The purpose of a computer desk is to provide a space to work at your computer. It is not supposed to be a complete office solution. If you are looking for a complete office solution, you will want to get an office desk. When I ran my hand over a couple in person, the tops felt a bit more 'laminated' than solid wood, which is fine, but it does show up fingerprints.
Computer desks are usually smaller than an office desk and can be placed in any room where there is some open space. They can also be placed in any corner of the room.
