Becky's Thoughts On The Rest Assured British Wool 2000 Pocket Firmer Mattress

The Rest Assured British Wool 2000 Pocket Firmer Mattress has been designed with the full support of Good Housekeeping Institute to win their approval. It has been developed to be hard wearing and provide great support for the majority of people.

This bed is perfect for those who prefer a firmer mattress. This bed is handcrafted in the UK using the finest British wool and pocket springs, which helps to provide a more supportive feel.

The mattress is covered in a Damask cover, which has been manufactured using a traditional process to ensure a high quality finish that will last. The mattress is also covered with an Orthopaedic layer of fillings and has an Orthopaedic support system that helps to prevent back pain.

What Makes The Rest Assured British Wool 2000 Pocket Firmer Mattress Great?

This product is unlikely to cause any sort of allergic reaction. Ideal if you suffer from any sort of allergy problems

5 year guarantee

A 5 year guarantee is quite rare in the industry and is a great indicator of the retailer beleiving in their product. Anything go wrong in the next 5 years, no drama, get it replaced.

Handcrafted in the UK

Handcrafted in the UK means that the product is built here, by people being paid a fair and honest wage using certified and safe products of good quality and construction. UK manufacturing is some of th best in the world and all of that is reflected in this product

Air Vents

When you sleep you also sweat, when this happens it generally leaks into the mattress. Sounds a little gross but that is the way it works, no drama however as matresses are built to be breathable and air out any moisture buildup, the addition of air vents helps ensure this happens with peak efficiency

Chemical treatment-free

No additional chemical treatments have been performed against the product ensuring it remains as natural as possible.

Orthopaedic Support

Do you suffer from back pain? If so you will likely find that an orthopaedic mattress will be massively beneficial to you. Slightly firmer in the comfort side of things but ultimately with a better support layer means that your back and neck will thank you for years to come.

Damask cover

Damask is a fabric, woven in nature that is often used to upholster mattresses. It is typically made from linen or cotton and can typically be woven into delivate detailings required by the supplier. The fabrics are typically fairly hard wearing and should not cause problems

Firm mattresses are great for those looking for an extra bit of support, either because they have a higher BMI and leanm toward the heavier side, or because they have joint and muscle pain and appreciate a decent amount of support while they sleep. If you are not actively looking for a firm mattress it may be wise to consider something else from the range that is perhaps closer to the medium firmness rating

Double sided just means that the product can be flipped and still retain the same level of comfort. The fillings and dibres inside the product are capable of operating in any direction. Handy for settlement and to prevent dipping.

Approved by the Good Housekeeping Institute 2018

For over 100 years, the Good Housekeeping Institute has been the trusted source for product reviews, ratings, and how-to articles.

Approved by the National Bed Federation

The NBF is one of the most prestigious awarding federations in the industry, helped slightly by the fact that it is one of the only, however, it is still a great source of comfort knowing that this product holds approval by the team

Mattress depth: 37cm

37cm is a fairly substantial depth for a mattress. While a thick mattress is not indicative of greater quality, it's easy to see that a bigger depth gives more room for fillings and good quality spring systems.

Handcrafted in Lancashire, UK

More and more products are starting to be manufactured in the UK and, in keeping with further demand for UK made products, mattresses are beginning to see huge shifts to locally sourced and built products.

Good Housekeeping Institute Approved

The Good Housekeeping Institute is a consumer testing facility. If the product carries the Good Housekeeping seal of approval and is found defective within two years of purchase they offer a limited warranty in the form of a refund, repair or replacement.

37cm deep

The industry standard for mattress depth is 7 inches, with most offering a comfortable 10 to 14 inches. Generally, the higher the load, the deeper it needs to be. But quality is important as a well-built 10-inch mattress can be equally as comfortable and supportive as a budget 12-inch mattress. This 14.5 inch mattress sits at the higher end of the scale, worth consideration for those requiring support for higher weights.

Pocket springs

Pocket springs are like natures own springy piece of comfort, except they are not from nature. Alas, pocket springs are a very good part of a mattress and often found in the more premium models. Lower quality products will frequently use open coil spring setups, where pocket springs house each spring in a tiny pocket for additional stability and continued support. Pocket spring typically lasts longer than open coil due to this.

Fire Resistant

Fire resistant does not mean the product will never catch fire, rather, it will not go up in flames quite so quickly. Resistant to fire in the same way that I am resistant to kisses, sooner or later you end up giving in.

Includes turning handles

Oh turning handles are pointless I hear you say. Just try flipping and turning this product without handles. It can be a pain. Remember that mattresses should be both rotated and flipped frequently, not a problem if you are opting for a sinle, but those doubles and kings can get heavy. Handles are very good.

