Silentnight Courage Waterproof Kids Mattress

The Silentnight Courage Waterproof Kids Mattress is a fantastic choice for parents who want to provide their children with a comfortable and safe sleeping environment. This mattress is designed to grow with your child, with a dual-sided design that can be flipped for a snug quilted sleep surface or a waterproof surface to protect against accidents. The specifications of this mattress are impressive and provide peace of mind for parents. We're trying a slightly new format below, where we look at the Courage in FAQ format.

What type of mattress is it? This Waterproof Kids Mattress is a traditional spring mattress with 192 traditional open coil springs to provide support from head to toe. This is the same type of base layer used in adult mattresses, albeit in a smaller capacity.

What is the firmness level? The firmness level of this mattress is described as "firm" and while I have laid on this mattress first hand, the firm spring unit is found in other Silentnight models and performs particularly well. When I lay on it, it felt properly supportive with very little sink, which is what you'd expect from a firm open coil. There are some benefits to a firmer feel in a kids mattress as the tension provides the necessary support for growing bodies, promoting good spinal alignment while reducing the risk of back pain. That said, lighter kids or those who sleep on their side might find it a touch firm around the shoulder.

What is the size and dimensions of the mattress? This is a children's mattress and is made available in a 3' single size only. This size is typical for a child's first full-size mattress and is typically recommended for children from the age of 3.

What are the materials used in the mattress and how environmentally friendly are they? The Courage Waterproof Kids Mattress uses Breathable EcoComfort Fibres™ to provide a soft and fairly deep comfort layer for the top of the product. This material is designed to promote air flow and regulate temperature for a comfortable sleep while also being great for the environment. The material starts its journey as hundreds of individual plastic bottles, manufactured into a luxuriously soft layer. When I ran my hand over the quilted side, it felt soft and smooth, but the waterproof side is a bit more 'plasticky' to the touch, as you'd expect. The mattress also has hypoallergenic properties, making it a safe choice for children with allergies. Just bear in mind that waterproof layers can sleep a bit warmer than a standard kids mattress.

What is the warranty and return policy for the mattress? The Silentnight Courage Waterproof Kids Mattress comes with Dreams' 100-night comfort guarantee and a 5-year manufacturer's guarantee, providing peace of mind for parents. The 100-night comfort guarantee is ideal for those who still have reservations buying online. What better way to try-before-you-buy than in the comfort of your own home. I do think 5 years is decent, but for a kids mattress that might take a fair bit of punishment, I'd always like to see longer if possible.

This mattress is a dream come true for parents who want to provide their children with a cosy and hypoallergenic sleeping environment. With its clever dual-sided design, popular traditional springs, and breathable EcoComfort Fibres™, this mattress is the perfect choice for children aged 3 years and older. The firm comfort grade ensures that your little one will have a good night's sleep and wake up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
