The new TEMPUR® Linford Upholstered Electric Ottoman Bed Frame is a piece of deluxe home furnishing that enters the market with great audacity. With its substantial price tag, this bed frame certainly previews the high-end expectations associated with it. As a seasoned mattress reviewer who spent a good amount of time analysing and experiencing it in-store, I am here to provide an in-depth, impartial review to help inform your decision-making process. Make no mistake; this isn't your mainstream review, this is a one-on-one with the Linford.
Design and Features
Stepping into the showroom, the TEMPUR® Linford makes its presence felt with an undeniable luxury that tiptoes along the edges of opulence. The bed frame is crowned with a statement, winged headboard that sports a gentle, but noticeable curve. The soft-touch, textured upholstery has an allure, a muted sense of glam that's attractive yet understated. The available chic colour options flatter the design and present the possibility of fitting into any colour scheme of your bedroom.
The Linford ensured that my attention remained hooked long after the initial infatuation with the looks. Details like light oak wooden feet add earthy notes to the grandeur, grounding it without compromising the stylish appeal. One of my favourite design features that I believe deserves a special mention is the inbuilt USB-C and USB-A charging points on each side of the headboard. Now, this is a bed frame that looks stunning and cares about your drained-away midnight mobile power!
Construction
The TEMPUR® Linford bed frame is not just about looks, though. It's a clever combination of beauty and brains (read: smart features). The construction mainly focuses on offering convenience by providing Ottoman storage which is not something you see every day. Accessible with just a button push, the hidden underbed storage area reveals an internal storage light upon opening. This nifty feature gives the Linford ottoman bed a distinct edge over its competition, as per my in-store experience and testing.
As I proceeded with my inspection, the solid mattress base boards caught my attention. The robust construction promised exceptional support, assuring a firm foundation for your chosen mattress. However, it is also a warning worth taking: a base this solid will make your mattress feel firmer than you expect. My years in the industry inform me that this aspect can have a significant impact on comfort levels depending upon individual preferences.
Suitability
After gritty, hands-on testing and a decade worth of experience in the mattress industry, my understanding mandates me to say that the TEMPUR® Linford is undoubtedly an all-rounder. If you seek a balance of style, practicality, and comfort, the Linford might be your ideal match. It adds a chic, contemporary charm to your bedroom, fulfilling your storage needs and ensuring optimal support for your mattress all the while!
Nonetheless, the considerations of price and the firmness of the mattress base must not go unnoticed. Although the commanding price tag falls in sync with what the bed frame has to offer, it might not be every buyer's first choice considering budgetary constraints.
What Customers Thought
The electric lift and the light under the bed come up again and again in the reviews, thus validating my own experience with the product. One owner called the lift "easy to use and saves my back", and another wrote "Brilliant bright lights inside which are very helpful". The storage space gets a lot of mentions too, and more than one owner compares it to having another wardrobe under the bed. The USB ports and the sturdy build are the other things owners keep coming back to.
Assembly is the one gripe. One owner wrote that "it took closer to three hours" to build, and another advised: "Do choose the assembly option though as it’s quite complicated!"
The Verdict
At the end of my in-store assessment, the TEMPUR® Linford Upholstered Electric Ottoman Bed Frame left me impressed with its clever blend of elegance, comfort, and inventive features. The robust construction, coupled with practical details, offsets the potential negative dip due to its price and anticipated firmness. The reviews agree on the lift, the light and the storage. A few owners warn that building it takes a long time.
Steeped in quality and luxury, the Linford is a delightful addition to any modern bedroom setting, demonstrating an artful blend of form and function. However, the financial stretch and the resultant mattress firmness it brings along are aspects that you, as a buyer, must ponder upon. Taste, after all, is subjective!
Based on my in-store experience, I aim to provide a transparent and detailed account of the TEMPUR® Linford. In-store reviews, despite being thorough, lack the perspective gained from a prolonged trial at home. So, use this review as a guide, rather than something that governs your final choice.
