Are you looking for a good quality mattress at a low price point? Look no further than the Airsprung 1200 Pocket Mattress, designed to provide the maximum level of comfort and support. It is made with a combination of pocket springs and a blend of poly-cotton, wool and silk in the comfort layer. This mattress is available in a medium to firm tension, making it perfect for most sleeping positions. What’s more, the pocket springs in the mattress are designed to provide superior support while the blend of poly-cotton, wool and silk in the comfort layer provides comfort and breathability. The mattress is topped with a quilted top panel to add an extra layer of comfort.

For those who have never heard of the manufacturer before, Airsprung is a leading British bedding manufacturer, specialising in mattresses, beds and bedding accessories. They have been in business for over 140 years, and are committed to providing quality products at an affordable price.

Let’s break down the different layers of this budget mattress below.

Base Layer

Pocket springs provide superior support, as each coil is individually wrapped and contours to your body shape for ultimate comfort. However, pocket springs can be more expensive than other types of mattress, so it is important to weigh up the pros and cons when deciding if a pocket spring mattress is right for you. Pocket springs also offer a more durable mattress, as the individual coils are less likely to wear out or sag over time. The individual coils also move independently, which helps to reduce motion transfer, making it ideal for couples who toss and turn a lot at night. It’s surprising then, that this mattress fits in the budget price point with such a good quality support system.

The tension and support that you feel in the mattress typically comes from this pocket spring layer and in the case of the Airsprung 1200 Pocket, it comes in a medium firm tension. This level of support is quite popular, making it suitable for most sleeping styles with a preference toward back and stomach sleepers although side sleepers should also find a degree of comfort with this product. Ultimately, a medium to firm mattress provides a good balance of comfort and support, and is suitable for people of all sizes and shapes to some degree.

Comfort Layer

The blend of poly-cotton, wool and silk in the comfort layer is designed to provide you with maximum comfort and breathability. The poly-cotton provides a soft and supportive surface, while the wool offers temperature regulation and moisture wicking properties. Finally, the silk adds an extra layer of luxury and comfort. This combination of materials has great breathability which makes this product ideal for those who are looking for an all-season mattress that won’t cause them to get too hot while they sleep, allowing deeper sleep for longer.

And So…

If you're looking for a good quality mattress at a low price point, the Airsprung 1200 Pocket Mattress is an excellent choice. It is sure to provide you with a great night's sleep, and is backed by an impressive 5 year warranty. So why not give it a try today?

Key Performance Indicators KPI question mark

Our Key Performance Indicators are produced using a combination of specification-heavy algoritmic data points and user reviews. For example, a firm pocket spring support layer is more breathable and offers better back support but may prove unsuitable for side sleepers, the reverse is true for a soft-medium tension reflex foam support layer. This is one of 100+ datapoints considered when generating the below ratings.

*Assuming average weight, suitability will vary dependant on body type, use the quiz above for a more tailored guide.
  • Back Sleepers
  • The amount of support offered from a mattress will vary depending on the firmness of the tension and the type of support layer used. Based on a person of average build.
  • Side Sleepers
  • If you sleep on your side you typically need a supportive tension that is not too firm, nor too soft. This is because your hips and shoulders need adequate sinkage.
  • Stomach Sleepers
  • Stomach sleepers need a reasonable amount of tension in the base support layer to adequately offer body contouring and help prevent aches and pains. Results will vary based on your build.

  • Breathability
  • Mattresses that feature breathable materials help promote airflow and keep you cool making for a more hygienic night's sleep.
  • Turning on mattress
  • Certain materials like memory foam can make it difficult to move about on the mattress while you toss and turn. Same too for pillow tops which can create a cloud like sensation which can make manoeuvrability challenging.
  • Stability
  • Depending on the type of support layer in place can have an impact on stability, edge to edge support and roll together prevention. Pocket springs of a firmer tension will have better stability than open coil soft tension, for example.

  • Initial Odour
  • Materials in mattresses, particularly memory foam and rolled bed-in-a-box mattresses can have an initial odour, this is typically short term and reduces considerably within 24 hours.
  • Long Standing Odour
  • Certain materials inside different mattresses can produce a small odour. Typically this is short term rather than long standing but there are minor exceptions.

A medium-firm and highly supportive pocket sprung mattress

A medium firm tension mattress is slightly firmer than your average medium mattress. This is ideal for those who either prefer a little bit more support, or, those that have a slightly higher BMI than average. You may also benefit from a medium firmness mattress where you are suffering from neck/back pain as the additional support can help prevent and alleviate these symptoms.

Featuring 1200 individual pocket springs for full-body support

Pocket springs are probably the best support layer you can get in a mattress helping to provide measured and even support across your body where you need it most. What's more, the unique feeling of pocket springs hugs each point of your body, offering contouring across each pressure point to relieve aches and pains. Lesser models will frequently include alternatives to pocket springs like open coil traditional springs and reflex foam. Do not be fooled, while pocket springs are often slightly more money than their counterparts, you are typically getting a better spring system and base layer. When it comes to pocket springs and the quality within, the more springs generally the better as the density will increase contouring ever-closer to your body as you sleep.

Pocket springs work independently from each other, for a tailor-made feel

Pocket springs are of considerable better quality than their poorer traditional open coil counterparts. Put simply, pocket spring contours better and supports better than other base layers. When it comes to pocket spring mattresses, the general rule of thumb is that the more springs the better. There are exceptions, of course, but for the best part this is likely to be a good quality mattress based on it's base layer.

