Hyde-And-Sleep

Still fairly new to the mattress-industry, the Hyde and Sleep brand was the first real attempt from Dreams to get into the popular and saturated bed in a box segment, going head to head with the likes of Simba, Nectar and Otty. The main selling point of the brand is that they are able to offer a market leading sleep solution at a cheaper price than equivalent models in the existing Dreams lineup thanks to reduced logistical issues and reduced delivery costs. Having won multiple industry awards, the Hyde and Sleep range frequently tops charts in comfort and support.

Flaxby

Flaxby mattresses are sold exclusively by the popular retailer, Dreams. The collection is a more up-market premium brand within the lineup and uses an impressive array of comfortable and soft materials in the upper layers of their mattresses to ensure a natural and comfortable sleeping surface. Flaxby are focussed toward ensuring a greener and fresher sleep that is more environmentally friendly. That’s why they utilise 100% recyclable spring systems and natural fibres to help safeguard the environment for future generations.

A feature unique to Flaxby includes their new all-seasons lineup which sees a two sided mattress which has different comfort layers on each side, giving a “warmer” side and a “cooler” side.

Hyde-And-Sleep Owner Satisfaction

Owner satisfaction within the lineup is good with thousands of reviews over the last few years against the multiple models available. The reviews make particular mention to the impressive levels of support given, with back pain and orthopaedic support being particularly important to customers. Others enjoyed the foam comfort layer and the softer upper with multiple comments from genuine customers who find them “Extremely comfortable. Has made a significant difference to the quality of sleep”.

Hyde-And-Sleep Supportiveness

When it comes to support, Hyde and Sleep have two different support structures, one in the hybrid variety which combines foam and micro springs, and another focussing on pure foam. The tension within these models tends to be firmer than what you get with other manufacturers, with firm to extra-firm being commonplace across the majority of the segment. Customers find the supportive nature of these models ideal for back pain relief with so many comments making mention of the fantastic back support offered.

Hyde-And-Sleep Durability

Durability and longevity are both areas that are key to good quality control. The guarantee offered on Hyde and Sleep mattresses comes in at a lower 1-year guarantee which is smaller than those of competing bed-in-a-box brands and is an area of concern for the brand. Fortunately long-term reviews suggest only minor quality control and settlement issues affecting a small number of customers which should give a reasonable amount of confidence for those that are set on a Hyde and Sleep.

Flaxby Owner Satisfaction

Flaxby mattresses are some of the better reviewed in the industry achieving impressive scores on a continual basis that generally outperform the competition. Owners are particularly overjoyed because Flaxby is offering the great comfort and support that we all love but introduce multiple new features that help provide an enhanced sleep experience. Customers particularly enjoyed the all-season range which gave people a deep sleep all year round that kept them cool in summer and warm in winter, the perfect combination.

Customers also enjoyed the natural cotton, wool & hemp fillings that come as standard on many in the lineup with particular attention being drawn to the fantastic 5 year guarantee on most models.

Flaxby Supportiveness

Flaxby mattresses have a great deal of supportiveness thanks to the Cortec™ and DNAir pocket spring systems on offer within the lineup. The Flaxby range is what we consider to be a traditional lineup with typical high quality manufacturing processes that result in luxurious and supportive mattresses. Pocket springs have generally remained unrivaled over the years and are my own personal favourite support layer when it comes to offering good tension for back and neck support. Many of the products on offer are available with multiple tension options which means you have a choice around how firm you would like the product to be. Depending on how you sleep (front, back, side) to how much you weigh are all determinations when choosing the right supportiveness.

Flaxby Durability

Flaxby mattresses will typically perform better in terms of true longevity than many other mattress suppliers due to their large investment in good quality pocket spring support layers combined with tried and tested comfort layers of wool and silk. The combination of these materials gives customers confidence but also the retailer, Dreams. This is evident in their backing of this product lineup with the impressive 5 year guarantee that ensures long standing support in the event of any manufacturing defects. The price point for Flaxby may often price certain people out of the market who are looking for something a little cheaper, however, when you consider the lifespan and the cost per night of sleep as a result, the Flaxby offers a fantastic opportunity for sleepers thanks to its durability and comfort.

