Why our sleep experts loved it
I got hands-on with the Sonic Smart Electric Ottoman TV bed in a showroom local and it is one of those unusual tech-centric frames that has a genuinely thought-through approach. The ottoman is powered, the TV rises at the foot end at the press of a remote, and Dolby Atmos speakers are built into the footboard, so movie nights genuinely feel cinematic without bringing in extra kit. It is a statement bed, but also an affordable storage bed, which is why it caught my eye.
Design & Build
The look is fairly neutral and modern with a slim foot end to neatly house a TV without dominating a room. Upholstery is a neutral fabric that is smart but fairly forgiving of everyday use, and the headboard is generously padded with tapered sides that also create nice frames for pillows. It all comes together to look premium without shouting, which is important with something this big. The frame is offered in double, king and super king, so it fits most UK bedrooms and mattress layouts.
Hardware and connectivity is where it gets interesting. You have HDMI ports for consoles or a set-top box, Bluetooth for rapid audio pairing, and both USB-A and USB-C charging available. In practice I found them fairly easy to reach during assembly, and it helps to keep cabling tidy once you have everything routed. The footboard can fit a TV of up to 43 inches, which is sensible for typical viewing distances in a bedroom.
Assembly & Setup
This is not a lightweight flat-pack. It is an electric ottoman with motorised TV lift, speakers and cabling, so allow plenty of space to assemble it and run wires cleanly. Furniture Village's delivery includes room-of-choice and, where appropriate, assembly, which I would highly recommend for most buyers. If you do assemble yourself, keep the protective wraps on until the bed is in position to avoid scuffs and be mindful of the lift and TV mechanisms when moving panels.
Comfort & Practicality
As a bed frame, comfort comes from the solid platform and the tall, padded headboard that is pleasing to lean on for reading or streaming. In-store the headboard padding seemed dense and supportive rather than spongey, which helps when you sit up for extended stretches. The foot end also stays low profile when the TV is down, so it does not eat into visual space too much. Crucially, maximum mattress weight is specified as 105 kg for all sizes, so bear that in mind if you run a very deep hybrid or latex mattress.
Storage
The end-lift ottoman is powered by an electrical assist, with a button on the side to operate it. The lift felt smooth and consistent during my trial, opening to a single cavernous compartment that is ideal for spare bedding and out-of-season clothes. Because it is an end-lift design, access is easier even in narrower rooms, and the powered mechanism also removes the wrestle you sometimes get with heavy mattresses on manual gas struts. As with any ottoman, keep hands well away from the mechanism and do not sit on the frame while opening or closing.
Everyday Use
Living with this bed should be refreshingly simple. The TV lift is remote controlled, it pairs rapidly over Bluetooth for audio, and those USB-A and USB-C ports cut down on the need for a separate bedside charger. Two HDMI inputs mean you can leave a console and a streaming box permanently connected, and the Atmos speaker array gives noticeably richer, taller sound than the average soundbar replacement. Note, you will only fully benefit from Atmos if your TV and content support it, which is clearly flagged in the spec. Routine care is standard for upholstery, with vacuuming and prompt attention to spills advised.
In terms of value, at the time of writing I saw it at £2599 in sale, reduced from £3499, with the normal lead time and finance options available. As with any retailer sale, prices and delivery windows can fluctuate, but it makes the Sonic a high-end TV bed that undercuts the cost of buying a separate ottoman, TV lift cabinet and audio system.
Who It Suits
Home cinema fans who want a tidy, integrated TV and audio setup without speakers on show. The Dolby Atmos implementation and discreet connectivity are genuinely useful for film and series fans.
Storage seekers who need serious underbed capacity and prefer a powered lift to make access effort-free.
Tech-forward households that appreciate dual HDMI, Bluetooth and onboard USB charging for streamlined cable management.
Who It Does Not Suit
Very heavy mattress owners, particularly those running ultra-dense latex or extra-deep hybrids that might push the 105 kg maximum. Check your mattress spec first.
Minimalists who would rather keep screens out of the bedroom or avoid motorised mechanisms completely.
Shallow rooms where the footboard clearance for the TV rise could be tight, or where you cannot easily stand to access cables at the end of the bed.
Final Verdict
The Sonic Smart Electric End Lift Ottoman TV Bed Frame with Dolby Atmos from Furniture Village is an above-average all-in-one TV bed with an unexpected depth of storage, streamlined connectivity and genuinely useful audio integration. The TV and ottoman lifts feel robust and user-friendly, the built-in speakers are a cut above typical TV-bed efforts, and the storage space turns the base into a real wardrobe extender. Add in the neat port selection and 43 inch TV capacity, and it adds up to a convincing all-in-one hub for modern bedrooms. Provided your mattress is within weight limit and you are happy to pay for the integrated tech, it is a genuinely excellent, clutter-reducing choice that delivers on the promise of a true movie-night bed.
