Uniting elements of style, practicality, and comfort, the Corrigan Buttoned Ottoman Bed Frame adds a touch of sophistication to any bedroom. It's indeed a viable option for those seeking to maximise their bedroom's storage potential without compromising on style. We've looked closely at its design, construction, suitability, customer opinions, and drawing on our personal experience to present you with an unbiased thorough review. Here's what you need to know about this much-touted piece of bedroom furniture from Bensons for Beds.
Design and Features
The Corrigan Buttoned Ottoman Bed Frame is a masterstroke in the combination of aesthetics and functionality. It sports a luxuriously buttoned headboard that, while nostalgic of times past, adds a certain allure to your bedroom, though the design will look outmoded to plenty of people. Complementing the headboard is a substantially built wooden storage base that not only adds to the bed frame's longevity but also offers an intelligent space-maximising solution in the form of an Ottoman storage unit.
This design of the Ottoman cleverly creates space for your essential items in an otherwise unused space underneath your bed, but do bear in mind that the access to this storage container can be slightly awkward. Adding more versatility to the bed frame, Bensons for Beds offer it in five different woven and chenille fabric options. Though on a personal note, these options could use a little more pizzazz to cater to a wider variety of decorative tastes.
The bed frame also features a Smart Slats sprung slatted base, a 5-zoned slat system that offers tailored support for your body precisely where it's needed. However, we found that this doesn't noticeably enhance comfort. You can lend your bedroom a more harmonious look with optional matching furniture, including a bedside cabinet and a chest of drawers. But mind you, these extras do seem to inflate the overall cost.
Construction
No superficial design features could overshadow the importance of a bed frame's construction, and the Corrigan Buttoned Ottoman Bed Frame doesn't disappoint. It's built with a durable wooden storage base creating a reliable structure that promises longevity, though a meagre 5-year guarantee doesn't exactly inspire unshakeable confidence in its durability.
Suitability
Determining the suitability of a bed frame boils down to your individual needs, taste, and the constraints of your living space. If you have a knack for traditional aesthetics, the Corrigan Buttoned Ottoman Bed Frame, with its buttoned headboard, may tickle your fancy, notwithstanding that some might view the design as passé. For folks desiring to make the most out of their bedroom's space, the Ottoman storage offers an excellent solution, albeit the access isn't the most convenient.
In terms of sleeping comfort, those who prefer a firmer base might appreciate the bed frame; our in-store testing didn't indicate a noticeable leap in comfort with the Smart Slats sprung slatted base. If you're working on a budget, consider that the optional matching furniture might add to the overall expenditure.
What Customers Thought
Noise is the owner complaint to know about. One owner wrote that "after couple of weeks the bed started to make noise", and re-tightening the screws didn't help. The same owner added that "it looks good and feels sturdy otherwise." Our scepticism about the limited fabric options and the relative awkwardness when accessing the Ottoman storage space still stands.
The Verdict
Having scrutinised the Corrigan Buttoned Ottoman Bed Frame from multiple angles including user feedback and firsthand in-store testing, the bed frame is a credible blend of elegance and functionality. It especially shines for those endeared to classic aesthetics while looking to maximise their bedroom's storage potential. However, the variety in fabric options is rather wanting, the Ottoman storage access can be inconvenient, and the optional matching furniture may unnecessarily inflate the total cost.
As for comfort, the jury is still out on whether the Smart Slats sprung slatted base brings a noticeable improvement. Given its significant price tag, combined with some reservations about the bed frame's durability underlined by a modest 5-year guarantee, customers may want to carefully ponder whether the Corrigan Buttoned Ottoman Bed Frame offers them the best value for their investment.
A keen look at a wide variety of mattress options will improve your experience with this bed frame. While this review provides an in-depth understanding of the product, we highly encourage potential customers to visit the store for a firsthand experience to make a more informed choice.