It's been over 6 months since I bought this mattress, and it absolutely changed my life, literally. For my whole life my sleeping quality was very bad, I used to sleep no more than 5-6 hours, I was waking up during the night, I've had a bad back, and was waking up tired every day. I changed my diet, I had a consultation with my GP - nothing helped. I just got used to it, and I thought that's just the way I do, tough. After moving home I decided to buy a new mattress (the one I had before seemed to be good), and I got this one from dreams. The first week or 10 days were weird. I didn't know if maybe I picked the wrong one, or maybe it's faulty, I just couldn't find the right position to sleep etc. But it must of been just my body adjusting to it I guess, because after around a week till now.. OMG. It is insane, it is the best thing I have ever purchased in my life. Literally every day when I wake up, I just can't get over how much I love it. My partner is the same, it's just unbelievable how well we sleep now. I do not wake up in the middle of the night even once, when before I did even 5 times. The quality of my sleep now is absolutely fantastic, I can easily sleep 8-10 hours now, and every morning I feel energised and happy. As much as we all missing going on holiday because of the pandemic, a part of me now is worried that wherever I go now, I will have to sleep on different mattress than mine, and it makes me just tiny bit anxious. I have recommended it to everyone I know and I can recommend it to you all. The mattress is classed as very firm, but you sleep like on the cloud. It adjusts to your body perfectly. We wanted to buy the super king, but the frame we liked was king size, and we were worried it may be to small, but it's absolutely not, even if one person is heavier, then it does not affect the other one, you have your kind of cloud around you and you just perfectly sink in. This is the longest review I ever made, but I felt like I have to, like I owe that to Dreams - thank you. I have never slept better than now.

Having had a medium/firm mattress for the last god-knows-how-many years, and both of us developing bad backs from it, we decided to shop for a new one. After much consideration, we settled on this mattress and WHAT A DIFFERENCE.l! It's much firmer than we're used to, so it did take a few nights to get properly accustomed to it but despite the "very firm" rating, it's very comfortable. I'm normally a very light and broken sleeper, due to how much my partner flops around during the night, how much the bed shakes because of that, and how much of a bad back I develop during the night, and I'm normally up and awake by 5am in a moderate amount of pain, but last night I finally managed a full 7 hours sleep and my lower back pain is almost gone! The memory foam quickly adjusts to a new sleeping position, and it's the perfect amount of softness to cushion you, and firmness to support you. Don't be put off by it being "extra firm", it's nothing like sleeping on hardwood flooring! Both myself and my partner are really tall (6ft and 6ft5), and we have a lot of excess lockdown weight so if anyone's on the larger side, I can fully vouch for this mattress if you're worried about that being a problem. This mattress also stands firm with my partner constantly flopping around during the night - I've barely noticed it these last few nights! One last thing, would be to talk about the design. As a hybrid, we really liked the springs and foam combination. I know springs aren't supportive enough for a larger person, and foam by itself for me is way too soft, but this bed is an absolute dream! The springs are underneath the foam and they're VERY supportive, and the foam is the perfect amount of cushion. An all-round brilliantly supportive mattress and we're super pleased with our purchase, and the service we received!

I went into the Durham Dreams store to select a quality matress for my new built property. Once I told the store lady that my budget was around 700-1000 pounds for a matress, she took me to a section where they had the next generation memory foam mattresses. One matress was firm and the other one was very firm. I tried both and I felt that the firm matress was slightly soft to me. So I selected the very firm one. Mind you, I had been renting previously and all of the matresses that the landlords put in their houses were criminally bad and soft. My back would sink and hurt all the time and it was hard to get deep sleep. Unlike the terrible matresses that I had always slept in previously, these two memory foam matresses felt amazing. But I decided to go with the very firm one to counteract the horrors of sleeping in super soft matresses. The first two nights that I slept on my new very firm matress, I found it too stiff for my back. No surprise! I even thought that I made a wrong decision by picking the very firm option, when I should have selected the firm option. However, the company told me that you must try the matress for at least 30 days as your body adapts to the matress and viceversa. Indeed! Within 3-4 days I was sleeping like a KING! The matress no longer felt crazy firm. It just felt firm and insanely comfortable. Falling asleep became so much easier than ever before but the most amazing thing is that once you catch the deep sleep here, you are stuck in it. Before (when renting), I would wake up easily, and now I can constantly sleep deeply and feel very rested. To conclude, this matress has drastically improved my quality of life.

