Eco comfort fibres are a great comfort layer exclusive to Silentnight.

Why our sleep experts loved it

The Portrush mattress from the popular brand Silentnight is a fresh product to the market that aims to offer a pocket spring mattress at a fair price point.

The Silentnight Portrush mattress delivers the latest in comfort thanks to it's zoned support layer. With pocket springs at it's core, this mattress has springs housed in their own pockets, helping to prevent unnecessary spring movement and giving a better and more contoured support. With edge-to-edge support, you get the maximum sleep space with as little roll together as possible.

As a comfort layer, you get a layer of premium natural materials that are sourced from sustainable sources. The natural materials in many Silentnight mattresses these days comes in the form of Eco Comfort fibres, with this mattress being no different. Eco comfort fibres are recyclable and are made from plastic bottles. the result is that your top layer is both soft and durable.

Further to the top layer, we have an additional further layer of comfort via a pillow-top. This gives more comfort and in this instance, comes with a generous layer of memory foam.

The end result, eco comfort fibres, pocket springs, memory foam, everything you could ever want from a mattress.

Reviews for the Portrush are good but being such a new mattress in the line-up we've only managed to find 100 reviews at time of writing. Feedback initially looks strong with an impressive 96% consumer satisfaction driven by happy customers who find the mattress offers them everything they need in their sleep. Customers particularly enjoyed the back support, claiming it fixed their back pain after just a few days.  Others mentioned the firm tension took a bit of getting used to but the pillow top helped to deliver the necessary amount of softness to be able to get a great nights sleep.

Negative reviews are rare with only the one that I've found so far. The unhappy customer felt that the firmness was not as firm as it otherwise should be, however, being that tension is entirely subjective, aided by the fact that hundreds of other customers are happy suggests that this may be a personal preference issue.

Suitability

*Assuming average weight, suitability will vary dependant on body type, use the quiz above for a more tailored guide.
  • Back Sleepers
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • The amount of support offered from a mattress will vary depending on the firmness of the tension and the type of support layer used. Based on a person of average build.
  • Side Sleepers
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • If you sleep on your side you typically need a supportive tension that is not too firm, nor too soft. This is because your hips and shoulders need adequate sinkage.
  • Stomach Sleepers
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Stomach sleepers need a reasonable amount of tension in the base support layer to adequately offer body contouring and help prevent aches and pains. Results will vary based on your build.

Performance

  • Breathability
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Mattresses that feature breathable materials help promote airflow and keep you cool making for a more hygienic night's sleep.
  • Turning on mattress
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Certain materials like memory foam can make it difficult to move about on the mattress while you toss and turn. Same too for pillow tops which can create a cloud like sensation which can make manoeuvrability challenging.
  • Stability
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Depending on the type of support layer in place can have an impact on stability, edge to edge support and roll together prevention. Pocket springs of a firmer tension will have better stability than open coil soft tension, for example.

Odour

I bought this 2 weeks ago and its been amazing so far, the pocket springs combined with the memory foam pillow top makes this bed very comfy and a dream to sleep on! Far better than my old simba hybrid mattress as that one was all memory foam, Good pocket springs from a reputable company like silent night are the way to go! And the fact this bed has a pillow top to make it that lil bit comfier is great, the pillow top is lowkey essential.. The bed come a bit firmer than Id have liked took 3 nights to break it in, then it was perfect and its been very comfy ever since! I didnt see this bed in store as its online only but Im so glad I went with this one absolute dream! Only negative I do have is the fact it took 2-3 weeks to arrive which meant I had to sleep on my neighbours 10 year old mattress while I waited for it to come, defo worth it though. Positives Very comfortable Pocket springs provide adequate support without reducing any comfort It looks like a well built mattress that will last a long time 8 year guarantee for a extra fee but wasnt too expensive for the peace of mind provided Look for excuses to get to bed earlier now Perfect size (little bit smaller than my simba double but works well with my bed frame) Good height mattress! Mirapocket zoned springs are a great help to provide support & comfort Negatives Took what felt like a month for the item to arrive Cant see the item in any store in the Uk for some reason its online only which is annoying No handles on the sides so turning the bed round is a ball ache!! Overall Id give it 5 stars so far I may do another review 6 months in and let you all know how I get on with it as Im aware mattresses can change from 2 weeks - 6 months hopefully this one stays comfortable and supportive it looks well built so Ive got a feeling this will be the case.. Had this delivered just before Christmas, along with a new bed frame. First of all the price was a major draw and being put off of having a 'full memory foam' mattress went for this with its coil spring system and memory foam 'pillow top'. Our previous mattress had been a medium firmness and wasn't at all supportive so opted for a 'firm' mattress. When delivery day came the delivery guys were prompt, professional and took care of my purchase bringing it in to the house. Having built the bed frame myself and loading the mattress on to the bed I laid on it for the first time...wow. Very comfortable, supportive and not firm to the point of being harsh but what I would say is just right. Overall really, really happy with the mattress. If you're looking for something a little firmer that's not concrete and still offers excellent support and comfort...this is it.

