Healthbeds have been making beds and mattresses for over 125 years, their aim is to create premier quality products at an affordable price. First founded by the Smeaton family, back in 1893 the company has come a long way since, now serving many customers around the country.
Healthbeds mattresses take advantage of the latest technical advancements in hypoallergenic, temperature regulating fillings and use these materials to help create the perfect mattress at the perfect price point. When I ran my hand over the cover on a couple in-store, it felt smooth enough, but not quite as plush as some pricier rivals.
These mattresses have gained quite a following in recent years due to being a fan-favourite with many of the independent mattress retailers, prolific in the industry. These mattresses all comply with flame resistance guidelines and have fantastic quality control with their own ventilation system built into all products dubbed Healthi-Flo which helps keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. That said, if you’re a proper hot sleeper, I wouldn’t bank on it feeling as airy as a full-on open coil or a very breathable latex option.
Are Healthbeds Mattresses Any Good?
Healthbeds mattresses are well reviewed due to their prominence among retailers. Many find the build quality adequate relative to the price with the main concerns revolving around the firmness ratings that sometimes appear off relative to what the customer expects. Since firmness is entirely subjective it would be unfair to judge the brand too harshly for this, but, do be aware when purchasing that firmness may be a percentage point firmer than advertised. When I sat on the edge of one, it held up decently, but there was still a bit of dip, so if you sit on the side a lot it’s something to keep in mind. Not a problem for many, and indeed, you’ll certainly avoid back pain, but lighter side sleepers might find the firmer feel a touch pushy around the shoulder.
