This is the ottoman Reign, a different purchase from the standard bed frame. That matters. The lift-up base is the point of it, and in the showroom it felt like a bed designed for a main bedroom where spare bedding and cushions need somewhere to go.
First impression in the showroom
The velvet-finish fabric gives the Reign its appeal straight away. It has a soft, dressy look, helped by the honeycomb stitching on the headboard and the rounded corners. I would not call it subtle, although it avoids the overstuffed look some padded beds fall into.
There are 4 colour choices: green, silver, lilac and blue. The green would be my pick. Customer comments repeatedly praise that shade, with owners describing it as rich, elegant and close to the pictures. The blue also seems to work well against pale walls. Velvet brings upkeep with it, of course. Dust, lint and pet hair will show sooner here than on a tighter woven fabric. A lint roller may become part of the ownership experience.
Against the IKEA MALM ottoman, the Reign feels far plusher and looks much more bedroom-centred. MALM is cleaner and easier to wipe down. The Reign wins on softness and presence. I could not judge long-term fabric flattening from a showroom model, and that is the one surface issue I would keep in mind.
Lift-up base and support
The ottoman action felt smooth when I tried it in store. Several owners say the same, calling it easy to lift and spacious underneath. One buyer liked that the storage area was open, with no centre split getting in the way. Useful detail. This is the type of storage that can swallow seasonal bedding and spare pillows without turning the room into a cupboard.
The sprung slats are where I become more cautious. They should help airflow and soften shock under the mattress, yet they can change how a mattress feels. One owner said their mattress became softer on this frame than it had been on a divan base, followed by backache. That tracks with my experience of slatted ottomans. Assembly deserves a pause. Some owners found it simple, with bolts already positioned and the slat frame dropping on top. Others found the ottoman mechanism awkward and suggested paying for assembly. I would pay. Heavy hinged bases are rarely fun to wrestle with at home, and having the packaging taken away is a bonus. A faff avoided.
The height will not suit everyone. One customer felt the low frame reduced the storage space and made the bed less practical. Another liked that it was slightly smaller than the base being replaced. I did not find the showroom model awkwardly low, but this is worth checking against your current bed height before ordering.

The positive owner pattern is clear: people like the look, the storage and the sturdy feel. Several mention prompt delivery, helpful store staff and good value during promotional periods. Green appears to be the safest colour choice if you want the richest finish.
The weaker comments are practical rather than vague grumbling. A marked headboard on arrival, missing straps, bent foot pads and a wrong-item delivery all came up. Dreams appears to have resolved some of those cases, yet I would still inspect the headboard and fittings before signing off delivery. Worth the check.
Final call
I would consider the TEMPUR® Reign Velvet-Finish Ottoman Bed Frame while it is on offer. The guarantee does not impress me, and the sprung slat base needs care if you are chasing a firm mattress feel. The frame itself looked good in store, with storage that buyers clearly use heavily at home. My order would be green, ottoman version, paid assembly.
