When I ran my hand over the cover, it felt nicely finished and properly premium, not scratchy. While the Winstons brand might be new, the people running it have collective experience spanning a full century and this is reflected in the impressive products on show, featuring patented 7 zoned pocket springs that are built to last. That said, if you prefer a really bouncy, 'on top' feel, pocket springs can feel a bit more muted than open coil.
Something that Winstons Beds are doing better is in creating a clear and complete guide that helps you understand exactly what you are getting. With other manufacturers you might get told about the materials within a mattress, but you’ll rarely know in what quantity. This is important because no two mattresses are the same but the specifications that make them up can appear as such. When I pressed down into the top layers, I could feel a bit of cushioning before the springs pushed back, which is what you'd hope for at this end of the market. Winstons showcases the exact GSM of each material used in the upper comfort layer (GSM is how mattress layers are measured) which makes it easier to understand exactly what you are getting. The flip side is that if you're not into specs, it can feel a bit info heavy.

The average mattress is replaced within 7 years and the typical guarantee is 1 year which goes somewhat to showing just how impressive the 30 year offering is. While Winstons mattresses are more expensive than some other manufacturers, the quality, longevity and durability of the products means that you’ll likely end up better off in the long run. I did notice the edge support isn't quite as firm as some hybrid rivals when you sit right on the side, so if you perch on the edge a lot it's worth bearing in mind.