I spent a long time choosing a mattress, insecure about quality and durability of so many. Have had this Hyde and Sleep Extra Firm Hybrid mattress for two weeks and love it. No chemical odour. It is very firm and has only softened very slightly (Hyde and Sleep Hybrid mattresses are available in a range of firmness, I chose the firmest). Have partially prolapsed discs in my lower spine and this mattress is so comfortable and supportive that I genuinely love lying on it. Both my backache and sleep have improved. It terms of temperature regulation, I find it just right; it holds enough warmth for me to not get chilly, but not enough to overheat (but I am not an overly hot person). It would be nice if it had handles, which it doesn't. Also wish that it wasn't made of plastic, but most mattresses are. Would be good to write another review in a years time to see how the mattress wears, but so far, would say that this is an excellent mattress. I have never paid this much for a mattress before, but on consideration, although I think it a bit expensive, it is much better quality than other mattresses that I have had and I would buy it again. I purchased the Bed Cover Primary Insurance as well, which covers any damage or fault with the mattress for eight years. Dreams have said, that all parts of their mattresses are recyclable, either via them when purchasing a new bed from them, or via the local Council recycling scheme.

I am 37 and suffer with chronic pain conditions including a spinal injury, severe fibromyalgia throughout my body and arthritis in some parts. I knew I wanted a sprung mattress with memory foam, firm support and none of those uncomfortable buttons all over the top and had ordered 2 mattresses online that claimed to have the features I wanted but in real life they didn't do the job so I decided I needed to actually lie on a mattress before spending any money. The tester bed in Dreams Stafford gave a result which completely matched my own perceived requirements for comfort. This Hyde and Sleep Raspberry mattress was on the list of recommendations, within the price I deemed reasonable for my requirements given my disabilities and the inevitable extra time I have to spend in bed. After testing a few others I kept coming back to this one. I am delighted with my purchase, it took a few nights for my body to adjust, having slept on inadequate mattresses for over a year. My back stopped feeling tender in some places and the memory foam is noticeably quicker to return from the shape and weight of my body when I get out of bed. I love it, it is everything I had in my mind that I wanted, the additional guarantee and insurance offered in store was a no brainer. I can thoroughly recommend this mattress if you are looking for firm with no buttons, and especially if you are disabled due to pain in multiple regions of your body.

We purchased the Flaxby 14450 pillow top mattress from Dreams after trying out the range of Flaxby mattresses in store. We opted for the Superking size with the split medium/soft support and the zipped option (essentially two singles joined together). I prefer the medium support whereas my partner likes the softer feel. Bear in mind, these are heavy mattresses and having the split mattress option makes it far easier to rotate them, which you will need to do weekly for the first 3 months (then monthly thereafter). It has taken a long time for the mattress to fully bed in and feel comfortable to sleep on. If you're considering this mattress, be prepared for a full 6-8 weeks break in period to allow the materials to loosen up and conform to your body. When new, it felt very stiff with the sensation you're lying on top of the mattress, with not much give and with minimal support. My partner quickly got used to sleeping on her softer mattress, whereas with my medium feel mattress, I experienced lower back pain on and off for the first 4-5 weeks. The Dreams staff advised that the Flaxby mattresses do take a while to break in and conform to your body. Here's some tips that have worked well for us and are worth considering: Mattress support - this mattress really does deserve a quality bed base, preferably a pocket spring divan base. We initially used our old Superking bed frame with sprung slats. However, although the 14450 mattress is a deep mattress and should in theory work well on any bed base, we found that it did not gel that well with the sprung slats, as the mattress tended to sag slightly. We have now switched to a sprung divan base and it's made a big difference to the feel, comfort and support of the mattress. Pillows - we initially used our Tempur cloud pillows with the Flaxby but we have since switched to Levitex sleep posture pillows (we opted for the small size). This has made a world of difference - no more neck and back pain! Duvets - we've always liked having our own single duvets rather than sharing a larger duvet so we can better control our body temperatures. My partner uses a weighted duvet whereas I switched to a wool filled duvet. The Flaxby mattresses do offer better temperature control compared to our old Tempur mattress. It is still worth investing in a quality duvet to really get the best sleeping experience.

