Why our sleep experts loved it
The Super Firm Foam Mattress gave me a very clear impression in store: hard, basic, and only really persuasive at the right price. Reflex foam and memory foam behave differently. This one had a flatter push-back under my hand, without the slow moulding feel many shoppers associate with foam beds.
There is no clever layering to discover here. It is a 20cm reflex foam mattress with a removable soft-knit cover, and the simplicity shows as soon as you lie on it. Cheap and firm can be useful. Cheap and firm sold at too high a price becomes a problem.
A plain foam core with a few practical details
The main construction is Deep Reflex Foam, pitched for extra firm orthopaedic support and spinal alignment. In the showroom it did feel properly firm, so the tension claim is fair. The pressure relief claim needs far more caution. A hard foam surface can hold the body level, yet it does not automatically cushion joints well.
The cover is one of the better points. It is removable and machine washable, so keeping the sleep surface fresher should be easier than with many budget mattresses. The mattress is also hypoallergenic, vegan friendly, made in the UK, and produced by an NBF-approved manufacturer. Useful boxes ticked, though none of them change the fact that the comfort system is extremely basic.
It is supplied vacuum packed and rolled, with no need to turn. That helps with delivery and rotation chores, but I would be watching how evenly the foam settles after regular use. The store model cannot tell you much about six months of nightly compression. Same with the breathability claim. The brand talks about enhanced air circulation, yet a warm bedroom in July is the real test.
Firmness: strong support, little forgiveness
Lying on my back, the mattress kept my pelvis from dropping. That is the best argument for it. People who hate a dipped, spongy bed may find the surface reassuring, and the claimed orthopaedic support felt believable in that narrow sense.
Rolling onto my side exposed the compromise quickly. My shoulder met resistance almost straight away, and the hip area did not sink enough for a relaxed side-sleeping posture. No surprise there. A single block of reflex foam rarely gives the shaped comfort you get from a better layered foam mattress or a pocket sprung hybrid.
The “no roll together” claim is harder to confirm from a solo showroom lie-down. Foam does tend to dampen movement better than a lively sprung unit, but partner disturbance needs a proper night with two people. I would not buy it for a shared bed based on that claim alone.
Best matched to rigid sleep positions
Back sleepers are the obvious audience. Front sleepers may also get on with it, provided they want a very firm feel across the chest and hips. The mattress is also described as suitable for heavier builds, and the immediate resistance does support that idea.
Side sleepers with wider hips or shoulders should be careful. Hourglass figures need some give through the hip and shoulder line, and this mattress offers very little. A firmer Silentnight Miracoil or an Emma Original bought in a sale would be a more rounded choice for a main bed at a similar budget level.
Customer comments tell the same story
The owner feedback is short, but it reads consistently. “Very firm mattress, my dad loves it” sounds exactly right for this product. Another buyer called the hardness “as expected”, and I believe that. Nobody should open this expecting a plush top.
The sciatic pain comment is also interesting. A reviewer said the mattress was great for reducing it, and I can see how a hard, level surface might help some back sleepers. Still, pain relief is personal. The same firmness that helps one person’s lower back could aggravate another person’s shoulder.
Comments such as “hope it lasts for long time” get to the question I had in store. The finish looked tidy and the cover felt acceptable, but long-term foam durability is where budget designs either prove themselves or disappoint. Source 5 fire resistance and tree-planting with orders are nice to see. They are not reasons to overlook the basic build.
The price point I would accept
Under £200, this makes sense for a spare room, a back sleeper, or someone who specifically wants a very firm mattress with a washable cover. Above that, I would walk away and put the money into a mattress with springs or a proper comfort layer. The firmness is clear. The value depends entirely on the ticket price in front of you.
