How We Tested
Our detailed evaluation of the Flaxby Ottoman Divan Bed Base comprised of thorough in-store assessments, where we immersed ourselves in an exhaustive inspection of the design, features, and construction. Although we did not trial it in the comfort of our own home, we took an in-depth look at comfort, utility, craftsmanship, and overall customer satisfaction garnered from existing customer reviews.
Design and Features
The Flaxby Ottoman Divan Bed Base is a brilliant fusion of traditional divan base design with modern innovations for optimal performance. With the advantage of ottoman storage, it presents an end-opening under-bed storage area that is 25cm deep, featuring easy-lift pistons for accessibility. Its luxurious padding amplifies comfort whilst extending the lifespan of your mattress. Available in an array of lively colours and fabric choices, all sustainably sourced from the UK, the aesthetic appeal of this divan base can magnificently coordinate with various bedroom decors.
Construction
The conscientious craftsmanship behind the Flaxby Ottoman Divan Bed Base is sign of its robust assembly. Expertly handmade in the UK by Harrison Spinks, this divan base incorporates the use of FSC® certified wood and recycled polyester, underlining its environmentally responsibly creation. With a rest-assuring 5-year guarantee, this luxury divan base stands confidently packed with superior quality materials fitting for long-term use.
Suitability
Whether you're looking for an amelioration in sleep quality or seeking to minimise bedroom clutter, this divan bed base could be an ideal choice. The generous storage capacity offers 4x more space than a traditional divan base, perfect for stowing away bedding, linen, clothes, shoes, and much more. The luxurious padding serves to cushion the sleep surface and, combined with a sturdy platform design, maximises the support of the mattress.
Customer Feedback
Storage is what owners mention most. One owner who is downsizing called it "'stealth' storage", and another wrote that there's "so much room underneath in the base for all my bedding and extra pillows". The build comes up often too: owners describe it as "sturdy, well made" and "finished in lovely fabric", and one found it "easy to use". On the downside, one owner found the lid wouldn't work because their mattress was too heavy, which fits Dreams' advice to keep the combined mattress and bedding weight between 27kg and 65kg so the ottoman opens and closes easily. Another had "a slight problem with the corners", which was due to be sorted.
The Verdict
After our detailed assessment and reviews from existing users, it's clear the Flaxby Ottoman Divan Bed Base is a impressive addition for any bedroom. Characterised by a strong build, a luxurious padding, and spacious storage, it promises both comfort and practicality. Skilfully handmade to a high standard and available in a range of colour and fabric options, it's a statement piece that promises to enhance the quality of your sleep and the aesthetic appeal of your bedroom. Given the overall presentation, quality, and customer feedback, the Flaxby Ottoman Divan Bed Base is indeed a sound investment for anyone seeking a luxurious divan base with the added practicality of an ottoman storage.
