Why our sleep experts loved it
The Sweet Dreams Rebecca 2000 Pocket Ortho Mattress is one of the most luxurious mattresses available, providing the ultimate in support and comfort. I got my hands on this one in-store and the first thing that hit me was the sheer depth of it, it looks and feels like a proper old-school, hotel-style mattress. This double-sided mattress has 2000 pocket springs to provide a sumptuous firmness that will keep your back healthy. When I pressed down with my palm you could feel the springs reacting in little pockets rather than the whole surface collapsing at once, which is what you want from a pocket sprung build. The cover is made of the finest damask which will look good in any bedroom, and running my hand across it, it felt smooth and tightly woven rather than that loose, bobbly fabric you sometimes get at this price. The deep depth makes it supremely comfortable for long periods of rest, but be aware it is a chunky mattress, so on a low frame it can sit quite tall and it is not the easiest thing to rotate without a second pair of hands.
A deep, luxurious mattress made in the UK. I spent a bit of time lying on it on my back and it held my hips up nicely, with that firmer ortho feel that keeps your spine feeling straight rather than hammocked. On my side though, I could feel a bit more pressure around the shoulder than I'd want, so if you're a lighter side sleeper this tension could come up too firm. The pocket springs provide exceptional support to your back when you sleep, and the damask cover is made to last. With a 2000-pocket spring count and an amazing 5 year warranty, this is one mattress you'll want to try, although at this sort of spec I'd personally like to see a longer warranty than 5 years as plenty of rivals push 8 to 10.
Sweet Dreams are a family-run company, who have been making mattresses in the UK for over 50 years. They make a range of mattresses, including pocket springs and latex, and offer more than just beds; they also sell a range of bedsides, headboards and divans.
For me personally, this one sits in the 'great if you like a firmer, supportive feel' bracket, it is comfy and well put together, but it is not the best shout if you want a softer, sink-in top or you are sensitive around the shoulders and hips.
