Why Our Sleep Experts Loved It

becky says

The Simba Hybrid 2500 is a great example of a hybrid mattress. No longer do you have to choose between a foam base or a spring base as the Hybrid features both – and in plentiful quantities.  This model combines the best of both worlds to create something innovative, comfortable and cool enough to keep you sleeping at night thanks to new and breathable layers that improve upon the existing Simba Original Mattress.

The mattress now consists of multiple layers of foam work alongside the high quality 2500 pocket springs to offer unparalleled support that will appeal to both back and side sleepers alike. Onto the comfort layer and you get the dependable and well-loved memory foam with charcoal infusion (to assist with breathability), this isn’t necessarily something we haven’t seen before, and while this time round it is being referred to as Simbatex® it is actually very similar to the foam offered in many Mlily mattresses.

Who is This Mattress For?

The Simba Hybrid 2500 is for anyone who wants a comfortable, long-lasting bed with a great bounce. This mattress will suit stomach and back sleepers, as well as side sleepers thanks to the hybrid design and its medium-firm tension. This hybrid model can also be a great choice for couples, since it can conform to the shape of each person’s body with no roll-together combined with no roll-off which allows for an uninterrupted night's sleep. If you want a high-quality mattress that will last for years, this could be the one for you.

The Good Stuff

The Simba Hybrid 2500 comes with a number of great features. The first of these is the design, which is a clever hybrid model. The top layer of memory foam historically performs well for pressure relief. The bottom layers offer enough body contouring to provide back and neck support for those looking for a necessary amount of back and neck pain relief. Combining these two materials in one mattress means that the mattress is durable, comfortable and consumer focussed. This hybrid model also comes with the charcoal infusion in the foam which works with the breathable pocket spring layer to ensure that you won’t get too hot while you’re sleeping. This is great for anyone who suffers from overheating while they sleep.

The Bad Stuff

As with all hybrid mattresses, the more layers you have the heavier it gets and the result of such a high quality mattress is that the Simba Hybrid 2500 is quite heavy and without handles to assist in rotation. This isn’t necessarily too much of an issue, but it does mean you lose out on one of the key benefits of the bed-in-a-box era around ease of movement surrounding setup and rotation. This hybrid model is also a bit on the pricey side, so it might not be the best choice for people who are on a budget.

The Simba Hybrid 2500 is a high-quality hybrid model that will provide you with years of restful sleep. This hybrid model is great for most sleepers thanks to its combination of materials that provide comfort, durability, and bounce. If you’re looking for a high-quality hybrid mattress that will last you for years, this is the one for you thanks to the included 10 year guarantee. Reviews are coming in thick and fast and there are now enough long term reviews to help back up your decision and allow you to purchase in confidence regardless of how you sleep. Finally, the Simba Hybrid is sold through numerous retail channels but still retains its 60-night sleep trial meaning that if you are not satisfied with it, you can replace it and not be out of pocket financially.

How does it feel?

Firmness of The Simba Hybrid 2500 Pocket Mattress depends on bodyweight. Adjust your weight below to get an indication of how it may feel. Remember though that firmness is entirely subjective.

Reasons to Buy

Good quality at a fair price point that might be a bit over-budget for some, but still should appeal to a large segment.

Sleep trial might not be as good as Emma, but will be enough to determine whether or not you like it.

Plenty of reviews including long term ones for customers to gain confidence in the product.

Reasons to Avoid

Competition in the hybrid segment is growing and while the Simba performs well, the price point alienates those looking for something a bit more budget. At time of writing we have reviewed an Emma Essential Mattress that might suit this budget segment a little better.

Key Performance Indicators KPI question mark

Our Key Performance Indicators are produced using a combination of specification-heavy algoritmic data points and user reviews. For example, a firm pocket spring support layer is more breathable and offers better back support but may prove unsuitable for side sleepers, the reverse is true for a soft-medium tension reflex foam support layer. This is one of 100+ datapoints considered when generating the below ratings.

*Assuming average weight, suitability will vary dependant on body type, use the quiz above for a more tailored guide.
  • Back Sleepers
  • The amount of support offered from a mattress will vary depending on the firmness of the tension and the type of support layer used. Based on a person of average build.
  • Side Sleepers
  • If you sleep on your side you typically need a supportive tension that is not too firm, nor too soft. This is because your hips and shoulders need adequate sinkage.
  • Stomach Sleepers
  • Stomach sleepers need a reasonable amount of tension in the base support layer to adequately offer body contouring and help prevent aches and pains. Results will vary based on your build.

  • Breathability
  • Mattresses that feature breathable materials help promote airflow and keep you cool making for a more hygienic night's sleep.
  • Turning on mattress
  • Certain materials like memory foam can make it difficult to move about on the mattress while you toss and turn. Same too for pillow tops which can create a cloud like sensation which can make manoeuvrability challenging.
  • Stability
  • Depending on the type of support layer in place can have an impact on stability, edge to edge support and roll together prevention. Pocket springs of a firmer tension will have better stability than open coil soft tension, for example.

  • Initial Odour
  • Materials in mattresses, particularly memory foam and rolled bed-in-a-box mattresses can have an initial odour, this is typically short term and reduces considerably within 24 hours.
  • Long Standing Odour
  • Certain materials inside different mattresses can produce a small odour. Typically this is short term rather than long standing but there are minor exceptions.

