I got my hands on this one in-store at Bensons because I kept seeing it pop up in their bestsellers, and I wanted to see if it actually felt as solid as the reviews suggest. Despite being fairly new to the lineup, the bed frame has quickly become one of the most popular products sold, amassing an impressive 400+ reviews in a short space of time and achieving a respectable 4.7 out of 5.0 stars in that period.

Produced from solid ash, the frame has fantastic build quality that is heavy and durable, handling knocks and drops with ease and being of sufficient quality to withstand most things thrown at it. When I grabbed the foot end and gave it a proper wobble test, it felt planted, and the joints didn’t give me that ‘flatpack flex’ you sometimes get at this price. Running my hand along the ash, the finish felt smooth and consistent, but you can still feel the grain, which I like as it keeps it looking like real wood rather than something overly lacquered. Customers particularly enjoyed the lack of movement in the frame, resulting in no squeaks and a fully rested nights sleep.

Price point is keen too, coming in at a fairly low price point for a solid wood option and probably another key indicator for why it sells as well as it does. That said, for the money I would have liked proper built-in handles or at least something to make moving it for hoovering a bit less of a faff, because it is genuinely weighty. Also worth saying, that lighter ash colour is great if you want to brighten a room, but it will show scuffs and marks more than a darker stain, especially around the foot end if you’re forever walking past it.

Crafted from solid ash and ash veneer, Hip Hop is a beautifully designed, versatile bed frame that looks as good as it feels to sleep on. The arched sprung slats provide comfort and ventilation whilst the stylish metal legs offer a contemporary take on a classic design.

On the slats, I pressed down through the middle and you can feel that bit of spring back, which is nice for comfort, but it does mean the feel of your mattress can soften slightly compared to a rigid base. If you’re already on a softer mattress, or you like a really firm, dead-flat feel, that’s something to keep in mind. The metal legs look smart, but they’re also the bit you’ll notice first with a toe in the dark, so if your bedroom is tight on space, it’s not the most forgiving design.

For me personally, this sits in the good bracket because it feels properly sturdy for the price and it looks the part in real life, not just in the photos. Just go into it knowing it’s a heavy frame to shift about, and the sprung slats will add a touch of give that not everyone wants.

I'm delighted with my new Hip Hop single bed. This unfussy design made out of ash looks great, and the tongued joint detailing in the rounded corners of the head and foot boards is a nice touch. Its sturdy construction and sprung slats make it very comfortable without any creaks during the night. On a practical note, there is good clearance at the slides for sliding storage boxes underneath if required (the overhang of my double duvet keeps these out of sight). Although concerned about assembling it on my own, I needn't have worried - it was possible with temporary supports for the long side pieces (I used wastepaper baskets!) - but if you're limited for space I'd recommend assembling the slat frame first and putting it aside until needed. My only slight disappointment was finding that a few of the slats had not been finished properly and had a rough surface, but as these are hidden it's no big deal.

I am very happy with my selection of the wooden Hip Hop bed. It stood out as a clean and classy and contemporary option and different from all the divan type beds. Because of the pale colour wood and non-shiny surface and grain finish it has a Scandinavian feel. Also seems very well made and designed with the rounded corners. all is very high quality, I got a small double which works well for the space and was great value. It is exactly the sort of bed I wanted to find. The attention to detail of the packaging and parts was very impressive and well thought through, and it was easy enough to assemble. I would definitely recommend for people looking for a good value stylish wood option. Nothing to dislike.

The bed is of good quality and comfort. The assembly instructions wre easy to follow apart from how to put the sprung slats in. You need to attach an end plastic piece to the slat then attach it to the frame. Follow this with the centre plastic but do not put it into the just yet. Take the other slat attach an end piece theput the other end into the centre section. Fix the end piece into the frame then ush and attach the centre piece into the frame. This is not made clear in the instructions, if you attach the centre plastic before putting in both slats into it you will have to free up the metal frame to get the slats in. I would have rated this 5 stars but for the installation of the slats

The bed itself is really nice and great quality. It feels sturdy and I love the curves which is why I've given it 5 stars. The bed was delivered when it should have been and the guys delivering were really friendly. The only thing that let it down was it was missing the M8 bolts. I'm too impatient to call and wait for them to send some out so I went to the hardware shop and bought my own. For the price you're paying, those small details need improving. I had taken my bed down myself already in preparation so I would have had nowhere to sleep if I didn't buy my own bolts. But again, the bed is great and the mattress I bought with it is the most comfortable mattress I have had.

