But if you’re purely chasing comfort-per-pound, I’m a bit sceptical. Some of the budget is undeniably tied up in contract certification, and many domestic mattresses will feel more luxurious for similar money.
Sleeping position wise, I’m comfortable saying this medium firm tension should suit back and side sleepers of average weight well. Side sleepers with a pronounced hourglass shape might find it a touch too firm through the shoulder and hip, and they may prefer something with more give. But back sleepers should get the kind of even support that helps you feel level rather than hammocked.
The verdict
The Dura Humber Crib 5 Contract Mattress reads like a workhorse. Traditional damask, tufted finish, open coil springs, and proper edge reinforcement. It’s built for compliance and longevity, not for Instagram-worthy plushness. And I respect that. Customer comments we’ve seen tend to match that expectation, with buyers valuing the supportive feel and the practical, contract-grade build rather than describing it as indulgent. If you need Crib 5, I’d shortlist it. If you don’t, I’d only buy it if you actively want that firmer, sturdier, low-fuss style of comfort and you’re happy paying a bit extra for the added safety credentials.