A natural comfort blend of poly-cotton, wool and silk add a touch of luxury

Natural fibres are wonderfully comfortable and breathable

Pure and natural fillings are typically from animal or plant fibers. These can include: Wool, Cashmere, Hemp or Latex commonly.

All wrapped in a smooth, hand-tufted damask cover

Hand Tufting is a labor intensive process that involves securing the fittings to a mattress rather than having them operate independently and loose within. This small act not only secures, but also leads to the mattress lasting longer and feeling firmer. A hand-tufted mattress is great for anyone looking for additional stability while they sleep.

Hypoallergenic for a clean and healthy sleep

Allergy sufferers often experience the problem of waking up in the middle of the night or having to get up in the morning with a stuffy nose and eyes. The reason why you wake up with a stuffy nose is because your mattress has accumulated dust mites, mould and mildew, all of which are allergens. The solution is a hypoallergenic mattress is made from materials that do not support mould or dust mites. They also have anti-microbial properties that effectively kill any bacteria that may come into contact with it.

Single-sided for easy care and your convenience - no need to turn over

A single sided mattress is typical for the industry and relates to how  a mattress has the comfort layer on one side of the mattress. only This means that the mattress only needs to be rotated rather than flipped. The benefit of single sided mattresses is that they require less upkeep in that there's no flipping, but also, there's less components involved in the creation which saves costs.

Delivered rolled-up - easier to move around your home

Rolled mattresses are delivered in a smaller airtight mode of shipping that saves retailers on shipping, storage and logistics costs that mean they can pass the savings onto consumers in the form of lower prices. The result means that you can often get a similarly specification mattress for less in rolled form which is fantastic news for those on a budget. With very little downside and positive experiences across the industry, there's plenty of great reasons to make your next mattress a rolled bed-in-a-box product.

Depth: 25cm

Most experts recommend a minimum 10 inches, 4 inches on the top layer and 6 inches for the core so this size is an ideal balance of size and performance. Generally, the heavier the load the deeper the mattress should be.

5 Year Warranty

5 Years of warranty is huge in an industry that typically only gives 1year. This means that both the retailer and the manufacturer both have extremel confidence in this mattresses ability to stand the test of time. After all, daily usage of a mattress racks up a decent allotment of hours, so to offer a warranty of 5 years is astounding and makes this mattress a top pick.

Made in the UK

These are made and manufactured in the UK, meaning that they all meet the same exceptional quality and durability that we expect from genuine UK manufacturing.

Pocket springs

Pocket springs are like natures own springy piece of comfort, except they are not from nature. Alas, pocket springs are a very good part of a mattress and often found in the more premium models. Lower quality products will frequently use open coil spring setups, where pocket springs house each spring in a tiny pocket for additional stability and continued support. Pocket spring typically lasts longer than open coil due to this.

Luxury wool, typically found in mattresses in a shredded and felted capacity is an upholstery fibre often used as a top comfort layer, but sometimes found further down in those mattress layers as part of the support structure

The luxurious natural fibre silk offers enhanced comfort, moisture control and helps to regulate body temperature.  It can reduce heat in the summer and provide warmth in winter.

Soft white fibres

White fibres tend to be a mixture of polester and other non-descript synthetic fibres

Damask cover

Damask is a fabric, woven in nature that is often used to upholster mattresses. It is typically made from linen or cotton and can typically be woven into delivate detailings required by the supplier. The fabrics are typically fairly hard wearing and should not cause problems

This product is unlikely to cause any sort of allergic reaction. Ideal if you suffer from any sort of allergy problems

Rolled up mattresses are ideal for anyone looking at trying to get a mattress up a tight staircase or in a car to bring home from the shops. Do not missunderstand just how troublesome getting a mattress up stairs can be. Heavy and cumbersome, sometimes a rolled up mattress that expands to the side of a full mattress anyway, may be the better option

Medium to Firm

Firmer than the average mattress, a medium to firm mattress is ideally suited to those that are looking for extra back support but still require and amount of comfort from their mattress. Ideally suited for a large range of the populus and becoming much more common, deviating away from the previous medium-for-everyone model.

25cm deep

A 25cm mattress is a good depth for a product of quality. Plenty of room for some good quality springs and enough space for a good top layer of comfort. This side of product should just about fit a standard sheet but do not be surprised if you find you do need to upgrade to a deeper fill sheet to fit over the mattress.

Single sided means only one side is comfy. Positives are you only need to rotate the mattress occassionaly rather than the more cumbersome rotate and flip. Downside is the lifespan of the product may suffer as a result, only marginal, but worth mentioning.

Handcrafted in the UK

Handcrafted in the UK means that the product is built here, by people being paid a fair and honest wage using certified and safe products of good quality and construction. UK manufacturing is some of th best in the world and all of that is reflected in this product

Fire Resistant

Fire resistant does not mean the product will never catch fire, rather, it will not go up in flames quite so quickly. Resistant to fire in the same way that I am resistant to kisses, sooner or later you end up giving in.

Approved by the National Bed Federation

The NBF is one of the most prestigious awarding federations in the industry, helped slightly by the fact that it is one of the only, however, it is still a great source of comfort knowing that this product holds approval by the team