My son wanted his first ever double bed and I looked for quite some time for the one that suited his bedroom and the design that worked for a pre teenager . I had a quick search online and also popped to store and they had this bed in the single version and it felt strong, looked good and felt good value for money so I ordered online. Delivery didn't take long which was fantastic and communication via email was good regarding delivery date and time. When delivered the two men carried it to where I needed and were so friendly. These were for my grandaughters they absolutely love them, my daughter put them together and found it quite easy, she bought 2 from Amother company off the internet, unfortunately they broke within 2 weeks. Thats when I insisted on a visit to Bensons before an internet purchase, the person in the Becton store was fantasticthe Hip Hop bed frames are solid at either end they look like they are moulded so there are no joints to loosen and fall apart, the supports for the mattress bow up and push into pre drilled holes far better than the ones you screw either side, this makes them extremely strong and easy to assemble ..well worth the money..

The bed frame was very well packed and protected with lashings of sellotape. A pair of scissors was essential. The assembly instructions were clear and assembly was largely straight forward using Allen keys. The only difficulty arose when fitting the sprung wooden slats that did not all click into place. However, spares were provided, enough to fit easily. It would also have been useful to know in advance that there are support legs under the middle of bed which restrict storage underneath the bed. The end result was an sturdy construction with no give when you move on the bed. Very comfortable with our sprung mattress

I have had this bed frame for about a year. Parts arrived damaged, but were replaced. It has a metal frame, with flimsy wooden slats. 4 of my slats arrived damaged (splintered and cracked) but were replaced. The long wooden sections were also damage on corners but were also replaced. I noticed further cosmetic damage (minor splintering around joins) which I didn't bother to phone get replaced as it wasn't visible and had already built and started sleeping in the bed. Otherwise looks great and I really like it. Hasn't collapsed yet, and although the slats seem flimsy, they are holding up pretty well.

A good looking sturdy bed, although not as easy to assemble as some reviewers would have you believe. This was primarily due to the plastic pieces designed to attach the slats to the metal frame popping out all the time we were trying to install the sprung slats. Eventually we just had to go round at the end and push everything in and I'm still not sure how secure it all is. Time will tell, but surely the pegs on the plastic pieces could be sturdier and more secure. I would expect that once it was pushed in, it should stay in. This would make installation easier and the whole unit more secure.

I'd eyed up this bed for a while (nearly two years infact due to two unexpected redundancies ) and I was finally able to buy it a couple of months ago.. i'm so happy with it - and the mattress! It looks great, is a good size and is super comfy. I cannot fault the service (both in-store and the delivery guys) it was brilliant - friendly, helpful, polite. I paid a little more to have the bed assembled which was done really quickly and very well, as well as for my old bed and mattress to be removed. Highly recommend every aspect of the service! We like the overall look of the bed frame. The smooth corners help to avoid any potential knocks to shins and legs. The frame also allows for an easy mattress turn as the slats and low end frame allow the mattress to glide whilst turning. The frame height is higher than our previous frame and this along with a new 300mm deep mattress is raising the overall bed height above a natural height for us and leads to having to 'climb' into the bed. Even if we were to shorten the legs the support poles are metal and would not work at a lower height.

This is our second purchase of the Hip Hop bed. We were pleased with our first one, which we have had for about 16 years in constant use. When we needed a new double guest bed we didn't hesitate to get another. It is well made and looks good, it's also good value for money. It's made from real wood - Ash, which also tones very well with Oak bedroom furniture. The staff in the store were very pleasant and efficient as were the two delivery men. We would recommend this to any of our friends who need a new bed frame at a good price.

