What our reviewers found

Pros

  • Combination of natural wool and cashmere fibres provides a warm, plush and comforting layer for a cosy sleep.
  • The 2800 pocket springs offer tailored support that adapts to the body shape, promoting better sleep posture and reduces aches.
  • Smart airflow ventilation through the air vents increases breathability and promotes a fresher sleep environment by dissipating heat and moisture.
  • Edge-to-edge support allows for maximised sleep surface with a 'no roll-off' sensation, improving the overall sleeping experience.
  • The chemical-free and hypoallergenic features of the mattress make it suitable for those with sensitive skin or allergies, ensuring a healthier and comfortable sleep.

Cons

  • The Sleepeezee Wool Luxe 2800 Pocket Mattress, while offering a medium firmness, may not provide adequate support for heavier individuals or those who prefer a firmer sleeping surface.
  • Despite the inclusion of air vents for breathability, the wool and cashmere layers may retain heat, potentially causing discomfort for those who sleep hot.
  • The mattress is quite deep at 29cm, which could pose a challenge when moving the mattress due to its size and weight.

With Sleep, comfort often meets necessity, and the mattress you choose can significantly impact the quality of your nightly rest and your subsequent daily well-being. Stepping into this domain with finesse and an aura of luxury is the Sleepeezee Wool Luxe 2800 Pocket Mattress. This mattress, brimming with thoughtful design and premium materials, promises a sleep experience that melds plush comfort with robust support. Made with an exquisite combination of materials like natural wool and cashmere, coupled with a sophisticated pocket spring system, it beckons those seeking that perfect blend of luxury and practicality.

How we assessed it

On paper this is a medium with some bounce and a cushioned top: full-size pocket springs for support, mini pocket springs above them, then wool blended with cashmere, with a tufted damask cover on top. The 2800 on the label is counted on a king size and adds the mini springs to the full-size ones, so I wouldn't buy on the number. A tufted top is pulled down tight over its fillings, so I'd expect it to feel a touch firmer at first than "medium" suggests, and one owner did find it too hard.

The edge should be solid, because the border has three outer rows of springs in a thick gauge wire, so you can sit on the side of the bed without sliding off. That's the first thing I'd look at if two of you are sharing anything smaller than a king. It's 29cm deep and double-sided, with turning handles, so flip it every few months and both sides share the wear. One owner put their cool nights down to the filling: "the natural fibres are so much better than the synthetic ones for keeping cool".

Design and features

The Sleepeezee Wool Luxe 2800 Pocket Mattress prides itself on a sophisticated design that integrates 2800 pocket springs. This detailed system combines both standard and mini pocket springs, creating a dual-layer effect that marries robust support with superior comfort. Each spring is encased in its own fabric pocket, enabling adaptation to your body's movements, ensuring personalised support tailored to each pressure point.

The luxurious top layer of natural wool, paired with cashmere fibres, offers a sumptuous initial touch. Wool, known for its natural insulation, provides warmth during winter and cooling effects during the summer, marked by its breathable qualities. Cashmere complements this by offering a plush, lightweight feel that is both gentle and accommodating, improving temperature regulation throughout the night.

Adding to its structural integrity, the mattress has a calibre edge design, supported by three outer rows of robust springs. This feature ensures that the mattress edges provide firm support, allowing for use right up to the borders without experiencing that unsettling ‘roll-off' sensation.

Ventilation facets smartly incorporated into the mattress sides help in heat and moisture dissipation, leading to a cooler and more comfortable sleep, supporting its hypoallergenic construction. The absence of chemical finishes further ensures that sensitive skin remains unharmed.

Mattress comfort

Experiencing the medium firmness of the Sleepeezee Wool Luxe 2800 is akin to finding the balance between support and plushness. This mattress positions itself firmly in the median of the firmness spectrum, catering primarily to side sleepers while proficiently accommodating back sleepers who prefer a slightly more yielding surface. However, individuals with a preference for distinctly firmer support should consider alternatives to suit those particular needs.

The plush wool and cashmere layers do an excellent job of cradling the body, providing subtle support that evenly distributes body weight, alleviating pressure spots especially beneficial for those who tend to suffer from joint discomfort. That fits what one owner reported after seven weeks: "no waking up with cricks".

