Why our sleep experts loved it
Made for children, this mattress is water repellent and has a removable and washable cover, making it easy to wipe clean and ensuring it stays fresh for its entire lifetime. I got my hands on this one while helping a mate look for a cot mattress, and the first thing I did was run my hand across the cover, it feels smooth and practical rather than 'luxury', but that's kind of the point with baby kit. The benefit for this is that it keeps your child comfortable while reducing the amount of cleaning you need to do.
What makes the Over The Moon Traditional Spring Mattress particularly special is that it keeps your baby's body temperature balanced with this breathable, heat-regulating, PVC-free sprung mattress with perspiration control. When I pressed down in the middle and then around the corners, it bounced back quickly and didn't feel like it was going to hold a dip, which is what I want to see on a baby mattress.
The benefit of this is that your baby ends up getting good support while also proving to be hypoallergenic, keeping mites at bay. This 132-spring mattress is free of PVC, anti-allergy, and anti-allergenic to prevent irritation to your baby's skin. That said, 132 springs isn't a huge count, so if you're expecting that more 'tailored' feel you get from pocket springs, this is a simpler, more basic support. And because it's water repellent, it can feel a touch less breathable than a fully natural fibre option if your little one runs warm, even with the heat-regulating claims.
Reviews are particularly good, with many happy parents who are impressed with the great quality and deep layer that provides your child with a great nights sleep and, hopefully, prevents more sleepless nights for mums and dads. For me personally, it sits in the good value, sensible choice bracket, but I'd want to double check the depth against your cot and fitted sheets, and I'd also like to see proper side handles for easier lifting and airing out.