Lovely solid bed. I bought this for my daughter as her first big bed, loved the rounded edges so she can't hurt herself on a sharp corner. Plus it's not too high off the ground that it's not a big drop if she falls out, which she has managed to do already. Easy and straight forward to put together. The only negative is the metal frame the bed slats are attached to then isn't fixed to the bed, so it does slide around. Once the mattress is on it doesn't tend to move, but may need some screwing down later on.

This is the second time I've bought this bed frame, the first one lasted me 13 years before it started to look tired. Because of how good that bed was; The style, how hard wearing it was and the overall look - I bought the exact same bed again but in White this time, not beech - It's fantastic and will last me another 13 years! The bed is pretty much the same as it was those years ago, except for a few modern changes. I 100% recommend this bed frame to anyone, it's solid and will stand the test of time.

Lovely. Bed good value for money did not take much building it was about one hour and I am a 72 year old lady.Instructions. After downsizing and moving home I only had a 3' single bed to use for over 12 mth. Not really enough space for full size double so this 4' was better to give me a bit more room to move about. Delivery team put it together very quickly. A good bed. I got an "open" frame bed because of the clearance height but it turned out that there are 2 metal legs under the central part of frame which will seriously effect what can be stored underneath. Otherwise no problem with the bed.

Very good and reasonably priced bed bought with the two side cabinets. Easy to put together with a central support to strengthen the lightweight slats. My only criticism which has not proved a real problem is that the headboard has quite a sharp corner which could catch the back of your head if sitting up a little. Not a problem for us as we have tri-pillows but if those edges could be rounded then the bed would be perfect. Easy to clean under it. I would recommend this product.

Looks great. It is superbly made, well constructed and will last forever if treated kindly. I am expecting visitors over the Easter period who will be using this new hip hop wooden bed frame. I can get their opinion by the end of the stay with me. The only downside I have to report is ~ it is approximately 3~4 inches too long for the room it is situated in. Our recent bed and mattress purchase from Bensons for Beds is terrific. The beautiful Ash bed frame and Eve Wunderflip Ultimate mattress has given us a wonderful sleep experience. Assembling the frame was simple following the easy-read instructions and the only tool not supplied was a cross head screwdriver (which every home must have!) The only downside was the cat wouldn't sleep on the bed for a couple of days due to the very mild odour as the mattress expanded.

I'm so pleased with this small double hip hop bed in ash. I put it together from flat pack to finished product myself, and it's a lovely sturdy, good looking bed. The wood is heavy and solid, there is a metal frame around the base for clicking the wood slats in and legs underneath the centre which add to its strength. It is also high enough off the floor to allow for storage underneath which is essential in my tiny home! Very happy with this purchase..

This is a great addition to our son's room and the build quality is very good. The modern solid wood look has a great timeless design IMO. We imagine he will have many years' use - he loves it already! This will need 2 people to assemble, as the long lengths need holding while the other person tightens the corners. But in all it was about 20 minutes' work to assemble. We hope Bensons stock this going forwards as we need another in a few years time.

This is a really lovely bed. It's sturdy, easy to assemble and has nicely sprung slats which pop into place with little effort. The only slight challenge is for anyone who likes to sleep low down in their bed- there's a footboard which stands just above the mattress. However, as a long-term bed for a teenager it's brilliant. The 'grown up' style, sturdy construction and Scandi good looks make a piece of furniture that will last for years.

Excellent quality white wood bed frame. Just what I had been looking for, but told by some retailers that the white wood look was impractical and marked badly. Rubbish this bed looks fabulous, with clean fresh lines that match the door and skirting boards and is set off against the blue wallpaper. Excellent communication from sales and delivery. Although it says it's a 2 person job to put together, this 73 year lady managed on her own!

Love the bed unfortunately the mattress I bought to go with it is over 4 inches shorter than the frame. I phoned the store to tell them about it and was told it should be to allow for duvet to be tucked in, I would need a really big duvet to fill this gap so I don't know if the bed frame is longer than most or if the mattress is shorter than most but if this had been explained when I bought them I wouldn't have made the purchase.

