Why our sleep experts loved it
I got my hands on the Beautiful Dreamer Eco Dual Fibre Kids' Mattress in Dreams and straight away it felt like it had been built with the usual kid stuff in mind, warm sleepers, spills, and the fact they never stop moving in the night.
We know that your child deserves a mattress that will help them regulate their temperature for a good night's sleep, so that is why The Dreams Workshop has created the Beautiful Dreamer Eco Dual Fibre Kids' Mattress.
What's more it is both breathable and safe thanks to its hypoallergenic materials. This means it won't irritate your child's skin, nor cause problems commonly associated with allergies. Running my hand over the surface, it felt smooth and not scratchy, which is a big deal if your kid sleeps with their arms and legs all over the place.
Featuring Eco Dual Fibre as its main selling feature, this mattress gives a unique way to sleep, allowing you to choose between a firmer side that is ideal for back sleepers, or a warmer side that is ideal to keep your child snug and of a reasonable temperature while they sleep. Lying on the firmer side myself, it felt flatter and more supportive, the sort of feel that stops you sinking in too much. Flip it over and you can tell it's the cosier side, but if your child runs hot, that warmer side could be a bit much in summer.
One thing to be aware of is that this is a kids mattress, so if you've got a taller or heavier child, or you're buying it for a top bunk where you want a really sturdy feel, you might find it a bit on the basic side compared to some pocket sprung options. Also, if your child is a strict side sleeper, the firmer side can feel a touch hard around the shoulder, especially for lighter kids.
With a removable and washable cover, the mattress always stays fresh for its lifetime and ensures your little one can sleep comfortably without additional stress and cleanup from yourself.
I like the washable cover in theory, but in real life it does mean you need to stay on top of getting it back on properly, and if you're doing it solo it can be a bit of a faff. For me though, the two-sided idea is the main win here, it gives you a bit of control as your child grows and their temperature needs change.
