Testing the OTTY Pure Pro Hybrid Bamboo & Charcoal Mattress at home truly highlighted its stand-out quality and comfort. As a combination sleeper, I found this mattress offered optimal flex and ease of movement, allowing for a smooth transition between all my favourite sleep positions. Specially, the impressive cooling technology, coupled with activated charcoal-infused memory foam impressed me, ensuring a cool and undisturbed sleep even on warmer nights - a godsend for an average-weight sleeper like me. The generous edge support was a surprising bonus, making the entire mattress surface usable - a feature I thoroughly tested and appreciated during my home trial adventure.

Why our sleep experts loved it

The OTTY Pure Pro Hybrid Bamboo & Charcoal Mattress is a premium hybrid bed that uses natural materials in its design for a comfortable night’s sleep. After sleeping on it for several weeks, I found it very comfortable and supportive. This review covers how the Pure Pro is built, how it feels to sleep on, and its performance in key areas to help you decide if it meets your needs.

Materials & Construction

This mattress has a multi-layer hybrid construction that combines foam and springs. The cover is a soft-knit fabric infused with bamboo and charcoal, quilted with 2 cm of memory foam. This gives a plush touch on top while leveraging bamboo’s breathability and moisture-wicking and charcoal’s odour-reducing, hypoallergenic benefits. Beneath the cover, a layer of bamboo-charcoal memory foam offers contouring comfort and aids temperature regulation. Next is a layer of micro pocket springs that adds responsive bounce and improves airflow. Below that sits a high-density foam transition layer for extra support. The main core is a thick layer of 16 cm pocket springs (individually wrapped coils) for deep support and minimized motion transfer. These springs are encased by sturdy foam sidewalls (with air channels) for edge support and cooling, and the whole mattress rests on a durable foam base. The materials are high-quality and thoughtfully arranged, using eco-friendly components without skimping on support.

Firmness & Feel

The Pure Pro is medium-firm (about 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale. Initially it feels quite supportive and a bit firm, but as the memory foam warms up it begins to contour to your body. In my experience, this creates a balanced feel - your spine stays aligned (no excessive sinking) yet there’s a gentle cradling around the shoulders and hips. As an average-weight sleeper (~75 kg), I found the feel “just right” as it was supportive without being stiff, and cushioned without being overly soft. If you prefer an ultra-plush bed you might find it a touch firm, and very firm mattress seekers might find it closer to medium, but for most people it strikes an agreeable middle ground.

Pressure Relief

Pressure relief is excellent, thanks to the memory foam top layers. The foam in the cover and the additional charcoal-infused layer allow your shoulders and hips to sink in slightly and relieve pressure. When I slept on my side, my shoulder and hip were nicely cradled, preventing soreness or numbness. At the same time, the pocket springs beneath provide enough pushback to keep your body supported and aligned. After nights on this mattress, I woke up without any aches or stiff spots. It distributes weight evenly and cushions key pressure points while maintaining good support.

Cooling

Sleeping hot is a common concern with foam mattresses, but the Pure Pro includes features to help keep it cool. The bamboo-infused cover is breathable and moisture-wicking, which helps dissipate heat and sweat. The memory foam is infused with activated charcoal to resist heat build-up. Plus, the mattress has ventilated sidewalls that let air circulate out of the layers. In practice, I found the Pure Pro stayed at a comfortable temperature through the night - I didn’t wake up sweaty, even on warmer evenings. While any foam hybrid holds a bit more warmth than a traditional spring mattress, the Pure Pro’s design keeps heat retention low. Unless you are an exceptionally hot sleeper, it sleeps fairly cool for a hybrid.

Motion Transfer

The Pure Pro’s design does a great job isolating motion. The individually wrapped coils and foam layers absorb movement so it doesn’t ripple across the bed. If you share a bed, you won’t be jarred awake by a partner shifting around. In my test, I barely noticed when my partner climbed in or out. There is some bounce from the springs, but the energy doesn’t travel far. For couples, this means a more undisturbed sleep - you can change positions or get up without shaking the whole mattress. Overall, motion transfer is very minimal.

Edge Support

Edge support is strong on the OTTY Pure Pro. The reinforced foam encasement and robust coils allow the sides of the mattress to hold weight as well as the centre. I could sit on the edge to tie my shoes or lie near the edge without feeling like I would slide off. The sides stay firm under pressure, meaning you can use the full width of the bed. This lets couples spread out comfortably instead of feeling crowded in the middle. The sturdy edges also suggest good long-term durability, as they’re less likely to sag over time.

Suitability by Sleeper Type

Side Sleepers: The Pure Pro’s mix of cushioning and support works well for side sleepers. The memory foam layers cushion the shoulder and hip, so most average-weight side sleepers will find it comfortable with little pressure on joints.
Back Sleepers: This mattress is ideal for back sleepers. It keeps the spine properly aligned and supports the lower back. I felt my back was well supported all night, which is crucial for back sleeping comfort. The medium-firm feel prevents the hips from sagging, maintaining a neutral posture.
Stomach Sleepers: Stomach sleepers usually need a firmer mattress to keep the hips from dipping. The Pure Pro’s medium-firm feel is generally supportive enough for many stomach sleepers of average build - when I lay on my stomach, my hips stayed level. However, very heavy stomach sleepers might still prefer something firmer for extra support.
Combination Sleepers: If you switch positions, the Pure Pro is accommodating. Its responsive springs make it easier to move than an all-foam bed. I had no trouble rolling from side to back, and the mattress felt comfortable in each position. You never feel “stuck” in one spot, and both the cushioning and support remain consistent as you move.

Final Thoughts: The OTTY Pure Pro Hybrid Bamboo & Charcoal Mattress provides a well-rounded sleep experience that balances comfort and support. It excelled for back sleeping and also offered great pressure relief for side sleeping. With sturdy edge support and low motion transfer added to the mix, it ticks a lot of boxes for a high-quality mattress. With a 100-night trial and 10-year warranty for peace of mind, the Pure Pro is a strong option for anyone seeking a medium-firm hybrid that suits a wide range of sleepers.