This seems a very good purchase, it looks very smart in the room. It is for a guest bed so has not been tried out yet. I had to assemble it, and found it quite difficult to push the little plastic lugs holding the slats into place. In the end I used my trusty rubber mallet but had to hit them quite hard. Luckily none broke, although they do include spares. Nothing was missing from the kit and it arrived in good condition.

The frame itself is sturdy and nicely made, my only recommendation to buyers is to be aware of the metal support section being able to shift. This isn't not an issue for most mattresses, however if you were to put a light mattress on this and plan to shift around alot in bed- the metal frame might move. But the likelihood is this won't happen! I fully recommend this frame and have had no issues with it since purchase.

I got this for my guest room. It looks great, was surprisingly easy to assemble - though it does take 2 people to do so. The headboard is just the right height for sitting bed with a good book, or if you like to watch TV in a bedroom. No creaking when you turn over and plenty of storage space, if you need it under the bed. I stash my treadmill under it, anything less then 9 inches high will just slide straight under..

No instructions, luckily we ordered two beds so we followed the instructions of the different, other bed. Also ordered assembly but turned out this isn't done, luckily again, we had the tools and brains to do it and we did receive the refund for the assembly that was paid for. Not quiet as strong as it first appears, the main part of the frame isn't solid wood, it's more like mdf. But the head and foot board are solid and beautiful. Overalls good value at the price I paid (on sale at around 250) and i would recommend to anyone. Like I said previously not as strong as it looks at first but strong enough for two large adults and 2 large cats to sleep comfortably. I bought the double.

A clean modern looking frame that made choosing bedding options much more versatile. Assembly was overall very easy, a couple of the bolts were a challenge to maneouvre into the pre-drilled holes, but the frame remained secure overall. The end posts are lovely with proper dove joints and rounded edges or good work. It's a nice frame for the money. The only drawback to this frame was that the support frame and slats seemed to end short. Mine could use and extra rows of slats at the end to fully support the matress properly. I've had to modify the metal fram in order to put in some additional support there. For reference I have a king size.

Very impressed with bedframe. I'm a fussy buyer and the sales team was able to reassure my purchase was a good product. Delivery was as stated. I managed to assemble the bedframe easily. Once assembled it is very sturdy and looks attractive. I bought a large hotel mattress which fits well. It is a well designed bedframe. Purchased about 6/8 weeks ago. The bed frame arrived on time and was carried into our mum's bedroom with care by the 2 delivery personnel. It was very well packed. Reasonable to put together but a few of the pieces were very difficult to bolt together. This was due to the drilled out spaces being too shallow and so there was no turning space when using the allen key provided. We have purchased a double and single frame now.

Bought this as a new guest bedframe and, so far, it has worked really well. The smaller size has meant it sits nicely in the room with space to be able to walk around it. It was easy to construct. Looks really good and is stable - no wobbles If there is one downside, it is that the supports struts under the bed means that storage is more difficult so you have to take them into consideration.

Simply made, but very sturdy, a nice solid bed frame and stylish too. It was well packed in the boxes and loads of polythene and polystyrene but watch you don't throw out any of the fixings, that would be easily missed. Took about an hour max to build but my Husband was particular. Don't be put off if you think it's cheaper in price compared to other big bed makes, this one is a keeper

Pretty simple to build unless you have large hands as I do, the tiny spanner and Alan key were a joke so glad I have my own extensive took kit, the side bars are veneered MDF and if I'd known this I wouldn't have purchased it, I dare not tighten thd nuts too much in case it splits, also the metal frame needs screwing to the base as it slides around. Looks good but I doubt it will last.

This is great value for money. Great structure, solid. Has 2 legs in the middle underneath. Spring based slats ( not individual), reinforced wooden length bits, not just flimsy mdf. It doesn't have big bits sticking out. It is sleek if your worried about room it is true to size.no sharp corners, great for a smaller' persons bed or guest room bed. A true small double bed.

