What our reviewers found
Listen to the review on our podcast
As a mattress reviewer, I have had the privilege of inspecting a multitude of mattresses, both in store and at home. It is an industry where attention to detail, keen observation, and a deep understanding of sleep behaviour are imperative. I recently had the opportunity to review the Silentnight 70 x 140cm Safe Nights Lullaby Cot Bed Mattress in store. And I must say, it was an enlightening experience. Silentnight has over 80 years of sleep expertise, a reputation that demands rigorous examination. This review is my attempt to provide an unbiased, detailed and thorough understanding of the product.
Design and Features
The Silentnight Lullaby mattress provides an excellent blend of innovation and traditional design principles to offer a safe, comfortable sleep surface for babies. Made with a breathable polyester core, the mattress is designed to regulate the baby's temperature - a critical consideration given the sensitivity of a baby's skin. The outer cover, defined by its quilted soft-touch, is adorned with a serene cloud-print design-a delightful visual that breathes an air of tranquillity.
One of the standout features is the easy-to-remove, machine washable cover, which signifies a thoughtful consideration for parental convenience. The inner sleep surface, usable even when the outer cover is being washed, ensures that nothing gets in the way of a good night's sleep for your little one. Being a firm mattress, it provides the firm, flat surface safe-sleep guidance calls for, thereby adhering to the widely prescribed guidelines concerning baby mattresses.1
Mattress Comfort
Comfort is subjective when it comes to mattresses, particularly in the case of babies whose comfort needs can be drastically different from adults. When I tested this cot bed mattress in-store, I found Silentnight Lullaby to be commendably firm, clearly designed with the intent of supporting the baby's developing body. But it is not just about firmness; the mattress has a sense of cosiness facilitated by the soft-touch quilted cover, effectively complementing the inner firmness. This juxtaposition of comfort and support finds a delicate balance in the Silentnight Lullaby, a characteristic I believe will be immensely beneficial for the baby's sleep quality.
Suitability
Are you a new parent seeking the safe and delightful haven of sleep for your little one? Look no further. The Silentnight Lullaby Cot Bed Mattress ticks every box. Be it temperature regulation, a hygienic sleep environment free of irritating chemicals, or the substantial support needed for the baby's developing body-the Silentnight Lullaby delivers. It comes with a 5-year manufacturer guarantee, further sign of its durable quality.
What Customers Thought
One parent wrote, "Our baby sleeps amazing! He now sleep, rolls over and enjoyed the comfort of his bed!” The same parent added, "Going from a Next to me bed to a cot bed was the best transition". The Dreams staff review mentions the "cushioned, supportive sleep surface" and the "removable, washable cover".
The Verdict
My experience with the Silentnight Lullaby Cot Bed Mattress left me with a strong sense of appreciation for the thoughtful design and evident quality. It makes the bold promises of offering a safe, comfortable, hypoallergenic, and convenient sleeping solution for babies-and it delivers.
It might indeed be the perfect choice for those seeking a seamless blend of ergonomics, comfort and convenience together creating an enviable sleeping environment for the little ones. As both a mattress reviewer and a staunch supporter of quality children's bedding, I wholeheartedly endorse the Silentnight Lullaby Cot Bed Mattress.
