Why our sleep experts loved it
I viewed the Xavier Velvet-Finish Ottoman Bed Frame with Bedside Tables on a shop floor display. No home trial, no weeks of living with it. I opened the end-lift base, checked the drawers, and spent time looking at the finish under bright showroom lighting.
It is huge. The headboard is wide and the built-in bedside units make it wider again, so it asks for a generous room. In the right space it looks properly put-together, like a fitted installation rather than a loose collection of furniture.
Design cues and the “hotel” look
The curved headboard is the whole mood. Soft corners, a wide panel, and a shape that avoids sharp, boxy lines. The brand calls it hotel-inspired, and that rings true here because the bedside tables are integrated into the design instead of looking like afterthoughts pushed up against the frame.
The upholstery is a velvet-touch fabric with a smooth, plush feel. I saw it in grey. Choice looks limited, but grey is a safe bet for most bedrooms and it does suit the silhouette.
The bedside tables include drawers. They sit at a practical height next to the mattress area and the drawer fronts looked neat and consistent from unit to unit. I pressed and leaned into the headboard padding while standing at the display. It has enough give for casual sitting, but the long-haul comfort question needs real use at home.
Ottoman storage and base support
The storage section is an end-opening ottoman with 26 cm of internal storage. The compartment is deep enough to be worth having, especially for spare bedding or out-of-season clothes. It keeps the floor line clean too, which helps the “hotel” effect more than people expect.
An ottoman support safety bar is fitted to keep the bed safely raised while in use. Good. Large ottomans can feel heavy once a mattress is on, and a secure hold matters when you have your arms inside the storage area.
The base uses sprung wooden slats, intended to add flexibility for extra support. On a firmer mattress, that flex can be welcome. A very soft mattress on sprung slats can feel lively, so mattress choice will steer the final feel more than the frame itself.
Room suitability and practicalities
Foot-end clearance is required for the lift because it is end-opening. Combine that with the width added by the built-in bedside units and the Xavier becomes a poor match for tight rooms. In a larger master bedroom it makes immediate sense, especially for anyone trying to reduce the number of separate pieces of furniture.
Access on delivery day is worth a check. Frames with integrated furniture can mean bigger components, depending on how the retailer packs it. Measure hallways and stair turns as well as the bedroom footprint.
What a customer review lines up with
The customer feedback provided describes the Xavier as “a stunning hotel bed with a curved headboard” in a “luxurious plush grey fabric”. That matches the showroom impression: it looks more premium than many storage frames at similar money.
The same review praises the amount of storage plus the “matching bedside drawers and end-opening ottoman”. Again, fair. The storage capacity is the point, and the built-in tables make the bed feel deliberate rather than bulky for the sake of it.
Missing from that single review is long-term detail on drawer runners, hinge performance, or how the velvet-touch finish holds up to real life. Showroom pieces usually behave nicely. Durability is the one area I cannot verify from an in-store assessment alone.
My take, including the drawback that would stop some buyers
I like it. The Xavier has presence, the curved headboard softens its scale, and the storage is the sort you will actually use. The price struck me as good for what you get.
The lead time is the part I cannot excuse. Twelve weeks, as of writing, is disastrous for a bed frame. Even buyers who fall for the look may not tolerate that wait.