I love this bed, it's stylish, well constructed and along with the new mattress and pillow, I'm sleeping better than I have done for ages. Unfortunately, when I tried to send a photo, it came up with 'an error occured '. Same thing happened when I tried to access care of mattress instructions. We are very pleased with our bed, the ash wood matches our existing furniture nicely. Our bedroom is quite small, so a frame bed makes the room look less crowded than a divan and we intend to buy storage boxes on wheels that can go right under the bed out of view. The best nights sleep I've had in years. I ordered a Medium hardness because I wasn't too sure what would suit me and it was a drastic change from my old mattress for the better. It turned out to be a lot firmer than I think I would have chose if I had tried all 3, but it turns out to be the best decision I've made. Slept like a log every night since.

This bedframe was so easy to put together by one person, the frame is very strong and sturdy. The bed is higher than I remembered when I purchased but that's not a downer on this as this makes for more storage space underneath. Absolutely brilliant quality! Very shocked at just how good this bed is! We were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to put together! Bought this bed a few months back. Love the look of it and it has a solid frame. Had a small issue with it, called Bensons, answered in a few seconds and received advice on what to do within half an hour. We bought two single beds for a small bedroom and they fit perfectly. The quality is excellent and they were reasonably easy for one person to erect on their own. Really easy to follow when putting together, would probably advise if you have a small space to make the metal frame first and prop it up before making the wooden frame as we found we had to make the frame within the wooden bed frame as we had no other available floor space big enough. Bed looks great and very pleased with the result.

Was told that home assembly would be minimal and the delivery men said that unpacking would take longer than putting it together. I have arthritis in my hands, unpacking was difficult but the 'minimal' home assembly was a nightmare and took me the best part of a day. I literally made my bed! However, the finished product looks good.

Fairly easy to put together and now it's up it looks great. Feels sturdy no squeaks which I was worried about. We chose this bed for my teenage son- we wanted storage space underneath and we aren't disappointed there either. His cricket bags fits underneath. All in all very happy as the bed was reasonably priced and looks great.

lovely looking bed, not too tricky to construct EXCEPT the instructions are in the wrong order unless your bedroom is enormous! Would be much better to construct the inner frame and slats first (put against wall) then make the frame, if you follow the instructions and make the frame first, you have no-where to make the inner frame!

The bed it's self is of excellent quality and was very easy to put together, you potentially could do it on your own but easier if you have someone to help. Having built many similar type products for display purposes with another retailer I was very impressed with the quality and ease of construction. All Fine art from one of the slats having a split in it. Emailed the store who emailed the manufacturer, after nearly 3 weeks replacement not received, contacted the store again who then chased Manufacturer who said they hadn't received or had missed the first request. I got this bed frame to replace one which was too bulky for our bedroom. It is still a standard double size. It looks great and is very sturdy. We replaced a hop hop bed frame. Like for like. The last one was about 12 years old and would have probably lasted longer had it not had to be dismantled and re- built 9 years ago. A good solid structure and a very good height for me, with joint problems. A great price and a good looking piece of furniture.

Super simple, easy on the eyes, suits any room. Very easy to assemble if you take time to carefully read the instructions. Only complaint would be it does creak after a couple of days , it's wise to check and re tighten the frame fixings ( which I've had to do twice now and hoping it settles down) but overall it's good value for the price paid.

Good bed, solid easy to assemble, no rocking or loose feeling components, works well with our eve mattress but should probably have a slightly thinner mattress, and with the eve the mattress sits higher than the foot board, but I'm tall so it suits me fine, all in all, great value. Good bed !

Good solid bed. I would have preferred instructions with words and pictures, not just pictures, but with my daughter we managed to put it together. I fully recommend. It replaced a pine bed I had had for about 12 years so was happy to have another wooden bed. I like the space underneath too.

This bed is really sturdy, and relatively easy to build. It took us about 2 hours all in. It's higher than I expected it to be, but it looks really stylish in the space. If I could recommend paper tape as opposed to plastic tape for all the packaging to make more of it recyclable?