Luxury wool, typically found in mattresses in a shredded and felted capacity is an upholstery fibre often used as a top comfort layer, but sometimes found further down in those mattress layers as part of the support structure

Firm and orthopaedic for great back support

Firm Tension Support Mattresses are suited to those who prefer sleeping on their front and back. Typically sleeping on your back helps ensure the spine remains aligned throughout the night and is the most natural sleeping position that can prevent twisting and turning. A firm mattress ensures that a high level of support contours around your body, alleviating pressure across your entire frame in a more even manner than that of a soft mattress, most notably in the hips, neck and shoulders. Finally, if you are suffering from neck or back pain, a firm mattress can help alleviate these problems and result in a better and more relaxed sleep for many years to come.

Featuring natural British wool for insulation and comfort

2000 individual pocket springs for high levels of support

Cleverly zoned springs ensure maximum body support

Tufting used throughout the mattress to keep fillings secure

Hand Tufting is a labor intensive process that involves securing the fittings to a mattress rather than having them operate independently and loose within. This small act not only secures, but also leads to the mattress lasting longer and feeling firmer. A hand-tufted mattress is great for anyone looking for additional stability while they sleep.

Double-sided and complete with turning handles for easy movement

The benefits of a double sided mattress are that you get twice the surface area of comfort layers. The real-world practicality of this means that you flip the mattress as well as rotate allowing for better settlement of fillings which increases longevity, while reducing the chance of dipping or spring problems that may otherwise occur. Ultimately the mattress will likely last longer and remain comfortable for a greater duration.

Hypoallergenic, free from foam and chemical treatments for a naturally healthier sleep

Allergy sufferers often experience the problem of waking up in the middle of the night or having to get up in the morning with a stuffy nose and eyes. The reason why you wake up with a stuffy nose is because your mattress has accumulated dust mites, mould and mildew, all of which are allergens. The solution is a hypoallergenic mattress is made from materials that do not support mould or dust mites. They also have anti-microbial properties that effectively kill any bacteria that may come into contact with it.

Also available in Softer and Medium firmness ratings

A medium tension mattress like this is the goldilocks of mattress tensions. Not too soft, nor too firm, medium is typically suitable for the vast majority of people that are looking for a good nights sleep. If you are of average build without back or neck problems, this should be a suitable product. If you are of lower BMI and a side sleeper, consider a softer mattress, whereas if you are of a higher BMI and suffer neck and back pain, consider a firmer tension.

Customer Reviews For The Rest Assured British Wool 2000 Pocket Firmer Mattress

Based on 54 review

Got this mattress as I have multiple health issues, including fibromyalgia and disc problems. The mattress itself is a beast of an item - it weighs 63kg (9 stone 12lbs), so is EXTREMELY heavy. Having said that, it??s incredibly supportive and solid, but comfortable at the same time. I slept like a babe from the first time I used it and have done since! The price was expensive for me, but I was more than happy, in hindsight, that I splashed out, as the quality, comfort and high levels of support I feel warrant the price tag.More than pleased with my choice, and would highly recommend this mattress, if you need support, comfort and quality.

The mattress appears to be finished very nicely and is certainly very heavy. Although the mattress was indicated to be firm support we are disappointed that it is not a firm as we expected. The edges, where you position yourself when getting into bed are very soft. Even with us turning and rotating the bed as instructed you get an impression that the bed is flattening where you lay.

Im 63kg male age 77 and the support of the medium is just right for me. I like the fact that its two sided. Ive tried memory foam and latex which were comfy but the the wool keeps you cool unlike the others. 100 p/cent pleased with it.

Exactly what I expected, a good quality natural firm mattress. My last pocket mattress was lovely but just a bit too squishy, wanted something similar but with a bit more support. The firmer mattress does exactly that.

Perfect, just so comfy, soft but not squidgy if that makes sense. Its really well made and top quality. Sleeping well and cant wait to go to bed now :)Reminds me of a luxurious hotel bed at a spa. Happy to recommend.

Soooo comfortable but supportive too. Turnable mattress so its been properly manufactured, no skimping on materials like the non-turn ones. A very worthwhile investment. I have no regrets!

Brilliant mattress, so so comfortable, you will not want to get out of bed. Its very deep too, they have crammed a lot of fillings in this mattress, probably why its so great to sleep on.

Great value, decently made mattress. We had the luxury range before on a double as opposed to the super king and that was far comfier but this is still very nice once you get used to it.

Quality product, very comfortable, this mattress has much improved my sleep and is the perfect balance between soft and firm.Pleased its got handles, the mattress is very heavy to move.

I have had rest assured mattresses before and found them to be very comfortable and value for money I have had mine a month now and i am very satisfied Thankyou.

Great mattress, provides a comfortable nights sleep and just the right amount of firmness. Feeling supported and waking refreshed and ready for the day.

Excellent quality. Well made. Supportive and keeps me cooler at night compared with my last mattress. My asthma and other allergies have improved.

This mattress was bought based on the reviews so I was nervous. Thankfully it matched my hopes and we??re thrilled with the mattress.

Traditional mattress which can be turned over as well as rotated. Materials appear to be of superb quality and comfort is excellent

We needed a firm mattress for support, yet without feeling lumpy. This mattress fits the bill and at a very competitive price too.

Very comfortable, firmer than I had before, but a very good quality mattress, I would recommend this if you can afford it