My last bed was a supersized king divan style base with an orthopaedic mattress which I had for the last 15 years and it was a bit too large for the flat I moved into a few years ago so thought it time to change over to a double. I have always wanted a chunky wooden framed bed with a nice soft mattress & finally decided to take the plunge and ordered a frame off the web in the same style as my other bedroom furniture and then started looking for a mattress that I liked and found this one Dreams which sounded just right. I can tell you after spending 15 years sleeping on what might as well have been a rock the new mattress is like sleeping on a cloud. The mattress gives me a tremendous amount of support, yet it has a nice soft finish to it that I just sink into when I get into bed at night. It is beautifully finished with handles on all four sides making it easy to rotate even though it is quite a heavy mattress. My only wish is that I had spotted the Moore Wooden chunky bedframe on the Dreams website before I had ordered the frame that I did because that looks a lot sturdier that the one I bought is. I do have one small problem though and that is that it isn’t only me that has fallen in love with the new mattress, so have the cats who spend the bulk of the day relaxing on it and get a bit disgruntled when it comes to bed time and I have to get into it but they soon find their way back onto it when they think I have fallen asleep. So it seems that it isn’t only me who now get a great night’s sleep on my new 6500 DNAir mattress! But prehaps I should have gone for the king size to accomopdate all of us.

I did the dreams exchange as the Tempur elite medium was far too firm as I have widespread arthritis and fibromyalgia. So glad I waited 7 weeks for the swap to this Harrison Spinks Flaxby 11150. Its all natural fibre fillings and sprung plus eco friendly with the added bonus of being handmade by British crafts people up in Yorkshire. The difference it has made is huge, now I sleep far better. Even though I opted for the soft double mattress it has 11150 springs in it so there is alot of support and it is not like a cheap flimsy soft mattress. It is more like a medium at first but is a wonderful mattress, I highly recommend it and yes its worth the money, even better at sales time. It has an odour at first, just open window and air mattress if poss, it soon fades, but at least the odour is natural. It is a dual season mattress, one side for autumn/winter the other for spring summer so thats a bonus as I can be a hot sleeper. It comes with a guarantee and clear instructions for rotating & turning for the first number of weeks especially (it has 8 handles for turning) , worth following as this mattress is top quality, you look after it and it will look after you for many years.Buy a good quality mattress protector as the mattress does have the dipping yarned buttons, wont interfere with your sleep though! I love it and so glad I did the swap as its for me i top quality, highly recommend this and a thankyou to the team at Dreams on Basford bank roundabout in Stoke On Trent.

Don’t buy a bed online! Two years ago we replaced our right year old bed with a Simba mattress (one of these online ones that comes vacuum packed). We both get hot at night and this memory foam didn’t help. It started to sag badly, I ended up under the chiro and I complained to Simba who replaced the mattress free of charge. New mattress started sagging with three months and I’m still suffering with a bad back under the chiro. As my back wasn’t improving the chiro suggested the mattress may not suit me and perhaps I needed something more supportive so in desperation (and really not wanting to spend money on another mattress so soon) we went to Dreams. Best thing we ever did. Back MASSIVELY better after just one night. Sales Manager Amy spent a lot of time going through our options. New bed creates less condensation in our room and we aren’t hot at night. Worth every penny, wish I’d done it sooner and I’ll never ever buy a bed online again. There maybe a X number of days you can try it (on Simba and Dreams) but the reality is very few of us will go to the effort of sending it back unless it’s really bad. You just live with it. Don’t make the same mistake I did. The bed is also British made with all natural fibres. No gels or foams. LOVE it!
