The Hypnos Burford Ortho Comfort Mattress is a high-quality and comfortable choice for those seeking orthopaedic support. Its clever ReActivePro™ 6-turn pocket springs and sumptuous natural fillings offer a medium to firm feel that helps to ease back and hip aches and pains while the UK manufacturing and handmade workmanship are both a sign of its attention to detail and craftsmanship. The fillings are sustainably sourced too, including cotton fibres that are highly breathable and wick away moisture, as well as Solotex™, a recycled synthetic fibre that adds a soft, plush layer.
One of the standout features of the Hypnos Burford Ortho Comfort Mattress is its ReActivePro™ 6-turn pocket springs. These springs are engineered to provide full body orthopaedic support, with each spring having precisely six turns that allow them to seamlessly disperse pressure downward. The sensitivity of the spring increases with each turn, allowing it to adapt to the applied pressure. This helps to provide pressure relief and ensure that the base layer contours to the shape of your body for a more comfortable sleep.
These same springs are also where most of the tension resides, and in this case you get the medium to firm feel of the Hypnos Burford Ortho Comfort Mattress to provide strong back support and helps to correctly align the spine. The soft sleeping surface has been hand tufted with British wool to create a smooth, sturdier surface, adding an extra layer of support. What's more, the Burford is also filled with sustainably sourced natural fibres, including strong and durable cotton which helps in ensuring a high-quality sleep experience. Hypnos works with experienced farmers to ensure that the fillings are certified and traced back to their origins, making the Burford a responsible choice for those who value sustainability.
That's the inside of the product covered, but the outside can be just as important and in this instance the cover of the Hypnos Burford Ortho Comfort Mattress is made from sustainably sourced natural cotton, which helps to keep you cool and is treated with a natural fire retardancy, removing the need for any chemical treatments on the product. The two rows of hand side-stitching create a strong edge on the mattress, with the border stitched onto the pocket spring system to maximise the amount of sleeping surface. The spring unit also has rod edging attached for added support which prevents roll-off and allows more of the surface area to be utilised, it's quite clever stuff.
Additional features worth mentioning are that the mattress is double-sided, allowing for easy flipping and rotating to extend its lifespan. The product comes with handles to make this process easier, and it is recommended to flip and rotate the mattress seasonally to ensure even wear and tear. The Burford also comes with a 10-year guarantee, giving customers confidence in its durability and performance.
One potential drawback of the Hypnos Burford Ortho Comfort Mattress is its depth of 27cm, which may be too thick for those with normal sheets, instead requiring deeper sheets. Some people may find the size incompatible with their frame as some low-lying bed frames need more clearance between the top of the product and the headboard. It's important to measure the height of your bed frame and the clearance you have before purchasing the Burford to ensure it will fit comfortably.
Another potential issue with the Hypnos Burford Ortho Comfort Mattress is its firmness level. While the medium to firm feel may be ideal for those seeking orthopaedic support, it may not be suitable for everyone. If you prefer a softer or firmer mattress, the Burford may not be the best choice for you. It's important to consider your personal preference for mattress firmness when deciding if the Burford is the right fit for you. Ideally suited for back sleepers, side sleepers may want to look elsewhere in the new Hypnos lineup for something in the medium tension range, as the Ortho Comfort is more suited toward those sleeping on their back.
Overall, the Hypnos Burford Ortho Comfort Mattress is a well-crafted and supportive option for those seeking a quality sleep experience. Its clever ReActivePro™ 6-turn pocket springs and natural fillings look to provide a fantastic nights sleep.
