Why our sleep experts loved it
Advertising itself as a high-end, cooling hybrid, the Sleepeezee Zenith 4500 Combination Mattress certainly ticks the boxes in terms of look and feel when you test it in-store. It has a plush, hotel-style pillow top that you can’t fail to notice, and a deep build which gives the sense that you are buying something very substantial, rather than a thin, fashion-led mattress.
I tried the medium comfort version in store, and as a side sleeper, I immediately took to it. I sank in quite a lot through the top comfort layers, with a lovely cradle around my shoulders and hips. At the same time, though, the headline spring count is something you should see in context, and the feel might be a little too yielding for some sleepers.
Construction & Materials This is a hybrid model that uses a pocket-sprung support core, topped with a thick, cushioned pillow top. It is designed to feel plush and responsive, with micro springs in the upper comfort section alongside some memory foam layers, before reaching the main pocket spring unit below.
The main issue I have with this is the way the “4500” naming is likely to be interpreted. In reality, the micro springs in the pillow top can help add a springy, cushioned surface that enhances comfort, but they are not involved in posture and spinal support in the way a full-depth pocket spring system is. It makes the big spring number in the name feel more like a marketing hook than a genuine support upgrade.
The memory foam component is there to contour and provide pressure relief, while the overall build is also intended to avoid the heavy, stuck-in-foam sensation that can blight some hybrids. The end result is a softer top that hugs, with a little underlying lift from the springs.
Firmness & Feel The medium tension I tried was best suited to side sleeping, in my opinion. The pillow top and foam let you sink in, which is exactly what many side sleepers want because it helps accommodate the shoulder and hip rather than forcing you to perch on top.
It is a very plush medium, though. The surface feel is immediately cushioned and quite enveloping, so if you prefer a firmer, flatter sleep surface, it may feel too indulgent. I also think dedicated back sleepers should pay attention to hip sink. If your hips settle too deeply, it can leave your lower back feeling less supported over a full night, even if it feels wonderful for the first few minutes.
Performance & Support The underlying pocket springs provide the structure, and the overall feel is geared more towards comfort and pressure relief than a taut, highly supportive, on-top sensation. For side sleeping, that is a win, as the mattress smooths pressure points very effectively.
For back sleeping, it depends on your build and preference. If you like a bit of hug and you are not particularly heavy through the middle, you may find it comfortable. If you need a firmer, more lifted feel to keep your lumbar area supported, you might find it a touch too yielding.
Edge support feels better than many plush-topped hybrids, which is helpful if you sit on the side of the bed or share with someone who spreads out. Movement isolation should also be decent, as the combination of foam and pocket springs tends to mute motion transfer compared to bouncier, more traditional spring systems.
Temperature Regulation This mattress is clearly working to address heat build-up, using a breathable cover approach and foam choices that are supposed to be more temperature-managing than standard memory foam. In-store, it did not have that warm, clingy feel that some memory hybrids can develop.
That said, any deep, cushioned pillow top will still retain some warmth simply because there is more material for your body to nest into. If you are extremely heat-sensitive, you may still prefer a firmer surface with less sink, but for a plush hybrid this felt like a sensible attempt at keeping things balanced.
Practical Features This is a very deep mattress, which is encouraging from a premium comfort perspective but does come with practical considerations. You are likely to need extra-deep fitted sheets, and ideally a deep skirted protector too, otherwise corners can ping loose because standard fitted sheets struggle to grip taller mattresses properly.
The depth and overall build also mean it is likely to be heavy and awkward to manoeuvre. If you have tight stairs or a narrow hallway, delivery and positioning is the moment you will be glad you have help.
Who It Suits Side sleepers who want that proper sink-in pressure relief, especially around the shoulders and hips.
Anyone who likes a plush, hotel-style feel , with a cushioned pillow top rather than a flatter sleep surface.
Couples who want a calmer feel with reduced partner disturbance and more stable edges than many soft-topped mattresses.
Warm sleepers who still like memory foam , provided you want a plush feel and are not extremely heat-sensitive.
Who It Doesn’t Suit Back sleepers who need firmer lumbar support , particularly if you are heavier through the midsection or dislike a deeper cradle.
Front sleepers , because the plush top is likely to let the hips dip and can strain the lower back.
Value-led shoppers who want maximum support-per-pound, as the premium pricing feels ambitious once you separate comfort features from true support components.
Final Verdict The Sleepeezee Zenith 4500 Combination Mattress is a genuinely comfortable, very plush hybrid that does its best work for side sleepers and anyone chasing that sink-in, pressure-relieving feel. The deep build and strong first impression mean it feels premium in the way you would hope at this end of the market.
My hesitation is about value and messaging. The micro springs in the pillow top add a pleasant, responsive cushioning, but they do not transform the underlying support in the way the big spring number might imply. If you fall in love with the feel, it can be a brilliant choice for side sleeping comfort, but I would be cautious if you are a back sleeper who needs a more supportive, lifted posture, or if you want the most objective support upgrade for the money.
