Why our sleep experts loved it
The Mattressonline Horizon Odyssey 800 is the only mattress you'll need. I got my hands on this one through Mattress Online and spent a bit of time pressing into the top layers and having a quick lie down, and straight away it felt like a classic pocket spring and memory foam combo. It has a 14.5cm pocket-spring core and two layers of foam, making it the perfect combination of comfort and support. Combine these features with an additional 2cm of memory foam toward the top of the product in the comfort layer and you've got yourself a fantastic little trio combination that will delight customers.
The new Horizon Odyssey is almost identical to previous iterations but with a few key differences. Namely, this product, despite being slightly thinner and lighter, does seem to have a better pocket spring support that reacts to each body movement well with sufficient contouring. When I shifted my weight from side to side I could feel the springs responding in smaller sections rather than the whole surface moving at once, which is what you want from pocket springs.
The cover is soft and durable but like most traditional mattresses that feature pocket springs, isn't removable for washing meaning a protector is recommended to keep things hygienic and long lasting. Running my hand across it, it felt smooth and fairly plush, but if you're the type that likes to chuck a cover in the wash, you won't be doing that here.
You can finally get the best of both worlds with this medium tension mattress that still has the added softness you crave. With a goldilocks tension that is soft to the touch and has enough sinkage to suit side sleepers, there's not too much to worry in choosing this type of firmness as this level of tension is regularly recommended as a 'one side fits all'. That said, if you're a lighter side sleeper (say under 70kg), the 'medium to firm' feel could still come across a bit pushy around the shoulder, especially with memory foam that takes a moment to let you in.
What's it like to lie on? This mattress is designed to provide you with maximum spinal support. It doesn't matter if you sleep on your back, stomach, or side; this mattress will provide the comfort and support that your body needs. You'll wake up feeling refreshed, energized, and ready for the day ahead of you.
On my back, my hips felt nicely held up by the pocket spring core and I didn't get that 'hammock' dip you sometimes find on softer memory beds. On my side, there was a decent bit of sink through the memory foam, but it took a few seconds to settle, so if you like a more instant plush feel you might find it a touch slow. Stomach sleeping felt supportive, but I'd be careful if you carry more weight around the middle because too much give in the comfort layers can tip your lower back out of line.
When it comes to a mattress, you want a balance of comfort and stability. This bed does a good job of providing both. It has plenty of support to ensure it won't sag in the middle and is enough to not be too bouncy for those who need a more stable surface. It also does a good job of absorbing movement. So, if you have pets or kids or just find your partner tosses and turns a lot, this is the bed for you. One thing I did notice when sitting on the edge was that it compresses more than a mattress with a dedicated edge support system, so if you perch on the side to put socks on, it's not the strongest edge I've tried.

Handcrafted in the UK with the finest memory foam, a knitted cover and a hand-tufted finish, the Horizon Odyssey 800 Pocket Memory Mattress offers medium to firm support for a perfect night's sleep. With a 24cm depth and 7.5cm layer of memory foam which moulds to your body shape and weight, this mattress is ideal for those who suffer with back pain or sleep better on a firmer mattress.
Worth saying, 7.5cm of memory foam is a fair whack, and in my experience that can sleep a bit warmer than you'd expect, especially if you're already a hot sleeper. Also, for the money I'd like to see a bit more practicality, things like proper turning handles or clearer care instructions for rotation, because this sort of build really benefits from being rotated regularly.
Enjoy your very own piece of heaven in the comfort of your own home with the Horizon Odyssey 800 Pocket Memory Mattress . The Odyssey is a medium mattress that will give you a deep, supportive sleep whilst providing a great night's rest and helping you wake up refreshed every morning. For me personally, it's a solid option if you want that classic memory foam hug with a steadier pocket spring base, but it's not the one I'd point every sleeper at, lighter side sleepers and anyone who hates heat build-up should think twice.
