Of the turnable mattresses in Wentworth Mercer's Natural Pocket line, the 1000 is the only one graded Medium: the entry rung below the Medium to Firm 1500 and the firmer Wentworth Mercer Natural Pocket 2000. You get the same cotton and synthetic filling mix in a traditional tufted mattress, with fewer springs and a softer feel.
I'd put it in a first flat for a lighter sleeper, or on the shortlist if you sleep on your side and dislike enveloping foam. It's fine for the money. Avoid it if you're heavy, sleep on your back and need firm support, or if you know you'll never turn a mattress. A thousand springs is on the light side, and I'd describe the fillings as mostly polyester despite that "Natural" name. Cotton is present, but let's keep the woodland daydream in proportion.
The 1000 springs form one proper support layer
The spring unit is modest, but all 1000 springs belong to the main support layer rather than a stack of miniature comfort springs. Each sits in its own cloth pocket so it can compress on its own. Mattress Online doesn't say which size that count describes, so ask before comparing it with another bed.
The advertised "zero roll-off" rests on a rod-reinforced edge and a double row of side stitching, which count if you share a double and need its full width. One owner who sleeps on the edge reports "very firm edges, not squidgy", though that review may predate the switch from an I-Fibre border to the rod edge.
The Natural name stretches a cotton and synthetic filling mix
This is a polyester-led mattress with some natural material. Soft white fibres sit on top, then a blend of polyester and cotton, and the same layers repeat under the springs. Mattress Online itself describes soft white fibres as synthetic fillings. Wool appears only in the tufts that pin the fillings in place, so it isn't a wool-filled mattress.
"Cloud indulgence" translates into fibre cushioning over pocket springs, graded Medium, with no foam named anywhere. Earlier descriptions named a cotton and silk layer, air vents and an I-Fibre border, and the live listing names none of them and specifies a rod edge instead. If you run hot and want substantial natural fillings, choose a wool mattress instead.
The early owners like the comfort, but their evidence is thin
The small owner sample is encouraging without being enough to settle durability. Owners find it comfortable, one from the first night, and another says it feels sturdy and holds its shape. The edge sleeper normally goes for medium to hard and found this one right, so I'd expect the firmer side of Medium.
The oldest reviews, the edge sleeper's included, may describe the earlier cotton and silk build, since none of them names a filling. With so few to go on, lean harder on the construction and the exchange terms.
Two usable sides need a care routine the listing leaves out
Two faces are this mattress's strongest practical advantage, provided you turn it. Turning handles are supplied, but the listing tells you to flip it according to a routine it never prints. The care guide Mattress Online links from the brand's Deluxe beds says rotate and turn more often for the first twelve weeks, then every couple of months, and that's a fair routine here too. Put it in your calendar. My evening Vinted scroll ends with me asleep holding the phone, so I need the reminder.
At 29cm (about 11.4 inches) it sits just under the depth where I start nagging about fitted sheets, but the listing allows two centimetres either way, so measure yours if they're already snug. Mattress Online's own 100-Night Comfort Trial offers an exchange, not a refund, and you must buy Mattress Online's protector with the bed to qualify. Ask about exchange charges and the guarantee's sag-depth threshold first, because neither is listed.
A pricier Hypnos gives you only one side
Would I buy it? For a side sleeper on a budget who will flip it, yes, and I'd pick it over the Hypnos Cawthorne Deluxe, which Mattress Online has tended to price higher. I rate Hypnos, and that bed also has 1000 pocket springs, a rod edge and a Medium grade. It's single-sided, though, so the extra buys the name rather than a second face.
What to buy instead
If you lean firm, look one rung up the Natural Pocket line first: the same fillings and edge, five hundred more springs and a Medium to Firm grade. Heavier back sleepers should go on to the 2000, graded Firm. If you came for natural fillings, price the Millbrook Wool Luxury 1000 Pocket, which has tended to cost less. It's turnable with wool and cotton, but it's graded medium to firm and only 25cm deep, so don't trade away the softer feel you came here for.
