If you’re looking for a bedside chest, you’ve likely already figured out that there are a lot of options out there. And while all of them are different in some way, they also have many similarities. That’s because they all have one goal in mind: to be the best bedside chest for your bedroom. When I’m testing these, I always give the drawers a few quick open and closes, you’d be surprised how many feel a bit rough or wobbly straight out of the box.
So what makes a good bedside chest? Well, it needs to be functional, first and foremost. It should make it easy for you to reach your things without getting out of bed. It should be sturdy enough to hold up over time and look nice in your bedroom. I also press down on the top and give it a gentle shake, if it flexes or rocks at all, it’s going to get annoying fast. And if it’s a glossy finish, fingerprints and little scuffs can show up pretty quickly, especially if you’ve got a lamp and a phone living on it every night.
