Greetings to all the mattress and bedding enthusiasts out there! Today, I'm delighted to share my in-store experience testing the Delaware Ergomotion Adjustable Upholstered Sleigh Bed Frame - a mix of classic design and modern innovation. I've spent a considerable amount of time exploring, assessing, and evaluating this product to bring to you an unbiased, authentic and thorough review of this bed frame. Just to make it clear, I'm bringing the in-person trial experience from the store, which, admittedly, doesn't replace a good few nights of sleep on it, but I've made sure to scrutinise every detail and aspect of this bed frame thoroughly.
Design and Features
With its classic sleigh shape, scrolled headboard, and matching foot end design, the Delaware Ergomotion Adjustable Upholstered Sleigh Bed Frame has an abundance of classic charm that can add a twist of elegance to any bedroom. Encased in the choice of soft wool-touch fabric or a more modern, sophisticated brown leather-look PU, the curved silhouette of this bed frame can blend seamlessly with a multitude of interior styles.
The bed frame also has smart features such as USB-C and USB-A charging points, catering to an increasingly digital world. Now, let's talk about the standout feature, the Ergomotion bases - an embodiment of convenience, luxury and modern innovation. These bases have been closely designed to augment your comfort by facilitating adjustability and offering an array of features, including built-in massage units, Zero Gravity mode, and sleep tracking capabilities. You can select from the Ergomotion Elite base or the Ergomotion Smart base depending upon your needs.
The choice of just two colours, grey wool or brown leather-look, could limit customisation for some users who love to play around with setting their decor tone with different coloured frames. The atmospheric under-bed light taps into the need for a cosy and calming environment but might not be for everyone.
Construction
The Delaware Ergomotion Adjustable Upholstered Sleigh Bed Frame is solidly built and raised on oaky wood-finish legs. A heavy candidate, weighing 129.5 kg, this bed frame is sturdy and promises a considerable degree of stability. However, keep in mind that its weight adds bulkiness and might make moving it around a bit of a struggle.
The construction of this bed frame requires two-person assembly, which can be quite cumbersome for some. Its massive size, with a length of 252 cm, can also pose challenges if you're short on space in your room. Lastly, while it does offer a thorough range of clever sleep-improving features, it comes without a mattress, which needs to be purchased separately.
Suitability
While assessing the suitability of this bed frame, it's essential to factor in its significant size and weight. Living spaces vary widely, and as such, this frame may not be the best fit for more compact, smaller bedrooms. It's also worth considering the utility of the adjustable Ergomotion bases. These advanced features need to be weighed in the balance of personal preference and actual sleeping habits. The massage function will be either an absolute necessity (if you have muscular issues) or an indulgent luxury, depending on the user.
Let's remember the overall cost. Retailing at £1,798, the Delaware Ergomotion Adjustable Upholstered Sleigh Bed Frame might seem overpriced to those on a budget, particularly considering you'd still need to purchase a mattress separately to complete the setup.
What the Dreams staff review said
A Dreams staff reviewer called it a "timeless yet stylish bedframe" and picked out the tall, scrolled headboard and foot end, which they said "adds a touch of elegance to any bedroom". The same review runs through the wool-look and brown leather-look finishes and the choice of Ergomotion Elite or Smart base. It's written by Dreams staff, so treat it like the product description rather than an owner's verdict.
The Verdict
There's no denying that the Delaware Ergomotion Adjustable Upholstered Sleigh Bed Frame brings to the table an amalgamation of classic design and modern innovation. While its timeless design and generous array of advanced features capture attention, its substantial size, weight, and assembly requirements may pose challenges for some users.
The price tag may seem steep, especially since a mattress needs to be bought separately. However, for those who can afford this investment and make the most use of the smart features, this bed frame might indeed be a valuable asset.
To sum up, Delaware Ergomotion Adjustable Upholstered Sleigh Bed Frame is a fantastic asset that comes with a confidence-inspiring 1-year guarantee, but it is an extravagant investment, especially for a product that claims to create a bespoke sleep experience.
