There's a certain luxe pride that comes with being a connoisseur of excellent sleep, and, as someone who is passionate about the construction and fabric of our everyday sleep companions - mattresses, bed frames, and bedding; after over a decade of being neck-deep in the industry, my knowledge base is both broad and deep. Today, I'm excited to present the Flaxby Shallow Divan Bed Base, bringing you a thorough review of this truly distinctive product.
How We Tested
Being in the United Kingdom, we have the privilege of visiting physical stores and getting hands-on experience with the products. Every element of this Flaxby Shallow Divan Bed Base was analysed carefully - from the handle for lift-ability to the seams for durability and the legs for structural strength. We compared it with other products within the same category and price range. Sadly, for this review, a full home trial session was not conducted.
Design and Features
Undoubtedly, the Flaxby Shallow Divan Bed Base is a sleek sleep-enhancer with its slim-line design raised on supportive wooden legs. The luxuriant padding adds an extra cushioning effect that your body will thank. Featuring additional edge support, it ensures both comfort and stability, promising a well-aligned sleep. With an array of 15 sustainable fabrics and colours sourced in the UK, you have a chance to make an eco-friendly choice that fits perfectly with your bedroom's aesthetic.
Construction
Quality and sustainability meet in the hands of Harrison Spinks' skilled craftspeople who bring the Flaxby Shallow Divan Bed Base to life. This luxuriously upholstered base is constructed using FSC certified wood and recycled polyester, hitting all the right chords for those prioritising sustainability. It's like welcoming a piece of the forest right into your bedroom, minus the bugs, of course!
Suitability
When it comes to suitability, it's indeed a rather personal element. The Flaxby Shallow Divan Bed Base is ideal for those deep mattresses due to its low height. But on a personal note, despite the premium brand label and the benefits it provides, its price tag seems a tad high. While for some, the cost may be justified, for others, like myself, the value proposition may not completely align.
What Customers Thought
Owners who have reviewed it talk about the build and the look. One wrote "A very high quality divan bed base. The finish is superb and it provides a stable base for my bed." Another called it "Comfy and looks great. Beautiful colour and finish". The Dreams staff review says it pairs well with a deep Flaxby mattress with a removable pillow top, because the lower base keeps the mattress at a comfortable height. On price, one owner wrote "It wasn't cheap, but well worth the money", which is more forgiving than I am.
The Verdict
Conclusively, while the Flaxby Shallow Divan Bed Base ticks several boxes - from style to support, and from quality to sustainability, its price tag remains a bone of contention for some potential buyers, and while I personally cannot overlook that aspect, owners who have reviewed it rate the quality highly, and one calls it well worth the money. It boils down to personal preference, the weightage given to the quality, craftsmanship and sustainability aspects of a product, and ultimately, the perceived value it brings.
