Looking for an immersive movie or chilling experience right in the comfort of your own bedroom? The Alexis Sleepmotion Adjustable LG TV Bed Frame might just take your fancy. This isn't just a bed; it's a complete entertainment and relaxation unit neatly tucked into a genuinely clever furniture piece. During my visit to the store, I had a chance to evaluate this bed frame and here's what I truly think about it.
Design and Features
The overall design of the Alexis Sleepmotion Adjustable LG TV Bed Frame is nothing short of a statement. It has an attractive curved fluted headboard that is tastefully covered in soft-touch woven fabric, lending a luxurious look and feel.
The inclusion of a LG 43" Smart 4K TV as a standard feature is magnificent, promising the experience of cinema-like nights without stepping out of your bed. For those of us who like to cosy up with a good movie or two, this is a splendid offering.
But it doesn't stop there. The bed frame features integrated dimmable LED lighting with independent bedside controls, adding a subtle touch of sophistication to your bedroom. It also has an integrated 2.1 sound system for that immersive audio experience, and two USB-A and USB-C charging ports for added convenience.
However, one thing that did stand out to me is the inflated pricing associated with the OLED variant of the Smart TV. I must say, for such a price jump, you could possibly buy a better TV and mount it yourself.
Construction
The Alexis frame has quality and the construction and finish are precisely why. Everything from the soft-touch woven fabric to the built-in dimmable mood lighting speaks of the attention to detail and the effort put into its manufacture.
What particularly caught my eye was the Sleepmotion system. This bed frame offers the option of three adjustable Sleepmotion bases - 200i, 400i, and 200 u&i. These offer a mix of support, relaxation, and technologically advanced features like Zero Gravity technology and massage units, depending on the model you choose. However, it must be noted that for the king size 200 u&i, you'll need two small single mattresses at 200cm in length. This is something to keep in mind before committing to the purchase.
Suitability
Now let's discuss who this bed frame is ideal for. If you're someone who relishes unwinding in front of the TV after a long day, or you value additional relaxation features like the Zero Gravity technology and massage units, then this bed frame could potentially fit the bill.
However, the value proposition might not be as appealing for every customer. The high price tag, paired with a substantial lead time, might deter those who are looking for more budget-friendly alternatives or quicker delivery times. And not to mention, the OLED variant certainly feels disproportionately more expensive.
What Customers thought
Owners are happy with it. It's the adjustable base they keep coming back to. One wrote that "The fact that you can position the mattress to your liking is great", and another found the moving frame "so much easier that propping pillows under my legs at night" and added that "the massage feature is great". Another owner said "The adjustable function helps with my sleep and helps me enjoy it when I want to watch tv or read in bed".
The TV gets a mention as "a great bonus which also makes it tempting to stay in it longer". The only gripe is a small one: an owner was "still waiting for a replacement remote for the TV lift function" because the battery cover wouldn't go back on.
The Verdict
After closely examining the Alexis Sleepmotion Adjustable LG TV Bed Frame in-store, I have mixed feelings. It is undoubtedly an clever and luxurious product, offering features that make it stand out in the market. The sleep and entertainment solution looks tempting with its robust construction, well-thought-out design, and integrated advanced tech solutions.
However, there are certain aspects where this bed frame could use some reflection. The higher-than-average price tag, particularly for the OLED model, may be challenging to justify for many customers. If value for money is your top priority, you may want to consider more economical alternatives. The long lead time raises concerns about the convenience and satisfaction of customers eager to enjoy their new TV bed frame.
In a nutshell, the Alexis Sleepmotion Adjustable LG TV Bed Frame has the potential to reset the paradigm for what we expect from a bed. But is it for everyone? Probably not. However, for those willing to splurge for the novelty, comfort and luxury it offers, it could well be a worthy investment.