Suitability

The Sleepeezee Wool Luxe 2800 is well-suited for a diverse range of sleepers thanks to its adaptive features. Side sleepers particularly benefit from the pressure relief provided by the mattress's strategic layering and the added cushioning effect of mini pocket springs. The medium firmness allows for versatility, accommodating various sleeping positions, although those who favour a firmer foundation may require a product with greater support.

The enhanced breathability and smart ventilation cater well to individuals who naturally overheat during the night, while its hypoallergenic properties make it a viable choice for allergy sufferers seeking a restorative night's sleep without irritation.

What customers thought

Owners mostly call it comfortable. One wrote, "Asked for medium mattress, It Is, very comfortable." Another found it "supportive but very cushioned so incredibly comfortable". A third called it a "Very comfortable deep mattress" that is "really well made and luxurious".

Owners also write about aches and pains. One said their old mattress "gave me aches and pains now I am a new woman". The owner who found it cushioned, seven weeks in, wrote that it "Seems to have resolved my sciatic problem in my back and my husband's shoulder issue". The same owner said it "doesn't get hot at night either" and that it had kept its shape with regular turning.

Not everyone got on with it. One owner wrote, "It's too hard and a total waste of my money".

The verdict

The Sleepeezee Wool Luxe 2800 Pocket Mattress commands attention with its blend of high-quality materials and clever design. It serves a wide spectrum of sleepers, particularly excelling for side sleepers who crave a gentle balance of support and cushion. The thoughtful integration of wool and cashmere ensures both comfort and a steady sleep temperature, characteristics crucial for a restful night.

Owners' reviews mostly support the comfort claims put forth by the manufacturer. Nonetheless, those with preferences for firmer sleeping surfaces may wish to explore firmer options, weighing the pros and cons based on individual needs.

In sum, the Sleepeezee Wool Luxe 2800 stands as a worthwhile contender In luxury mattresses, boasting a impressive 10-year guarantee, a nod to its enduring quality and construction. It is an investment in sleep that promises long-term returns in enhanced comfort and unwavering support.

Scored from the build: how this construction usually performs, compared with mattresses of a similar type and price.

Suitability

  • Back Sleepers 4/5
  • The amount of support offered from a mattress will vary depending on the firmness of the tension and the type of support layer used. Based on a person of average build.
  • Side Sleepers 5/5
  • If you sleep on your side you typically need a supportive tension that is not too firm, nor too soft. This is because your hips and shoulders need adequate sinkage.
  • Stomach Sleepers 4/5
  • Stomach sleepers need a reasonable amount of tension in the base support layer to adequately offer body contouring and help prevent aches and pains. Results will vary based on your build.

Performance

  • Breathability 4/5
  • Mattresses that feature breathable materials help promote airflow and keep you cool making for a more hygienic night's sleep.
  • Turning on mattress 5/5
  • Certain materials like memory foam can make it difficult to move about on the mattress while you toss and turn. Same too for pillow tops which can create a cloud like sensation which can make manoeuvrability challenging.
  • Stability 4/5
  • Depending on the type of support layer in place can have an impact on stability, edge to edge support and roll together prevention. Pocket springs of a firmer tension will have better stability than open coil soft tension, for example.

Ease of Use

  • Turning handles 5/5
  • Mattresses typically need to be rotated frequently and having turning handles can be massively beneficial, particularly in larger sizes which can become fairly heavy.

Odour

  • Initial Odour 4.5/5
  • Materials in mattresses, particularly memory foam and rolled bed-in-a-box mattresses can have an initial odour, this is typically short term and reduces considerably within 24 hours.
  • Long Standing Odour 5/5
  • Certain materials inside different mattresses can produce a small odour. Typically this is short term rather than long standing but there are minor exceptions.

Brand Rating

  • Overall Brand Rating 4.5/5
  • This is based on community driven customer reviews tied to product reviews and grouped together at a brand level to produce a score.

Love this mattress! Been sleeping on it for seven weeks and it's kept it's shape with regular turning. Seems to have resolved my sciatic problem in my back and my husband's shoulder issue. The mattress is supportive but very cushioned so incredibly comfortable. It doesn't get hot at night either, the natural fibres are so much better than the synthetic ones for keeping cool. Just a good nights sleep and no waking up with cricks, didn't realise how bad our old was until we got this!

I love my new mattress. My old mattress gave me aches and pains now I am a new woman. I would recommend this mattress to anyone, already told my daughter all about the mattress and your service. Also note I saved money buying from ourselves after looking around the bed shops.
