Why our sleep experts loved it
When it comes to getting a great night's sleep, it's important to find the right mattress. And if you're in the market for a product that is supportive, comfortable and long-lasting, then a Silentnight Ortho Firm Mattress might be the perfect option for you.
This product is designed to give you the support and comfort you need, thanks to its Miracoil spring system that helps to keep your spine in alignment while you sleep. In this review, we'll take a closer look at the features and benefits of the Silentnight Ortho Firm Mattress so you can make an informed decision when it comes to buying the right product for you.
For those unaware, the Silentnight Ortho Firm Mattress is part of the Eco Comfort range of mattresses from Silentnight. This brand has been providing quality beds since the 1950s, with a focus on comfort and support and hopefully the Ortho Firm continues that tradition, let’s find out below..
The Base Layer
The Silentnight Ortho Firm Mattress is designed with the Miracoil spring system which provides superior support for your spine and body, as it works to keep your spine in alignment while you sleep. The springs are designed to provide consistent support throughout the mattress, ensuring that your spine is supported no matter which position you sleep in. It works well, but it isn’t the top of the range, being beaten out by the more premium Mirapocket spring system found in slightly higher priced products in the same range.
One downside to Miracoil springs over their Mirapocket counterparts is in body contouring and while the Miracoil performs sufficiently well, you’ll want to consider increasing your budget slightly if you find yourself in need or something a bit more premium with better motion transfer.
The base layer in the mattress is also where the majority of the support is found, meaning that the firm orthopaedic feel of the base layer comes from these springs. As the name perhaps alludes, this is an orthopaedic specialist item that is produced with their targeted customer in mind. This means it is unlikely to be suitable for those who do not need this type of support system. If indeed you do not suffer from back pain, or do not like a firm feel, consider a medium tension product elsewhere. Same too, if you sleep on your side or are a combination sleeper, consider a different mattress. For those that need orthopaedic support, this item is a lifeline but for those who do not, they will likely not find enjoyment nor comfort in this product.
The Comfort Layer
The Silentnight Ortho Firm Mattress is made with Eco Comfort Fibres™ in the comfort layer which provides an extra layer of comfort and support. This material is designed to be breathable, helping to keep you cool and comfortable while you sleep. The Eco Comfort Fibres™ also help to improve the products' durability, as they are designed to last longer than traditional materials which makes them a great option for those who are looking for a product that will last for years to come. Finally, the primary non-comfort related reason we love this layer is due to the environmentally friendly impact that it has, being recycled from around 1000 plastic bottles and being converted into a soft and luxurious comfort layer that now makes up the majority of new Silentnight Mattresses.
And so..
This mattress is made with Miracoil springs and Eco Comfort Fibres™, which work together to provide comfort and support. The product also has a firm tension, making it a great option for those who need extra support and since it is produced by the powerhouse in the industry known as Silentnight, you know you are getting a decent product at a fair price. The orthopaedic support will certianly appeal to those who need more support, but consider your options carefully if you are a side sleeper as this product will likely not be suitable.
