Why our sleep experts loved it

Today we’re all about mid-sleepers in the Dreams lineup and to start things off we have an all-encompassing bed from the retailer. The Anderson Mid Sleeper Bed Frame with Storage & Drawers is an ingenious solution for any child's bedroom in the form of a mid sleeper bed. With a bevy of features designed to provide not only comfort but also functionality and storage, this mid sleeper bed has quickly become a favourite among parents and children alike with an impressive 350+ reviews to date. With its incorporated desk, drawers, and den-like under bed space, it offers a complete package for a growing child's needs.

What We Liked

One of the most appreciated features of this bed is its high-quality construction. Parents found it to be very sturdy, with many remarking on the solid, reliable build. The bed seems to promise long-lasting durability, which is a crucial factor when investing in children's furniture.

An essential feature that has won the hearts of both parents and children is the functional and fun 'den' space under the bed. Kids love this as a play space or retreat, and it's been a significant factor in helping some children transition to sleeping in their own beds.

The pull-out desk is another standout aspect of this mid-sleeper and it is ideal for doing homework, crafts, or building LEGO creations. The sliding feature allows for the desk to be tucked away when not in use, freeing up valuable floor space.

The bed also scores high in terms of storage with some incorporated drawers and storage cubes providing ample room to stash away toys, clothes, or school supplies. This has been particularly appreciated by those who've installed the bed in smaller bedrooms, where optimising storage space is crucial.

What We Did Not Like

Despite its many positives, a few issues have come up repeatedly. The most prevalent concern has been the desk's durability - with several instances of desk runners breaking quickly, which could be a potential safety hazard but one that can be easily solved by activating the one-year guarantee.

In terms of assembly, while some found the process simple, others noted that it was time-consuming and the instructions were not always clear. The fact that the wood parts were numbered in the brochure but not on the actual items added confusion and increased assembly time for some.

Materials Used and Their Benefits

The bed is primarily made of solid wood, which adds to its robustness and stability. This choice of material ensures longevity and the potential for repainting down the line, which can help keep the bed relevant as your child's taste evolves.

What Customers Thought

Overall, customers were delighted with the bed, with a high number praising its solid build, storage solutions, and the extra 'den' space. For the children, the bed has been a hit, with many reportedly enjoying the desk and using the space underneath for imaginative play. The bed seems to have encouraged several children to sleep independently, thanks to its exciting features and the sense of 'adventure' it brings to bedtime. However, some disappointment was noted regarding the issues with the desk and assembly process.

Conclusion/Final Thoughts

To wrap up, this mid sleeper bed represents a fantastic option for families looking to optimise space in smaller rooms, or those seeking a bed that brings a sense of fun to bedtime. With a robust construction, ample storage, and additional features like a desk and den space, it offers much more than just a good night's sleep.

Despite some concerns regarding assembly, durability of the desk runners, and isolated cases of delivery mishaps, the bed still receives a high recommendation based on customer feedback. The space-saving design, coupled with the unique play and study features, make it an excellent investment for your child's bedroom. However, for future improvements, addressing the minor assembly and quality control issues could elevate this product's reputation even further.

Bought this for my three and a half year old as well need to convert his toddler bed back to a cot soon for my daughter. He manages the steps absolutely fine, I like that its not too high but he still feels super grown up. Decent bed for the money, the desk pulls out as far as you like so my son likes it part way out so he can crawl through and use under the bed like a den.The shelves on the desk part arent as deep as I imagined so limited on what you can actually store there. I was unsure if the drawers and shelves could be interchanged as saw mixed answers but as you can see from the image they can perfectly. My only negative is that the side panels on our bed are really tough and seem unfinished compared to the rest of the bed. We checked they werent fitted the wrong way. Other than that a lovely bed, just a shame about the quality of those sides or would have definitely been 5 star from us.

We bought this for our eldest who's 9 going on 90 as a summer surprise to freshen up her room. She is in the loft/bedroom conversion and this is low enough to leave more than enough room when up top for her to sit up. It comes with an attachable desk that easily slides out and away again so she has somewhere to work, draw and build her Lego. It also comes with a storage unit that can fit under the bed (hers is currently nestled behind the ladder and is tucked away nicely, giving the under of the bed a den-like feel). The bed itself is good quality and solid with only a couple of pieces that feel slightly flimsy. The instructions do say not to use a battery driver and this is probably why as I can imagine the extra force could snap or warp some of the wood. She loves it though and it's a great combination bed for a growing child.

My daughter wouldnt sleep in her own bed at night so we gave her an option of a new bed of her choice but to get it she needs to sleep in it all night on her own. I didnt think it would have worked out but shes now slept in her own bed every night since it was built. I paid for them to build as am disabled and would struggle alot to build it. The guys asked if i knew which side i wanted steps and i asked them to put it the way i needed It was built within 30 minutes and ready to use. My daughter loves it easy to clean and by far the sturdyest bed ive seen my daughter marked it with pen by accident and it wiped off leaving no mark. Definitely worth the 499 price tag. Even the cubes and draws are big i was surprised with how deep they are.

