The KomfiMed Pro Medium Mattress is a UK-made, all-foam mattress that arrives rolled, and we have some points on it to share with our readers. There is genuine innovation and thought behind its design and structure, but let’s see if its features hold up under scrutiny, and whether it justifies its price point.
How we assessed it
The KomfiMed Pro is foam all the way through, with castellated reflex foam, Komfi's TrueGel comfort layer and an Ecofoam core, and the listing rates it medium to firm. On paper that points to a steady, flat feel with none of the bounce of a sprung mattress. Very little of your partner's movement should reach your side of it. If you change position a lot, I'd expect it to be easy to turn over on, because reflex foam is resilient and shouldn't hold you in a dent the way deep memory foam can.
Design and Features
The KomfiMed Pro is marketed as a medium to firm mattress, boasting the patented TrueGel grid-like structure. This unique technology is designed to regulate temperature by transferring heat away from your body, which, theoretically, should provide an uninterrupted night's sleep. The undoubted standout feature is the medically-proven castellated reflex foam. This foam is engineered to mould to your physique, thus promoting spinal alignment and providing a tailored sleep experience.
To put it in non-tech jargon, the mattress has a bumpy surface where the 'valleys' and 'peaks' move independently. These act like small cushions that flex and rebound as you move, helping to maintain even weight distribution, minimise motion transfer and alleviate pressure from your joints.
However, I do harbour some scepticism about its heat regulation prowess. The TrueGel grid is a single comfort layer in a mattress that is otherwise all foam, and foam is known to retain heat, so I wouldn't expect it to cool that significantly. This might be a point of concern, especially for those seeking maximum thermal comfort.
The mattress cover is a soft, micro-quilted knit, which enhances the overall comfort experience. However, the fact that it's a non-removable cover means you might want to invest in a quality mattress protector to prolong the mattress's lifespan.
Comfort Analysis
In terms of comfort, let's be honest, it is a little firm-leaning for a medium-firm mattress, which may not match everyone's preference. If you're someone who likes to sink deeply into your mattress, you might find the KomfiMed Pro a tad stiff. For back and side sleepers, this mattress's firmness could potentially serve you well, allowing your spinal alignment to be maintained, but it may not provide the ultimate 'cloud-like' experience some crave.
One aspect I did appreciate was the 25cm depth, giving it a substantial presence, which undeniably adds to the overall comfort experience. That being said, this depth could present a challenge to those with non-standard bedding or bedframes. Another point to consider is the necessity of regular rotation. The one-sided design means that to maintain its durability and performance, you will be required to rotate the mattress every few months.
Suitability
My opinion is that the KomfiMed Pro Medium Mattress is best suited for average-weight side sleepers. The medium tension tackles the task of cushioning vulnerable pressure points brilliantly. But, if you're a back sleeper, you might find this offers insufficient pushback, leading to less contouring and support.

The Verdict
After rigorous analysis and a keen eye for criticism, here is where we land with our verdict. The KomfiMed Pro Mattress is undoubtedly a high-quality product, but it may not be the answer for all your sleep needs, in particular due to its 'firmer' medium-firm tension and potential cooling issues. Its price point, while reasonable for the advanced technology it employs, may be a bit steep given its limited features.
On a positive note, the brand's eco-conscious choice to use recycled and re-engineered foam is solid. This, coupled with Komfi's carbon-neutral manufacturing methods, surely makes the mattress an ecologically ethical purchase.
However, bearing in mind the key factors like its strong firmness tendency, heat regulation issues, and the need for regular rotation, we would, on balance, see a few similar or even lower-priced alternatives achieving better scores for all-round performance based on our experience and market knowledge.
Comfort is a deeply personal factor, which could be highly subjective. What might be a deal-breaker for one could be a winner for others. The KomfiMed Pro leans heavily towards a specific demographic. If you lean towards firmer support and premium materials, this might be an investment worth considering. For those yearning for a plush, cooling, and soft experience, you might want to look around a bit more before making a final decision.