Weve had this for over a week now and are very happy with it. We never tried in store so was a bit of a by chance buy online but we are pleased. I have slipped discs so it was important for the bed to be firm which it is even though there is a cushion top layer which actually makes you feel like you are being cuddled it is so cosy!! Also no more rolling feelings either whether into the middle or off the side it is very flat all in all very pleased and the cushion top just finished it off nicely!

This mattress is incredibly comfortable. Both my wife and I have back issues and knew we needed a firm mattress. However, with the addition of the pillow top this firm mattress is incredibly comfortable AND supportive. Our backs have never been happier. The delivery team were also incredibly helpful and nice enough to take it up two flights of awkward stairs and help remove the old mattress for recycling. Definitely recommend this!

I bought this to replace my old one which was really uncomfortable and I am so glad I did. I was a bit apprehensive but it was fantastic as I hadnt had a good nights sleep in a long time. It was so comfortable and every turn seemed to move with every curve of your body and I had a fantastic nights sleep for the first time in a long time. I would recommend anyone to try this mattress you wont be disappointed.

Its a great mattress if you want a firm pocket sprung but I could not tell there was any memory foam at all. The pillow top adds minimal softness. I like the firmness of the mattress but need a proper foam layer on top to sink into. I will be upgrading to a Sleepeezee Paddington. Quite a jump in price but I now know its worth paying the extra for a super comfy mattress.

This is a great mattress, very firm (which is perfect for us but if you prefer a medium mattress this isn't for you!). My only issue with it is that the pillow top doesn't really give the comfort it is intended to so we've added a mattress topper and now it's perfect! Also, you need to get the deep fitted sheets for this mattress, normal fitted sheets aren't deep enough.

After lower back problems leading to surgery I was in desperate need of a good supportive mattress. I researched all brands, particularly reading customer reviews and finally decided this was the mattress for me. At last I get a good nights sleep and get out of bed in the morning without pain. I love it so much, it gives both support and comfort in one mattress.

Bought online as this this wasn't a stock item that I could try out in store. Having had it for over a month now I'm happy to say that it's everything I'd hoped it would be. It's firm and very comfortable from side to side. I'm pretty sure this is down to the 'mirapocket' structure which was one of the reasons I took a chance on it in the first place.

So I had been suffering with chronic back problems and a new mattress was in order. It came almost a month later and I AM IN HEAVEN. It really was at that the moment I had never slept properly a day in my life. I wasn't home when the delivery came but my brother was sure to tell me to thank Andy and Ryan for taking off their shoes to make delivery.

Awesome mattress! We chose a medium to firm type and the sprung part is definitely the firmer part. The pillow topper is excellent and softens it up just right. Combined with a super soft sheet you're guaranteed a good night's sleep. The only downside is the non slip bottom which does slip on the divan base. But certainly not a show stopper.

In your main heading it says, 800 pocket, but in your overview, you say 682 pocket springs, which is correct. Thank you.

Answer: I apologise for any confusion caused, this is reflective of the king size mattress. The spring count varies on the size of the mattress, but the king size has 816 springs and the name is based off of this. Many thanks