My daughter and i spent a few months looking at different mid sleepers as we were redecorating her bedroom as she had outgrown pink and Frozen! This is just perfect. i love that we were able to go an see it in a showroom rather than just relying on looking at at a picture on the internet. The staff were really helpful and it only took minutes to order the item. It was delivered with 4 weeks direct from the manufacturer and the delivery guys couldn't have been more helpful. I paid extra for assembly which they completed in less than an hour. My daughter (10) loves the bed and the desk. Tonnes of storage, really solid. Looks great.

Positives: the bed frame. The bed is all right, but I had a hard time assembling it. It was two of us. 28 screws just for the slats. Due to the assembly complexity I would not buy this product again. I don't like the desk - how it's assembled and the way it's held together with the bed frame. The cube is still kept in a spare room (after a week) due to the strong odour (fibre board style). One of the slats is cracked so I have asked for a replacement one.

This bed is perfect for space saving. I bought it for me 6 years old. There is amole space for play or storage under and all around the bed. The drawers have good depth, about 30cm+. Everything but the table can be pulled out and kept elsewhere if need be. Its sturdy (even with me on) and has all round barrier protection when used with the recommended 15cm depth mattress. The bed was fitted by Dreams staff in a little over 30minutes. I would buy again.

This bed is absolutely fantastic! My son loves it to bits! He's sleeping better, he loves to play in and around it. The storage capabilities have saved a lot of space in his room and are ample. The desk slides smoothly and when out, makes a great den. The chaps who delivered it and built it were so kind, so efficient and took all the rubbish with them. Could not ask for more out of this entire experience.

I bought this after looking at many other mid sleepers from different companies and so pleased I chose this one from Dreams. My 10year old son is thrilled to bits with it and loves the pull out desk feature. The drawers provide adequate storage for his needs. We chose not to use the shelving cube that came with it and my son likes to use the space underneath the bed behind the drawers as a secret den.

I bought two of these beds, one for each of my children. They absolutely love them! There is a little 'den' space underneath that they think is great. But from a parents point of view the storage offered is great. Everything can be easily organised and stored even in a small room. The desk runners are very weak and one broke as soon as we used it. But we order replacement metal ones online easily.

Needed a bed to fit into our sons rather small bedroom. This bed is a great size and the add ons (chest of drawers, desk and storage cubes) make it a great buy. Ideal for maximising space. It went together well and the instructions were easy to follow. I would recommend. (Please note , the pic attached to this review was taken before any of the add on items were built. The pic shows the bed only).

We had been looking at various options for our daughter's new bed, living in a new build her room isn't massive so we were quite restricted on space what with adding a wardrobe in the room too, we looked at many different companies and bed styles, this best suited our circumstances, the bed itself is very well designed and is good quality, we also paid for the installation which was a god send.

Hello, can you tell me whether we can buy it without the storage cube as we don't really need this? Thanks

Answer: If the cube is in the picture it comes with and you cannot separate however there are many different examples of this product online without the cube, if the set up you like best has the cube in the picture then I am really sorry it does come with the bed although you can remove it from the set up if you prefer to.Thank you.

We love this! However we would be looking to build it in the right top corner of room. Looking from foot of the bed, Can ladders be fitted on left side near foot of bed and desk be pulled out to the left at the head end of the bed?

Answer: The ladder can be positioned on the right or left hand side of the bed but is unable to go on the foot end of the bed. In addition, the chest of drawers and storage cubes are free standing units and so can be positioned where desired.

I have two questions please: 1) Will the bed with desk extended fit into a space 185cm wide? 2) If no...Can the desk be pushed in to fit as space of 185cm? Would desk still be useable? Thankyou

Answer: The desk pulls out to a maximum of 190cm (including the frame) but can be extended to what width you would like it. It is usable but the work space will obviously be smaller the less you extend from out of the bed.

Is white the only colour this bed comes in - wondering if there is a similar option in light brown please

Answer: The Tinsley Midsleeper is only available in white and is unfortunately not available in any other colour option. The Kenny Midsleeper is a similar style to this frame and is also available in a light brown.

What is weight limit / age limit for bed? In earlier questions your advisors have said Helen-m1 answered children only BUT manny9 said no age limit and currie 7 said sturdy enough to hold an adult. Please can you provide a definitive answer. Thank you

Answer: There is an age limit due to bed frames potentially being unsafe for younger years. All of the bed frames are designed to hold an adult, therefore this bed will be fine for any age.Thank you for your question.

Could you please confirm whether or not the desk and cube storage can be placed in the opposite positions to those pictured ie drawers next to ladder and cube in end of bed as answers so far are conflicting?

Answer: The drawers and cube are freestanding so you will be able to move these how you wish. However we recommend that these are placed as pictured for the most efficient use of space. Many thanks for your question.

How well does the desk move in and out on a carpeted floor compared to a hard surface please?

Answer: I'm afraid we cannot give an definitive answer for this as it would depend on the pile of your carpet - however the desk has been designed to be easily pulled in and out when required. Thanks, Dreams

Are you able to replace the storage cubes with a second set of draws

Answer: Thank you for reaching out with your question. Unfortunately we do not sell the sets of draws separately nor is it possible to order two sets of the draws with the bed itself. .
