best night sleep she had in 2 months. would recommend giving this one a try. I am now used to the mattress as it take a while to become adjusted to new mattresses, don't think for one minute its going to be plain sailing. allot of people don't realise you need time to adjust to a new mattress. a mattress is like a pair of shoes its needs time to break in. this mattress is ideal for for very firm needs.

We love our new mattress which is very comfortable. We have a 100 night sleep guarantee in case we don't get on with it, but so far very happy. We visited the Dreams store to find out the right mattress for us. It was easy to order online, we got a good deal on price and the communication on delivery was excellent. The delivery staff rang an hour before to give arrival time. They were on time, very polite, in smart uniform and wore over shoes before entering our home. They unwrapped mattress and took away all packaging. One of them talked us through the care of the mattress and the whole process was about 20 mins. Very satisfied and would recommend Dreams to everyone.

Bought just over a month ago and the mattress meets expectations - a little firmer than the one we have replaced so still getting used to it though we are sleeping better and longer than on the old mattress. Most importantly the whole mattress does not move when either one of turns over which is great. Therapur gel is interesting - comfortable, supportive and good in that respect but I cannot really feel the cooling properties - perhaps it is too much to expect to feel the benefit of it to come through the thick mattress protector and bed sheet. All the same we are pleased with the purchase

Excellent sales and delivery service...now to try the mattress...Having slept on the mattress for a few weeks now I can confirm this is a comfy mattress. It seemed firmer than the trialled in the shop, but then again this could just be the immediate change between old and new mattress. Occasional whiff of gel is smelt, but I am sure this will wear with age of mattress as it is already less and barely noticable. There are no end handles to assist in pulling whilst changing sheets, but then we may have been spoilt with our previous mattress as it is not common nowadays.