Five innovative layers for perfect hybrid comfort

2500 Aerocoil springs for responsive support

These springs are patented and unique to Simba and offer a great degree of support combined with enhanced temperature control and management. The springs are finer in both composition and design which helps them react more closely with your body by compressing and releasing as you move around on the mattress.

Simbatex foam infused with graphite for temperature regulation

Graphite infusion has a benefit of promoting airflow which will help keep the traditionally hot characteristics of foam at bay, allowing you to get the best that foam has to offer, with non of the common pitfalls and downsides.

Soft breathable sleeping surface

Edge to edge Simba-Pure sleep surface

The supportive edge system is designed to prevent roll off while you sleep while also creating a safe and supportive edge that will avoid dipping and increase durability.

Free form any harmful pollutants or dyes

This makes it an ideal choice for people with allergies or sensitivities to such substances. The result of avoiding pollutants and dyes makes it a safer option for use in the home.

100% carbon neutral - offsetting the manufacturing process

100% recyclable so never goes to landfill

A product that is 100% recyclable is considered better for the environment and goes a long way to reducing your personal waste. Recyclable products and materials are able to be repackaged and remade into new products.

Hybrid design offers medium-firm support

Rolled for delivery - easier access to your home

Rolled mattresses are a great option for those with narrow hallways and staircases that would not easily accommodate a full sized traditional mattress. What's more, since they are rolled and tightly packed the shipping costs are lower as are the logistical warehousing costs. These reduced costs often allow the retailer and manufacturer to sell the equivalent rolled mattress at a lower price than a traditional mattress, saving you money and getting you better value.

Easy to care for - no need to flip

Single side mattresses have a few pros and cons compared to traditional double sided mattresses. The main positive is that you do not need to flip, meaning a hassle free low maintenance product. The easy care nature does reduce durability slightly since there is less surface area utilised as there is no secondary comfort layer on the reverse.

Depth: 25cm

Most experts recommend a minimum 10 inches, 4 inches on the top layer and 6 inches for the core so this size is an ideal balance of size and performance. Generally, the heavier the load the deeper the mattress should be.

10 Year Guarantee

A 10 year guarantee is a huge reflection of just how much trust the manufacturer and the retailer have in their product. for reference, mandatory requirements are for a 1 year guarantee.

Made in the UK

These are made and manufactured in the UK, meaning that they all meet the same exceptional quality and durability that we expect from genuine UK manufacturing.

Pocket springs

Pocket springs are like natures own springy piece of comfort, except they are not from nature. Alas, pocket springs are a very good part of a mattress and often found in the more premium models. Lower quality products will frequently use open coil spring setups, where pocket springs house each spring in a tiny pocket for additional stability and continued support. Pocket spring typically lasts longer than open coil due to this.

Memory Foam

memory foam is one of the most well known materials used in the upper layer of mattresses. Memory foam basically contours to your entire body with moulding properties. Designed by NASA, this material rebounds to your touch and feels like you are floating on a cloud. Memory foam does not necesserily mean soft either, you can still have firm mattresses for those that want them with a bit of memory foam.

Knitted Cover

It is common in the industry to have a knitted cover, these covers can come in a variety of patterns but are typically hard wearing and do not present problems for consumers.

Reinforced mattress edge

One of the most common complaints in the industry is against mattresses with a weak mattress edge. It can often result in the user feeling like they are going to fall off the side of the bed and bed avoided. This mattress has a reinforced edge, something that helps ensure that particular scenario is avoided when you get close to a mattress edge while sleeping.

This product is unlikely to cause any sort of allergic reaction. Ideal if you suffer from any sort of allergy problems

Pressure Relief

One of the big complaints when settling into a new mattress is that it does not feel as comfortable as they hoped, where this mattress shines is in the enhanced pressure relief that it offers. Each part of your body exerts different amounts of pressure against the mattress and through the use of springs and foams, these products are able to offer significant pressure relief as a result across the entire body.

Rolled up mattresses are ideal for anyone looking at trying to get a mattress up a tight staircase or in a car to bring home from the shops. Do not missunderstand just how troublesome getting a mattress up stairs can be. Heavy and cumbersome, sometimes a rolled up mattress that expands to the side of a full mattress anyway, may be the better option

Medium to Firm

Firmer than the average mattress, a medium to firm mattress is ideally suited to those that are looking for extra back support but still require and amount of comfort from their mattress. Ideally suited for a large range of the populus and becoming much more common, deviating away from the previous medium-for-everyone model.

25cm deep

A 25cm mattress is a good depth for a product of quality. Plenty of room for some good quality springs and enough space for a good top layer of comfort. This side of product should just about fit a standard sheet but do not be surprised if you find you do need to upgrade to a deeper fill sheet to fit over the mattress.

Handcrafted in the UK

Handcrafted in the UK means that the product is built here, by people being paid a fair and honest wage using certified and safe products of good quality and construction. UK manufacturing is some of th best in the world and all of that is reflected in this product

Fire Resistant

Fire resistant does not mean the product will never catch fire, rather, it will not go up in flames quite so quickly. Resistant to fire in the same way that I am resistant to kisses, sooner or later you end up giving in.

Approved by the National Bed Federation

The NBF is one of the most prestigious awarding federations in the industry, helped slightly by the fact that it is one of the only, however, it is still a great source of comfort knowing that this product holds approval by the team
