Why our sleep experts loved it
The Layezee Comfort Memory Pillow Top Mattress combines the comfort of a pillow top with the support of traditional spring coils.
I got my hands on this one in-store and the first thing I did was press down into the pillow top, it has that classic cushy feel on the surface, but you can tell pretty quickly there is a firmer spring unit underneath doing the heavy lifting.
Layezee mattresses are handcrafted to the highest quality standards using traditional techniques and materials. Each mattress comes with a 3 year guarantee which is 2 years more than typical for the industry and a great testament of how much faith the manufacturer and retailer both have in this mattress.
That said, 3 years still is not massive in the grand scheme of things, and at this sort of price point I do like seeing 5 years as standard, even if it is just for peace of mind.
The Layezee Comfort mattress is made from traditional open coil springs which are then topped with a layer of memory foam and finally a pillow top for extra comfort. When I ran my hand across the top panel it felt nicely padded and inviting, and when I lay on my back I could feel the memory foam settle in after a few seconds, then the open coil springs push back evenly across my hips and lower back.
The trade-off with open coil is you do not get the same targeted support as pocket springs, so if you are a side sleeper with bony shoulders or hips, you might find it a bit pushy in those pressure points. Motion isolation is also not its strong suit, when I shifted my weight I could feel the movement travel more than it would on a pocket sprung mattress.
This combination ensures you get the best of both worlds, traditional comfort combined with modern support.
